I didn't know what to expect, but knew I loved most of what Tim Burton does. We picked this up over Christmas because our cable was out and we needed to entertain some houseguests. The story is a little macabre and is basically a super creepy X-Men. Just imagine Miss Peregrine as Proffessor Xavier and that'll help you along. Samuel L. Jackson is superb in his role and the story keeps you in suspense. It's originality truly kept me guessing what would happen next. We watched the movie with our 5 year old and there were some scenes we thought were a little too intense, but she hasn't said anything since. Maybe she's well adjusted, or maybe I misjudged her spooky/scary limits. Lol, I was probably more creeped out than she was. It's definitely worth a watch!

I did enjoy this movie, it's a Tim Burton classic!

For folks (like me) that fell off the Tim Burton bandwagon several pictures back, "Miss Peregrine" feels like a revitalizing effort. Though it's a young-adult story, it is filled with the weirdness and imaginative monsters you want from a Burton film. There's a great art direction with some of the monsters that pays obvious tribute to stop motion master, Ray Harryhausen. I truly enjoyed the film, but had an even better appreciation for it after showing it to my young niece and nephew and saw how much they enjoyed it. If you're looking for a dark, but fairly lighthearted movie filled with weird creatures, great special effects, a very hammy performance by Sam Jackson, and some of the old Burton film magic, I suggest watching this film.

When we purchased this film, we knew almost nothing about the story other than its cover art and its star -- Eva Green. It proved to be an amazing voyage into a world of magic based on inherited traits -- including being invisible, seeing invisible evil beings, and floating in the air. The film is a wonderful mixture of fantasmagorical and frightening! We enjoyed it a great deal -- and would give it a 5-star rating. Added to the film are the wonderful "added attractions" -- explanations of the magic. The final thing to make this a "5" is the combined packaging of DVD, BluRay, and Digital HD at a great price! No matter where we go, or what equipment we have available, we can take Miss Peregrine and her children along! We highly recommend this film set!
