    Much Better Than Expected

Eva Green is among my favorite actresses. (She's the best Bond girl ever, in my view.) She works her magic in this enjoyable, fun and even thrilling adventure/drama from director Tim Burton, whose work I also usually like. A pleasant way to spend a couple of hours. And the young performers acquit themselves very well.

Great vision, and creativity. 3D was fantastic, and it seems the technology is getting better. Movie overall was conceptually great, jumped around a few times, annoyed me. In the end, it's another love story. The peculiar children really didn't show their stuff until the end, just little tid bits, could have been more.

My daughter enjoyed the movie immensely. My wife and I were actually entertained. My daughter liked the movie so much that she wanted to buy the entire book series as soon as she could find it at the book store. I liked the fantasy and adventure aspects of the movie. I hope they make sequels that follow the other books in the series.

Eva Green does a great job as the Head for a home of childeren with abilities. Almost like a off version of the X-Men to a point. Each kid has their own special talent that they end up channeling to help defeat evil to try and protect their home that is stuck in a time loop and repeats the same day over and over.

Didnt get to see the movie when it was in theatres so decided to buy it and it was on sale so even better. The movie was actually pretty good especially if you are into this style and type of movie. They left it open for a sequel that is for sure and I guess only time will tell when the next one comes out

This is a fun, yet delightfully dark movie that is great for those a tad older than very young children. It is in the Harry Potter spirit, with magic and creatures and scary beasts. And this release has some cool extras to go along with the film so you can learn more. Let's hope there are more adventures as well!

Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children is a movie based on a dark fantasy debut novel by American author Ransom Riggs. It is a story of a boy who, following a horrific family tragedy, follows clues that take him to an abandoned children's home on a Welsh island. The movie moves well and is entertaining.

I missed seeing this film at the theater when it came out, but was able to see it on Blu Ray. The special effects are amazing and the story is about these special children who have special powers. If you like movies with lots of special effects, you will love this one. The quality of sound and clarity of the blu ray was great.

Very good and interesting movie. You do have to see it twice to get an understanding. Because it gets a little fast paced. I always thought there was going to go to Puerto Rico, cause they mention it in the beginning of the movie, but they went to the other place instead; somewhere in Wales or Scotland. Good CGI moments, not too much though... But I also felt this is a Samuel L. Jackson's messing around movie. Basically, just being himself. And ok, with the director' decision for putting him mid-movie.The Miss Peregrine actress was beautiful and played her scenes just right. The ideas and specialties of the children were weird enough, but wish I could've seen more action or play off of their peculiarities.Oh and one last thing, really love those techno beats by the end of the movie when they were fighting those monsters at the pier. LoL.

I love the premise of peculiar abilities. Ransom Rigg captured all of the wonderful oddities that makes this young adult book delicious!! Tim Burton adapted it well in the movie. Eva Green was great as Ms.Perigrine, and Asa Butterfield got the American accent to the tea!!! I love the movie and reading the 2nd installment.

Home for Peculiar Children and director Tim Burton well that should say it all. Burton has this darkside as can be seen in several of his movies as he always had that tree in several of his animated movies. This one is truly a Tim Burton movies and in some cases out does itself on special effects. The pace in the beginning is rather slow and one must pay particular attention in the beginning to fully understand this off the wall movies. The acting was OK and Samuel Jackson as the villain was outstanding. He saved the day and probably the movie. The last 3/4's of an hour in the movie are a roller coaster ride and sure to please. The 3d is OK but nothing spectacular. If you are a Tim Burton fan than this one is for you. Remember, "The Nightmare Before Christmas." well, this one is not quite a nightmare but on my list it is a pass.

Every Movie maker knows that we buy 3D for the action, but that doesn't mean we are willing to sacrifice fully fleshed out characters. The title character in this one, Mrs. Peregrine, never really got interesting except as a vehicle for transformation effects. Worth the sale price I got it for.

We really liked this movie, but some of the monsters and what they did in the movie (they specifically target children) was a little too scarey for my 7 year old. the 14 and 10 year olds really liked it. The things that were 'scarey' for the 7 year old, were more creepy but funny for the older kids.

Another Tim Burton imaginative fantasy adventure that won't disappoint fans of the weird world of these "X-Kids" with all kinds of fantastic powers. Tim has 16 year old Jake take us on a perfectly peculiar trip through their world as they band together to fight a danger that could tear them apart.

This film is enjoyable, but it is not totally faithful to the 3 books in the series. It is made to be a stand alone, and at this it succeeds. The cast is excellent, especially Samuel L Jackson who chews up the scenery as the main villain and Asa Butterfield as the young hero.. I would recommend it

Maybe it would have helped if we'd read the book, but the end of the movie (time jumping after the climactic battle) was difficult to follow. The climax itself felt really slow. Everything else (acting, special effects, pacing, plot) was reasonable--not fantastic, not horrible. I figured the PG-13 rating would be for cartoonish fantasy violence, so we allowed our 8, 11, and 13 yr old kids to watch. I underestimated the mild horror aspects of the film--the main villains are freakish monsters (sort of a cross between Alien and Slenderman, but with more tentacles) that eat eyeballs...and this shown, not just inferred. All three kids were freaked out and left the room at various points and only one (not the eldest) came back to finish the movie. I probably could have made a better choice for family movie night.

This movie was very good I purchased it in 3-D and it was by far the best picture in 3-D that I have purchased in a long time. The movie was fun clear and I watched it three times. I highly recommend purchasing this movie regardless of Your age

I'm not a huge Tim Burton fan so I was hesitant to see this movie; however, I really wanted to see it. And I'm so glad I did because there were only a couple scenes that were "Tim Burton" like, and I feel like I would've missed a great movie had I chosen to not have seen it just cause it was his movie.

I saw an ad for this movie once on Twitch, and thought it looked interesting (I like Tim Burton movies). It seemed a bit short, but I loved the cast and characters, and it is a bit less "gritty" than previous Tim Burton movies, while still retaining his creepy and mysterious style.
