It's more than likely that most people who have seen the movie need no introduction or reason to pick up the blu-ray of it. For everyone else who is wondering just what the craze was or if Disney still has that spark, all I can say is "yes". For those tired of seeing Frozen's snow-covered landscapes plastered on posters and tons of other merchandise, Moana trades all that in for a beautiful tropical setting, and has a story that appeals to all ages young and old, and boys and girls can all enjoy. The characters are great, the songs are terrific, and you'll often be smiling with glee, laughing, or on the verge of tears. In short, this is just another of Disney's greatest modern hits as they continue to be on a roll for the past seven years.

A new blend of Hawaiian myth and Pacific Ocean adventure. And at least this time Disney seems to have made an honest effort to make this movie as representative and authentic as possible. They had Polynesian musicians. They had the Oceanic Story Trust made up of academics, archeologists, anthropologists, linguists, historians, tattoo masters, navigators, fishermen, elders and artists poring over the script making sure everything would be accurate. They took like 5 years researching this thing. Moana bids farewell to Maui and returns to her recovering island with Heihei. Later, the villagers and Moana (who became their new chief) begin voyaging and set sail in search of new islands, as Maui and Tala accompany them in their giant hawk and manta ray forms, respectively.

Moana is a very enjoyable movie for both kids and adults, though you should be warned that the songs are so catchy you will probably have them in your head all the time, and your kids will never stop listening to them. After my 20th viewing (at least that many, no exaggeration), I have nearly all of the songs memorized. And, my kids sing and play the songs over and over again on through our various streaming music devices/services. But again, the movie is a solid Disney adventure and the music is enjoyable, so I'm not complaining -- just letting you know what you're in for if you own this at home! As a final note, my six-year- and three-year-old boys both like the movie. At first it was slightly scary to the three-year-old, but he got over it pretty quickly.

If you saw this movie in the theaters then you know that it's a modern classic. If you missed it then do yourself a favor and pick up a copy. Finally we have a Disney princess with no love interest. Granted, Frozen dabbled in this aspect but there were still suitors and marriage proposals and scheming men trying to take advantage of the princesses. Moab a has none of that. Yes, she sings. Yes, she rebels (and with a purpose not like Jasmine running away from home because daddy wouldn't listen). Yes, she has a spiritual guide ala Cinderella. That doesn't change the fact that she is truly an inspiration to young people everywhere (boys and girls). It's not a perfect movie. Some songs feel out of place like "Shiny" and "You're Welcome". Highly recommended.

Moana is a great movie. I won't review that here, since you can get more qualified reviews from other people. I will just say it is fun for pretty much everyone. More importantly for this review, I will say that the Blu ray and 3D versions are gorgeous as they should be. Great transfer. I see no issues with quality whatsoever. The DVD version is really nice as well. The packaging is fine, but nothing fancy. No hologram box cover that you often get with a 3D movie anymore. The case holds the blue ray on one side, and the other side stacks the DVD and 3D disks on the same center holder, which I am not a fan of, but apparently works. Not enough to take a star away for, but just so you know.

My kids are older and when this movie came out in the theatres it was for a date night with my wife. It was a Disney film and we didn't know too much before we went to see it. But afterwards we were very pleasantly surprised, and my wife walked out of the movie saying we needed to add that to our collection. We picked this up on Blu-ray. The movie quality is as expected and while we haven't gone through all the bonus features were fun and gave some insight on the background on the making of the movie and the actors behind it. Kids and adults alike will enjoy the music and comedy. I recommend this to kids of all ages. Pop some popcorn, pull up a seat and enjoy some Disney entertainment.

A really cute movie that you can watch over and over again. It is cute for kids and adults alike and nice for everyone to watch together with some popcorn!

Great story, great animation, great songs. A movie the whole family will enjoy. The rocks rendition of "you're welcome" is catchy and a song your family will find itself signing. The chicken hay hay(sp?) steals the show at times and instantly became a favorite character of the children in the family because of his silliness. What stands out is moana truly is the star of this movie. It's her story, and the heart of it is about a girl on an adventure to save her people. I highly recommend giving the movie a watch. The entire family enjoyed it, and I'm pretty sure yours will too. As for the product itself what your expect from a blurry,DVD,3D combo pack.

Limited Edition Best Buy Steelbooks are best way to collect films in my opinion because the casing is as durable as it gets with Blu-ray packaging - certainly above and beyond the typical flimsy plastic that often breaks! - and comes in a strikingly attractive design that avid film collectors like myself will most definitely appreciate for many years to come. As for the Disney film Moana, if you're already a Disney fan it's the latest greatest. And, if you're not a Disney fan but a fan of great films the whole family can enjoy, this film should surely make you a fan of the special 'magic' that all great Disney animated films have to offer to the world. Enjoy!

Moana is an excellent coming-of-age story following Moana, the chieftiain's daughter of the island of Motonui. Moana grew up wanting to be on the ocean, much to her father's dismay. Certain events happen that cause her to disobey her father and set sail beyond the barrier reef of her island in search of a demigod called Maui (played by Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson) to save her home and her people. The characters of both Moana and Maui go through was good character development and some excellent musical numbers on their quest to restore the heart of Te Fiti. Along for the journey is Hei Hei, Moana's pet chicken; Hei Hei is the best character. "You're Welcome."
