Customers are positive about the Air purifier's ability to improve air quality and its generally quiet operation, while also appreciating its ease of use and attractive design. However, customers are negative about the high price of both the unit and replacement filters, and some experienced issues with the accompanying app and reported a noticeable odor during initial use. The size of the unit was also a point of contention for some users.

Most Challenging review - I liked it

I think this is my most challenging review. I will explain shortly why.
Packaging: Packed so nicely and securely. Actual unit is the white bag. You get additional pre filters with it. You get unit in bag, cord, pre filters and setup instructions.
Design: Looks attractive and score high compared to any other competitors. Nice belt smooth handle to carry. No single physical button on the device. Everything touch screen. You love it.
Performance:
All the modes works perfectly. I feel Auto mode works best and good. you can modes based on the condition, example at night time if you do not want light to glow then you can turn off, similarly if you want the unit to throw and process more air then boost mode works. This unit nicely integrates with phone apps.
Why I said it is most challenging - The main question which you or me everyone wants to know is... Is it really working ? Is it really cleaning the air ? Well, I feel this is depends on the room condition where you keep the device and how your body react with different types of airs. Let’s take an example - If you are allergic to specific air conditions I will say this will mostly help again it depends on the room and the size of the room and how bad the air. It cleans the smells in the air if the room size is small, you can not keep it in big living room and expect this unit to clean everything. I feel this is working fine without issues, you can surely try for 4-5 days and see the difference. Why I gave 4? Because I feel it is little expensive and we should keep on investing on this for filter changes... of course which is expected. I felt challenging because individual opinions may change based on many conditions. I personally recommend this product.

Most Beautiful Air Purifier I've ever laid eyes on

Me personally due to Severely diminished lung capacity I'm on oxygen 24-7 so air quality is of the utmost importance. I've tried a lot of different purifiers and I must say Molekule is a few steps above any other I've used.
It's really a work of art with the brushed aluminum shell to the real leather carrying strap. It looks nothing like the typical purifier. It has a nicely sized touch screen on the top for controlling all of it's functions. There's also an app if you choose to control or monitor the device from your smart phone. without having tto get up. It connects through WiFi
Unlike most purifiers on the market that use HEPA filters, Molekule uses a PECO system. It has these blue lights on the inside and the filter is across from them and as the air and trash in the air is pulled up through it from what I understand it disintegrates it. It puts off a cool blue light seen from the top but also has a dark mode if you want the room completely black when you sleep but by cutting the lights off it does cut own on the effectiveness of the filter. They do automatically cut back on after 8 hours.
You have different flow settings depending on the size of your room. The max setting is a 600 square foot room. It's not noisy at all even on boost mode in my opinion.
In summing it up I was very impressed by the difference in air quality. The fresh smell in the air was amazing. My lil brother has allergies and is effected by my Husky's fur and he too noticed a significant difference. It's modern stealthy look is extremely appealing to me as well being inconspicuous.
It's at a high price point but for those like me you can't put a price on air quality. Would highly recommend to others

This never helped with asthma and allergies. I have other air purifiers that do a much better job (actually work) and where less expensive. I regret buying this. It was very expensive and did not purify the air. I contacted their customer service and they were not willing to refund my money. They insisted it was working fine. The filter never filled up whereas my other air purifiers fill up constantly because I have a dog. I finally unplugged it and put my old one back on and I could breathe better.

Real User Here & I LOVE THIS DEVICE

Getting the chance to test a device in my home that has a claim that it can help kill viruses and pathogens was an easy choice, yes please. But this was a bold claim and I wanted to know more. So, I read Molekule's publishing from their own website and was like Ok cool. So here is all I can say, I have terrible allergies and I feel better when my Molekule is on. Plain and simple, I breathe easier and sleep better while my device is on and working. What does that mean though? I am not a scientist, nor have I conducted any written studies for this finding. What I am, is a guy who sneezes and who has used other notable blue-chip High End Hepa filter and antimicrobial products before and I like this one better. I am not sure if the PECO is actually lasering little viruses in my room like an electric bug zapping flies, but I like the peace of mind that it might be. In today's weird world whatever little extra protection I can add, I think I will, and I should. Unlike snake oil too, there is at least data and FDA backing their claim.
I love the sheer sophisticated styling of the unit and if we ever get to have company again, I believe it will definitely be a talking piece. The PECO blue light adds a level of awesome that I did not know I needed either from an air filter, but I do. The first smell the unit makes out of the box (like a charcoal sent – perfectly normal in my previous experiences with like devices) could be a sore spot for some but it goes away in a couple of days. I really like it though and cannot wait to replace the filters in a few months. I was surprised at how heavy the device is and the nifty way the unit opens with a twist. This thing works so well I left it in my teenage son's room to get rid of that "Boy" odor his room has just to see if it could, and it very much did (while in there). I downloaded the app and find it a genuinely nice addition to the unit as it even mimics the unit with its simplicity.
I will not elaborate on price, as this is what they deemed fair market value because again Molekule is not selling a box fan, they are marketing a commercial grade air purifying system for residential use (my own opinions). I would however like to see an air quality and pollutant monitor like some of my other aforementioned devices.
My final thoughts are that it works great, I feel extremely fortunate to have one in our home and will most likely add more.

Cleaning your air the easy way...but, is it 'good'

First, and foremost, for those who’ve gotten used to my usual “The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly” reviewing format…I’m retiring it. Based on comments made in some of my reviews, while there are a great man people who are greatly appreciative of my detailed & informative reviews, there are others who have felt my reviews are overly-wordy. So…moving forward, I’ll still provide detailed & informative reviews, but they will be considerably less-lengthy, and I will be (at least for now) eliminating the “Good, Bad, and Ugly” section…although, I might bring that section back, at a later point in time. Ok, enough of that…onto the review.
The Molekule Air is an interesting device – it’s exactly the same as every other air purifier, yet, at the same time, it’s different than every air purifier that has preceded it. Confused? You won’t be much longer. The Molekule Air purifies air using the same method as other air purifiers…but, it adds a new “twist”. Like most air purifiers, it uses a carbon pre-filter, which captures the larger particles (dust, pet hair, etc). after air passes through the pre-filter, it moves onto the PECO filter, which is the first of Molekule’s “twists”. So, what is ‘PECO’? It stands for “photoelectrochemical oxidation. Ok, so, what the heck is that? Technically, this technology isn’t really ‘new’…think of it as a “boosted” version of photocatalytic oxidation, which has been used for decades in cleaning contaminated air & water. If you’re not sure what that is, think of it as a “boosted” version of the HEPA filter (that one, I’m sure you know). The biggest difference is that HEPA filters can only capture airborne particles…PECO filters, on the other hand, take it up a notch, by also capturing gases. The PECO filter has a coating on it that interacts with UV light (I’ll get to that, shortly), which breaks down these contaminants into smaller, harmless particles. So…what does all this mean to the average consumer? Why, MUCH cleaner air, of course.
The next “twist” is the “we have to do that, too” feature…an app, and internet-connectivity. Before you can start using the Molekule Air, you need to get it set up, and that involves using the iOS/Android app. It walks you through setting it up, getting it connected to your home Wi-Fi, and updating the software and/or firmware. Speaking of ‘updates’, the setup process was interrupted by the first update, so, be prepared for that. After it was fully operational, the second update started being downloaded/installed, which interrupted me from getting the Molekule added to my MAC filtering. Then, about 10 minutes later, it went through another update process. Honestly, of the three updates, I don’t know if they were all software updates, or if one of them might have been a firmware update. As such, the setup process is “simple” (it walks you through every step), yet, at the same time, can cause minor problems. Speaking of “problems”, I almost forgot to mention the problem of connecting it to my home’s Wi-Fi. I had to go through this step multiple times, as it kept failing. My best suggestion is, if you run into the same problem, just keep trying…it DOES eventually connect. Once you have the Molekule Air fully operational, I’m assuming you can uninstall the app from your phone, as you can control it from the unit, itself. Additionally, I’m assuming that all updates will automatically be installed. However, you will lose the ability to remotely control the unit. With the app, you can be on the other side of the country, and change settings. The other advantage of keeping the app – it informs you of the current condition of the PECO & Pre-filter filters, as well as notifying you when either needs replacing.
About that UV light. As I mentioned, that plays a huge part in its ability to do what it’s designed to do…but, if you find the “always on” blue-colored light a nuisance (such as when you’re trying to sleep), you can put the Molekule Air into ‘Silent’ mode (user-selectable modes are Silent, Auto, and Boost), which turns off the UV light. Of course, in doing so, you will be disabling it from doing everything it’s designed to do. ‘Boost’ mode puts it into “maximum operating speed”, to quickly clean the air in whatever room you have it in. ‘Auto’, as the name implies, puts the device into making decisions on its own, based on its internal sensors. Lastly, I want to mention its “coolness” factor. There is no physical buttons…the center of the top is a tiny circular touchscreen. This is what you use for changing modes directly from the device, as well as access other functions. This would be further ‘proof’ that, once the Molekule Air is set up, the app is not necessarily a “necessity”.
Is the Molekule Air worth it? Honestly, I don’t have an answer. Obviously, at $800, it’s not cheap. At the same tie, it does use a technology that others are currently not offering. If it works even half as well as the manufacturer claims, I’ll be happy. However, I did happen to come upon testing done by Consumer Reports. While I will refrain from including any of the detailed information from their review, I will say that it didn’t rate very high. Of the 48 they tested, the Molekule Air was ranked third from the bottom. It’s for that reason that I’m giving it a 3 of 5 stars. Regarding Best Buy’s “Would you recommend this?” question, this is one of those rare times I wish they had a third ‘in-between’ option. I don’t want to say ‘No’…but, in all honesty, I also can’t say ‘Yes’. Because of this, I have no choice but to answer ‘No’. Please, don’t take this as my saying “you should avoid this”…that’s NOT what I’m saying. However, I am also not saying you get this. My best suggestion is to read a bunch of independent reviews, and decide for yourself – THAT’S my honest opinion.
