Sales person said I would need this cable to get full functionality out of my monitor. Doesn't allow my monitor to work. Can't figure out if it's a bad cable or improper setting.

I was really excited when I purchased this slow cooker because it had all the features I was looking for: programmable timer, thermometer, large 6 quart capacity, clamps to keep the cover on to avoid spills. But when I actually used it I was so disappointed! First of all, the exterior of the cooker got so hot I burned my hand when I touched it. Also there are hot spots where it cooks one area to the point of burning the food at that one spot. I had to constantly stir the ingredients to keep everything cooking evenly. But the worst thing is the smell this cooker gives off! I have had it for eight months and I thought the chemical smell would eventually burn off, but it didn't. Instead of smelling the wonderful odors of delicious food cooking, we were subjected to strong chemical fumes all day long. It was so bad it caused us to get headaches! So, as much as I really wanted to love this cooker, we had to get rid of it.
