I got the Misfit Ray because of the style. I had a Polar Loop that I loved, and was looking for something similar but wanted to try something different. I didn't need an Apple Watch or other similar device. For me, the Ray is great but because of its simplicity, it's not for everyone. Pros: -looks cool. Doesn't look anything like a fitness tracker -very secure band. It won't accidentally fall off -easy to use. Nice simple phone app -relatively inexpensive -can be worn in multiple ways, not only on the wrist -no need for charging since it uses batteries -pretty accurate. I compared it with my iPhone health app and the step count was vetry similar -has alarm functions that can be set to buzz lightly if you've been inactive during the day, or in the morning -can be paired with your phone to give text alerts, etc (again by buzzing) but I don't have these turned on so I can't say how effective they are Cons: -very basic functions. It pretty much just tracks steps and sleep -no display so it doesn't show the time or steps on the device. You have to check your phone app. It does have a light sensor that goes from red to green as you move during the day -will have to buy batteries so there is a recurring cost It's definitely not for everyone but if you're looking for something super simple just to track movement to help you be more active and want something that doesn't look like a traditional fitness tracker, you may want to give the Ray a shot.

Great for people new to wearable fitness items!

I've never owned a fitness tracker before this, and didn't want to blow a lot of money on something if it turned out I didn't like it. I am in no way an exercise nut, I bought this for the sole purpose of hoping it would encourage me to be more active throughout the day, and so far it has! It is very satisfying to see that rainbow of colors when I've completed my goal! For anyone who isn't sure whether or not they want to get into the world of fitness trackers, Misfit Ray is a good, inexpensive option. *Review is not sponsored in any way, I have never owned any other fitness trackers, and have not worn my Ray in water, but have read to NOT take it in the ocean. PROS: • Very fashionable, looks more like minimalist jewelry. People are surprised when my cute bracelet is actually a fitness tracker! Has lot's of cute accessories you can buy for it. • App has a "points" system instead of just a step tracker. You can tell the app when you'll be doing an activity, like biking, swimming, or yoga. I believe most other fitness items are essentially pedometers, which isn't helpful if you do exercise that isn't running or walking. • Analyzes your sleep patterns and functions as an alarm. Tells you how much of your sleep was light vs. restful, and records if you got up and walked around during the night. • If you download the Misfit LINK app, you can set your Ray to perform a certain action when tapped 3 times. I am constantly losing my phone, so I have mine set to play a tone so I can find it. You can change the tone to a ringtone so if you need to get out of a conversation you make your phone ring and pretend to take the call. You can also use it to pause music, skip songs, and more. • Device buzzes and flashes to alert you to incoming alerts - blue for texts, green for calls. I often find that my Ray starts buzzing for a call a second before my phone even does! • Even if your phone is off, Ray stores your data for you until you can sync with your phone later. • Main app has great minimalistic design and is easy to use. • Is waterproof. I have not worn it swimming or in the shower, but I am clumsy and have spilled water all over it, and it is 100% fine. • Has options in app for where you are wearing your device to get a more accurate read. You can select easily if you are wearing the device on your wrist, shoe, as a necklace, etc. • Has a social aspect, so if you have friends with Misfit devices, you can compete with them and other users globally. I don't really use this feature, but it also shows you the average of all other Misfit users in your gender bracket, which is kind of neat. • Buzzes when you have been sitting still for too long. This feature is GREAT for me - I'm an artist and will sit at my desk for hours on end without moving, which makes me really sore! It serves as a great reminder to take breaks and take care of my body. CONS: • The biggest, and most inconvenient one - for any of the cool features like getting text/call alerts, synching with the app, or making your phone play a tone through the Link app requires you to have the Bluetooth on your phone on. This can be a drain on battery life, which is kind of inconvenient. I have to turn off bluetooth and live without these features when I'm out of the house all day, because I need my phones battery more than I need these features. • LINK app (tone/music changing feature) MUST be running in the background on your phone, and is not super accurate. If you leave an app in the background for a while and use a lot of other apps, my iPhone will "quit" the app even though it says it is still running in the background (you can tell when this happens because when you open said app, the home screen will "refresh"). So if it has been too long since you last opened the Link app, or if your phone is sleeping and not currently sending/checking for pings, it will not work. So essentially, you have a tossup as to whether or not it will actually do what you want it to. • Also in regards to the LINK app - the normal Misfit app has the option to make an account through Facebook, Google, or through Misfit itself. The LINK app only has the option of logging in through Misfit or Facebook. I originally set up my Misfit app through the Google login, and couldn't get the LINK app to work. I had to make a new account through Misfit (using the same email, weirdly enough) to get the LINK app to work, which caused me to lose all my progress so far. • May not be super accurate. Sometimes it thinks that me adjusting the bracelet on my wrist is me tapping it, and occasionally overestimates how much exercise I am getting depending on how much I move my left arm around. • Cute accessories and bands cost almost as much as the device itself. • Sleep tracker does not account for you sitting around on your phone before bed. I found that my Ray would say that I started sleeping at around 9, when in reality, I was just sitting down watching TV or on my phone until I actually went to bed at 11. This was easily fixed by going into the app and hitting the "I'm going to bed" button when I turned out my lights to go to sleep. If I don't remember to do this, however, my sleep won't be accurate. • Instruction manual is minimalist to a fault. There are almost no words in it, just pictures and diagrams. I didn't understand the manual at first, so I ended up having to Google instructions on how to set up the device. The Misfit site has a video showing you the set up. I also had to google what the colors/buzzes meant, because it doesn't tell you anywhere. • There is an "M" logo on the bottom, which rubbed off after about 3 weeks of use. This doesn't really bug me, but it's still a design flaw. If Misfit released this exact device, but fixed all the cons I listed above, I would buy it again in a heartbeat, even if it were double the price. I love that I can be more conscious of how much exercise I do throughout the day, and this device has helped give me that extra push I need to get up and move around to meet my goals. For anyone who isn't super into fitness but wants to start being healthier, or if you want a wearable that will look great with ALL of your outfits, Misfit Ray is for you.

Sadly I only had my ray for about 2 weeks. I wore it on my ankle for majority of the time. This was my initial reason for the purchase. I thought having the option of wrist or ankle without getting additional accessories was a good deal. Activity tracking was right on, sleep tracking was ok. It was a bit off on several nights. The "alarm" or vibrate signal was very faint and difficult to feel unless you are sitting very still. No way would it have woken me up. I lost the Ray when wearing it on my wrist. I did have it on snugly, but it must have popped off and with it being gray it was just impossible to spot in the grass/leaves. Since it does not make any noises I was unable to find it. I would say it is good for activity tracking and nice that it fits on an woman's ankle but sleep track and secure band get low marks.

After looking at many watches, I decided on this because of its versatility. Many of the activity trackers look too sporty to wear with formal or business casual attire. This band isn't over the top, does a decent job at tracking your activity, and even has a few other functionalities (Selfie button, music remote, presentation clicker). You will need to download the supplementary "Misfit Link" app if you want to take advantage of these additional features; the default "Misfit" app does not give you these extra functionalities. Note: You should keep in mind that the design of this activity tracker seems to cater to form over function. If you're looking for something more serious for training, serious workouts, GPS, and detailed workout metrics; you should look at Fitbit or the Garmin watches.

This tracker is accurate and syncs with other tracking programs. It is very light weight and I love that the average battery life is 6 months so no need to remove and charge every week. I also have to say that it only has one scratch after over 30 days of normal everyday wear and tear.

Its very basic what the functions are but it very stylish and really all you need. Its water resistant and pretty resistant in general. I bang it around places and its still good. It also looks pretty nice. This thing is more like an accessory but its really cool.

I loved my Ray, unfortunately it didn't always work like it should have. I had to return it for another. I think I must have just gotten a bad one. The notifications were my main reason for getting it, I don't always hear my phone ring and would miss important calls, with this I am always notified of calls and text.

I read several reviews and spoke to others who were using either a Fitbit or another brand. Based on feedback, realized I didn't want to have to worry about battery life - no charging needed every few days. Also needed it to be water resistance which this is - I have used it to swim in pool on several occasions with no issues. The app is easy to use but I probably don't take advantage of other features. I'm just trying to be more active and this has helped. There are days I forget to sync but it still keeps track each day. Overall works, fits and good start to getting fit. I have had it for a month and worth the investment.

This is the best tracker I have ever used. It is so light that I forget I have it on. It is also waterproof. I wear this all the time, even if I swim or shower. In order to sync to your phone, you have to periodically open the app. This uses small batteries that are replaceable. This does NOT have any ports to charge it. The battery is supposed to last 6+ months. I have not had to replace the battery yet.

Keeps track of steps and not much else. No visual display, only some lights to indicate progress. Better off spending a little more for something that does a lot more.

Got this for my wife, who had the Flash before. The flash was nice, but the wristbands and clips were made of cheap plastic and broke after a few weeks. The band on the Ray, however, is very durable. The aluminum body is nicely textured and matches pretty well with the Apple Watch. The LED indicator is not as intuitive as the Flash's circle, but my wife likes it ok.

I was a previous owner of a Jawbone UP 3 tracker. Initially, I was enthused about it's capabilities. Never mind that it wasn't water-proof and had to be recharged often, which meant removing it! It let me know what was happening when I was asleep. But poor design features, not the least of which was a faulty armband, caused me to stop wearing it. I missed having that data, so I started to research other trackers. I wanted something similar, but without being garish or cumbersome (I don't wear a wristwatch). I selected the Misfit RAY after reading many positive product reviews online. It's lightweight, water-proof and has a simple, sturdy armband that is comfortable. AND, it has a six-month battery so you never have to take it off to charge it, except to clean it after a workout. The data feed is exactly what I'm looking for. It's a good (Mis)fit for me!

I did alot of research on this. I wanted waterproof not water resistant. This one is completely waterproof. My son swims with it on. The only negative I have found so far is that it does not sync easily at times. He is 11 and just wanted a fitness tracker because I have a Fitbit. :) This one is definitely cheaper than a Fitbit.

Waterproof was a big issue for me, as was sleep tracking. The Ray offers both without looking like another knock off watch. I wear mine constantly, and compete with friends and family to reach bigger and better fitness goals. Unfortunately for all that its the latest and greatest in Misfit fitness watches, it still doesn't track pulse rate. Obviously not a deal breaker for me.. But would have sent it over the top. Still, at this price point in comparison to others with similar features. This is the best bang for your buck. Added note: have purchased 2 additional for friends

The Misfit Ray does exactly what is says it does. It works great for what I need and wanted. Sleep tracker matches with what I feel are my sleep patterns. I sometimes think I have walked further than it says but I have hiked with others wearing different trackers and we were pretty close on distance. Best thing I like is I can wear it with my watch and wear it all the time because it is sealed.
