    Porting restrictions. Incapacitated customer care.

I bought it directly from the mint mobile website. However, I am also posting here to help others so that they do not end up in my state. This is the worst experience I have had with any carrier in all these years and I used all the big carriers over the years like Verizon, T-mobile, AT&T and even small ones. I bought the sim card and tried to activate it by porting my old number from Ultra mobile. I waited a day and a half and still no response. So I ended up calling customer care and they say I cannot port from Ultra mobile. It is so ridiculous because 1. Mint mobile is a subsidary of Ultra mobile 2. No where on their website they mention any such limitation 3. During activation, they have a drop down menu for previous carrier and it list ultra mobile there. Customer care was useless as they have nothing in their scope to help. 1. They cannot help me port my old number 2. They cannot help me issue a refund over the phone Refund procedure is again annoying. 1. They cannot refund back to my card 2. They can only do PayPal. But I do not have a paypal account. So to get refund, I need to create a paypal account, give details to paypayl, request refund to paypal and then transfer from paypal to bank. Annoying! 3. Cannot refund any shipping or handling charges. Normally, it is acceptable. But here it is an issue with the company itself. Regarding connectivity, I cannot comment much because the plan was not active. However, I noticed that there were only one or two signal bars after inserting sim and it remain that way the whole time. I live in the heart of the bay area and i have always had full network signal bars on my phone in my house and also outside with all other carriers. Now I need to re-activate with ultra mobile - more customer care calls. Then I need to create a paypal account to get refund. Worst experience and incapable customer care.

Great Prices.....and here is the reason.....

Had it for a year now. Great pricing and I get 5gb per month. This month, I used about 600mb. That's kind of typical because data signals in Florida are essentially non-existent. Ryan Reynolds sold the company and made a Mint....I helped him out for a year, but I'm done when the plan expires. Only one more month of this!!! YAY!!!

    Too many issues

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

First, the sales rep ok'd a phone not on their web site-the phone had poor connectivity, dropped calls, etc. Tried another phone (I was sucked into the idea I could get a good plan for $15/mos), but had same issues. The mobile network appears to be a secondary network; it is slow and was not available during times of heavy usage. Was told by tech reps that I could get a pro-rata refund even though I was past seven day trail period, but when I asked for this, they gave a company line reverting back to their short trial period. So I paid for three months and got three weeks of bad service. The lesson holds true: if it sounds too good to be true, it usually is. I went with Xfinity Mobile-it's working great-Verizon network, they use unique system where you can use existing wifi hot spots for free data usage, and the price point is also very good. I give both good and not so good reviews.

Dont do it. It says unlimited but once you pass 40 GB of data you get reduced down to 15 kbps. I can't even use most of my apps now because the data is so slow and I still have 2 weeks left till it rolls to the new month. Don't let them fool you into believing it will be great because it's not. Thanks Ryan Reynolds.

    Be Careful

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I was a Mint Mobile customer for over a year and a half. The service was ok, not exceptional but you get what you pay for. The network signal was weak at my office, so I found a different provider and ported my number. The part about Mint you want to be careful about is if you want to cancel any time before your prepaid time is up you will forfeit your remaining balance. I paid for 12 months of service but only received about 6 months. The customer service department will not issue a credit or refund for any remaining prepaid time. Customer service was below average, the automated phone tree does not allow you to get to customer service without going through sales. I was disconnected while waiting for an agent to research my issue. I actually had to chat with a representative to get my account number and transfer PIN and was not advised of that policy at that time either, even though they obviously had to access my account to gather that info. I honestly feel this is part of the business plan. So please be aware and be careful if you choose Mint. Ther are other services at the same or better prices that you will not fall into this trap with. That said, I would not recommend.

    TERRIBLE

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

This has been the worst experience I have ever had with any service provider, phone or anything else. First my land line could not connect to any mint mobile number. I got mint mobile for myself, my wife and my son. First I was unable to call any of these mobile numbers (an important requirement). It took appx 4 weeks to fix this. Then they changed the plan-which I was assured by the initial sales person would not happen. this raised the cost from $25 a month 5GB-which was more than I needed-to $35 month 8Gb-totally not needed. Then they offered me a $30 credit that could only be used for extra data and international roaming-totally useless for my purposes. I would not recommend them to anyone ever.

    Terrible mobile and customer service.

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

The mobile service is terrible for certain phones, for unknown reasons. Service randomly drops throughout the day, without any warning or indication. The bars always look full, but all of a sudden, you try sending a text or making a call, and realize the service is no longer working. Upon restarting, a barrage of texts and voicemails arrive, because service is restored upon restarting. In another couple of hours, service will go down again but you can't ever tell from looking at your phone signal, which leads to an infuriatingly high number of important missed calls and texts. Customer service is even worse. Each agent has a script they follow and they are unwilling to show any creativity or initiative in helping you with your problem. As a result, you are stuck in an infinite loop of trying power cycling and them resetting some stuff on their side, with no real fix. If you press them for answers, you get what turn out to be lies, like "your service will work fine now" or "we'll get back to you with a fix in 48h." Not worth the time nor money. I preferred my previous $25/month reliable plan to this.

    50% off for 50% Usage

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

The roughly 50% off is due to the fact that, that is about how often you can expect your phone to work. If you prepay, they will not refund any of the cancelled service, even when it’s due to their failure to provide coverage. They also will not allow you transfer your number elsewhere and let a family member use the old phone with a different number since you've already prepaid it. Basically, they ransom your phone number to try to keep you from switching or being obligated to continue providing the services you paid for in the event you do. Also, their international credits do not work, and any time you stay overnight more than half an hour from home, your phone stops working because their towers can’t figure out your location. Don’t fall for the cheap initial prices, it’s a scam to get you to transfer your number so they can ransom it.

    Not unlimited! Lies!!!

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I really want to give it one star because for one week a month im messed for the next year. No its not my period. I bought the unlimited plan thinking it was unlimited, which i mean technically it is. But, if you go to a buffet and after your second plate they will only give you a gram of food every 5 minutes and youve now been put on a starvation diet and will die, but they never stop feeding you. Ive heard of throttling, but knowing the path is different than walking the path and boy do they blank you while you walk that path. I cant even check my security camera. Its not an unlimited plan, thats a lie. Its a 35gb plan, and then you get sxrewed. In a bad way. Like she didn't put any lube on there, missed her shower, and forgot deodorant for the last 3 days. Buckle up.

    the worst, really

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

We got 3 free months with purchase of a new phone and decided to try it out. Big mistake. Worst reception ever. I live in the center of a very large US city and calls were continuously dropped. It became almost humorous when it once couldn't maintain a connection long enough to check the voicemail for an entire week, literally. Also, severely under-trained support staff and phenomenally rude supervisors. This is of course accompanied by multiple hour-long waits on hold. Worst of all they are holding my phone # hostage with nearly impossible requirements for "verification" in order to get the information needed to port out my # to a real service provider.

Terrible tech support, no 2-factor verification

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Buyer beware - MintMobile does NOT support short code messages used for 2-factor verification with banks etc. I was also never able to get group texts to work properly in spite of contacting tech support multiple times - they never got back to me as promised other than to ask if the issue had been resolved. When I finally got them on the phone they just told me to check my APN settings, which I had already done multiple times and then finally told me that they do not support short code messages. I finally moved to another company and asked for a refund, but because it had now been more than 7 days I'm just out the $80 I paid. Thanks for nothing MintMobile

"Good Feel" Advertising - but NO REFUND

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Looked like a good deal *but turned out to be a complete hassle. First step was to check my device (IMEI) for compatibility. Web site says it will work. Ordered the 3 - Month sim at Best Buy on-line. Went on Mint Mobile web site to activate. *Did not work - had to call tech support. They were not able to activate either. *Turns out device is NOT compatible (even though web site says it is). There is supposed to a 7 day money back guarantee. Filed for the refund. Uploaded my receipt. *Soon after I started getting email after email, asking for additional information and claiming the receipt was missing info or they need the sim # (you input this when you activate so why do they need it again) or your email address (duh they sent the message to me and they don't know what the email address is?). Anything to wear you down, so they can avoid actually giving you back the legitimate refund.

Mint is completely Trash!!! Just went to an NBA game where my wife and I had completely disabled phones for 3 hours. You think deprioritized data doesn’t matter?!?!? Try going somewhere with a large group of people. Never ever again!!! You get what you pay for and this is trash. If you don’t like it after 7 days. Guess what no refund for the 6 months of garbage you paid for.

    Bad everything.

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Absolutely terrible. So my husband and I have three lines two personal and one work using the prepaid 4gig plan. In the US is seems to work OK at best but we have just traveled to Canada to deal with the sale of our house and this is where you realize just how bad MINT is. So on the 4 gig plan you don't have international which was fair enough, after all we went with the 4 gig because we did use that much to begin with. Well we purchase their international package and it was just pathetic. After purchasing our lines between our phones were bad and most of the time would get a drop call in a matter of seconds, this was the same with our friends numbers and our realtor (very awkward when we are trying to discuss the sale of the house). So we purchased a more expensive plan thinking this may have been the problem but no still had issues. Our phones in all seriousness were just paperweights unless we were on our wireless Shaw connection. Now with MINT the Cell service was bad which effect everything; texting, internet and calls. Once we got back to the US we called MINT and they blamed the cellphone tower, I laughed and explained I traveled up to Canada through the Portal border crossing and the issue was from MooseJaw through Medicine Hat and into Calgary and all throughout the Calgary area, so the lie of it being the cellphone tower was poor at best. Since we are now back here in Langhorne, I said to my husband we need to change carriers because the service is bad and their employee lied. So now we're looking at T-Mobile or Verizon, yes they will cost more but for a solid connection and 20-30 bucks more it's worth it and better without the headache.
