This is the type of movie that you can't miss for no reasson at all.I watched on the big screen and i have to have it for the years to come.Similar to Pearl Harbor and Titanic those movies that every time you watched found something new.I personally recomended 100%.Beside of the action that is incredible, explain a lot of history about the Battle of Midway.Get one copy for you .In the tears to come you will appreciate my recommendation.

WW II is the most important historical event in the 20th century. This movie in 4K is just incredible. I felt like I was in the battle with the pilots and air crews. The photography and sound are beyond belief. The heroism and sacrifice displayed by the Greatest Generation would make anyone deeply grateful for all they did to save our country. This is a MUST SEE movie and should be required viewing for all high school history classes.

The heroism of our servicemen depicted in this accurate retelling of a decisive series of battles is a truly remarkable accomplishment in film making. The story had to be abbreviated for time and still stay as true to form as possible or else you'd be watching a miniseries with way too much down time in the action. Events were unabashedly presented from the American viewpoint making those watching want to go out & buy War Bonds.

I rented this movie originally and loved the action, true story, acting, and pretty much the whole bit. I bought myself a Sony 65" OLED TV about the same time and was blown away by the whole OLED 4K experience. Unbelievable detail, color, contrast..... basically EVERYTHING was extraordinary. Black Friday prices were generous as well. Anyway, I highly recommend this movie to all who enjoy this genre.

Finally watched this movie and I was very impressed with it. The action, cinematography, cast, and everything was on point for this movie. My friend was so impressed he had wide eyes 99% of the movie. I also cranked up the volume and I'm quite sure my neighbors thought there were aerial dogfights and naval battles going on at my house (closest neighbor is not visible and over a quarter mile away).

I have both copies, the 1976 version with Henry Fonda and Charletson Heston and just watched the new version. Enjoyed them both. Each movie has a focus on a different persepctive of the timeline that leads up to the Battle of Midway. I enjoyed them both and admittedly the newer version with the 4K is visually better.

I compare this movie to Dunkirk mainly because the focus is also broad and covers several storylines. Dunkirk had a certain tense, detailed, very well thought out structure. It never told you more than you needed to know, but you knew just what you needed to for each scene to work for the whole. In Midway, the storylines are detailed, but I think that in some cases scenes are overexplained without communicating all that is necessary. So the attention to detail and craft is not as strong in my opinion. Where Dunkirk was all about pacing and structure, Midway is more about action and historical context, I suppose.

I have both the older version movie and this version, and I really enjoyed this one a lot. This 4K version has really great detail on my 78" Sony Z9 and I was really into the great surround on my Martin Logan speaker. Watching the movie, the plane attach scenes were great, and I felt that I was actually in the plane. I highly recommend that if you enjoyed the older "Midway" version, you will enjoy this one.

Storyline follows several historical figures with at least a fair presentation of accuracy. This version starts with Pearl Harbor, follows with key events up to Midway, then the battle itself CGI is very good. Actors are good & generally okay with the figures they portray. Historians might argue that the Midway story itself is cut down somewhat, but the movie focuses on 1 dive bomber pilot.

Although it is a remake...it is very well executed. It tells of the people that sacrificed to win the battle of midway and how against overwhelming odds....if there is a will there is a way. And how one man can change the course of the battle. Although he has been forgotten it tells of his sacrifice to complete the mission. I don't want to give too many spoilers but it is a must see.

I went to see this movie in the theater ... I knew that I would have to have it at home so that I can utilize the rewind and closed captioning ... I missed quite a bit of the dialog at the theater especially the captions in Japanese ... The only issue that I had - and it is a small one - is that the captions in English for the Japanese actors was a little small for me ... But that's what the rewind function is for ...

This is a very good movie with a balanced presentation on the Battle of Midway. The special effects, which make up a majority of the movie, are spectacular (particularly in 4K). The story is engaging and dramatic, but many of the characters seemed like cliches. The attempt to personalize the story with scenes with family members just didn't click. While the story of the Doolittle Raiders is a great piece of history, I never quite figured out just how it linked to the Battle of Midway. I enjoyed this well-made movie, but it fell a bit short of five stars.

Right at the start of the video it is filled with five previews of upcoming releases. We shouldn't have to watch all that advertising. A pet peeve. Overall the movie is good but you have to get used to the computer generated graphics especially in the opening battle sequence. The studios tend go overboard in this respect. The sound through my home theater system is excellent. I have the Blue Ray version.

I missed this one in the theaters but a beautiful steelbook with unique slipcase, historical movie and what I anticipate to be a very active soundtrack caused me to take a blind buy chance on this one. I am glad I did. I was constantly fact checking as I watched and was surprised on the accuracy presented. The characters had me engaged and the surround sound and 4K presentation were top notch. Recommended.

I’ve watched it twice so far! I’m happy to watch it again with friends and family. My heart goes out to all who fought for our freedom! My dad never spoke of WWII until he was in a coma. He wasn’t expected to live through the night. I came home from college to witness him re living the war, brought me to tears! I told him he needed to wake up to see his future grandchildren. He lived another eight years!

Overall, this was a good movie. What I found was there was too much time spent on Pearl Harbor, the Battle of the Coral Sea, and Doolittle's Tokyo Raid. While these events are obviously important to the lead up of Midway, too much time was spent developing these story lines which took away a lot of the actual happenings of Midway. If someone didn't know the history of Midway previously, there would be a lot of unanswered questions which leave a lot of holes in the story. Still, there is a good amount of action, and it is relatively fast paced so it was enjoyable.

FYI: the beauty of Blue Ray is the internet connection made simultaneously with the theater-like audio-visual effects to bring out the best picture & sounds (especially during the glider dive-bombing of the Japanese Carriers) undoubtedly, as close as it gets to real life!

Great movie done in historical fashion that covers from the beginning of the war with the attack on Pearl Harbor and continues on through with the battle of Midway when we defeated the Japanese fleet. If you are lucky enough to have a new 4K tv with Dolby Vision, like a Sony Bravia you are in for a special treat.

Bought this one at super discount on a Black Friday sale. History buffs will find this one interesting to watch. Liked the visual and sound effects during the combat scenes. Most of the other films on Midway have struggled bringing excitement to this historic event for one reason or another. But this 4K Ultra HD blu-ray version did hold my interest. I liked it.

This Blu-Ray disc was purchased online with Best Buy pickup at store option. I chose curbside delivery and received the item about 5 minutes after my arrival at the store. I was impressed at the ease of ordering and the fast efficient pickup process. The movie itself was wonderful and historically educational. All-in-all a hassle free purchase. Very satisfied.
