Customers are saying
Customers are positive about the Air purifier's ability to improve air quality and its generally quiet operation, while also appreciating its ease of use and attractive design. However, customers are negative about the high price of both the unit and replacement filters, and some experienced issues with the accompanying app and reported a noticeable odor during initial use. The size of the unit was also a point of contention for some users.

Good product, useless app
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was excited to get my hands on this purifier as it's my first one. Honestly, it's a very good product but on a higher end as far as price is concerned. Now let's just get straight to the point. 1) Packaging: As stated above, it's a high end product. So the packaging has to be like a premium product. The purifier comes nicely packed in a bag inside the box sandwiched between foam inserts. This purifier uses two different kinds of filters: a) Pre-filter & b) PECO filter. The purifier already comes loaded with both filters inside it and an extra pre-filter packed separately. Other than these, a cable is included in the package along with a users manual and a thank you letter from the company for buying their product. 2) Setup: Don't get me started on this. You are supposed to download an app called Molekule which I did. According to the company, it should connect to your purifier which is next to impossible. I've tried connecting it numerous times but failed every single time. And no, it's not a problem with my particular purifier. I've researched online, it's a common problem and the company very well knows about it. They have been working on it for quite a while now and have not succeeded in fixing this issue so far. The app finds the purifier but when you go on to connect it to the wifi, it shows error. If anyone has had luck getting it to work, shed some light on your experience. It's too frustrating to not have control over a product like this on the tip of your hands. 3) Operation: This particular purifier can be used in a room up to 600 sq. feet big. It has a touch screen on top and you control the purifier through that screen. It has 3 modes: a) Auto, b) Silent & c) Boost. Company recommends starting with auto mode, so the purifier can detect the surroundings and work accordingly. Boost mode is very loud and is only recommended when necessary. Like after doing a thorough clean up/dusting or vacuuming etc when you know there's a lot of dust floating around in the room. It emits a bright blue light thru top which is very noticeable, specially during the night. You have an option to turn the light off but that defeats the purpose of having the purifier because the light helps in the chemical reaction which will be explained below. The purifier will still work but won't be as effective. The PECO filter needs to be replaced every six months and pre-filter need to be replaced every three months. Remember you get an extra pre-filter with the purifier. So all included filters should get you through 6 months depending on your usage. The purifier will let you know when they need to be replaced. So the way it work is the purifier intakes surrounding air that passes through the pre-filter which traps big particles like dust etc. The remaining air then goes into the PECO filter where a chemical reaction takes place with the help of blue light (mentioned above) which breaks down harmful pollutants to their basic molecular components. The purifier then releases the clean air from top. In my opinion, it's great product and is a must have item in a house, specially in a flu season and this coronavirus. It does live up to the hype that it has created but $799 is just too high. The absolutely useless app needs to be worked upon. If they can drop down the price in near future and fix the app, they can have more buyers for sure. At this price, I would not recommend this product unless you have that extra bit of cash lying around or absolutely love this awe-inspiring purifier.

Quiet and Stylish
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This unit is very stylish and easy to set up in a matter of minutes. To get it going, I just plugged it in, connected with the app and let it run its firmware update when it connected to my wifi. From there I was very impressed with how quiet it is. On Silent mode you can't hear it across the room and on auto mode it is just white noise and less noise than a fan. So with its stylish design and low noise, no one knows its in the room until we point it out. The design is also efficient for opening and replacing the filters. My one request would be to have the app be able to tell you the quality of the air going in and coming out to show how well its working. Overall I am impressed with the unit and will be looking at getting the mini for our bedroom.

Cool Looking Air Purifier with a Smelly Catch
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've taken a while to post my review on this device because I wanted to give it some time as Molekule support recommended to "Off Gas" as they called it, but it's been almost 2 weeks and the air that is emitted from this unit still carries a very strong, chemical odor. I'm not sure I can pinpoint what this odor is, but support states it's just the PECO filter doing it's thing. Well, my wife can't stand the smell and it doesn't bother me too much or my daughter, so I stuck it in her room. Good news is she hasn't complained too much about it and her room definitely smells fresher, but still has an underlying chemical smell. It almost smells like a room that someone used an ozonator on (this unit doesn't emit ozone though, so that's not it). The unit itself is sleek, connected to the application via bluetooth without any issue and makes almost no noise on silent and stays pretty quiet on Auto. Boost mode is very audible though, so I'm not sure when you'd use that mode. I don't have any official way of measuring if this thing is actually cleaning the air or not, I'll let the uber geeks and other reviewers do that, but all I can attest to is that the air that comes out of it smells vastly different than any other air purifier I own. Whether this is good or bad is going to be up to you, but I can see the smell that it leaves behind bothering some people while others might not notice it or even think it was pleasant. I will see about updating this review if and when the smell goes away and I get to use it in my own bedroom.

Modern design with effectiveness to match
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had a much smaller and cheaper air purifier that worked fine but, it was an eyesore, to say the least, and really only worked in one room. The Molekule Air purifier not only cleans and refreshes the air throughout nearly my 1000 sq ft apartment, but it is so beautiful it practically looks like home decor more than a purifier. Setup is a breeze and I found the app to be very user friendly. The whole process took less than 15 minutes. The Molekule Air does exactly what it is intended to do, and I'm very very pleased with it. For anyone seeking a high end, long-lasting, and elegantly sleek air purifier look no further as I would highly recommend it.

Noticeable difference the first morning
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Unboxing the unit was straight forward. It is very well packed with plenty of cardboard spacers to keep it from shipping damage. It comes with a nice draw string canvas bag and an extra 3 month pre-filter. I ran the unit on auto the first day and although it made enough sound that I could hear it in the other side of the house (1500sqft), it wasn't unpleasant. That night I placed the unit in my master bedroom and it asked me if I had moved it. Yes and it ask me to input the room size again. This time I chose 200-400, not the 600+ and in auto it was less noisy. I'm guessing it started of in low. It was running when I woke up and I immediately noticed I could breathe easier. I have a number of breathing issues and usually wake up stuffed up or needing to clear my nose with a neti pot. Not this morning! If that's all this thing does, then it's worth the price and the yearly investment for filters. It was the first night though and it will take many more mornings for me to fully believe this is what the doctor ordered. There is an app that needs to be downloaded. I believe it's available for iOs and Android. I use Android and had no issue installing the app or connecting to the unit. Some electronics are very difficult to get connected, but the Molekule Air App took minutes to recognize the unit and saved what little hair I have left. I can't think of much else to say about the unit. It seems to do exactly what it's designed to do. Run quiet and clean the air very well. On the downside..if there is one, the unit is rather tall and heavy. It has a great leather strap to lug it around, but if heft is any sign of quality, this thing is a beast and should last for a long time. For anyone that suffers from allergies, asthma, bronchitis etc., I'd highly recommend trying the Molekule. I believe they offer a trial period from their site and Best Buy should have a return policy based on your elite level. If you get the results that I did, I'm sure you'll keep the Air!

Posted .We’re no strangers to skepticism, but it's important to note that the articles criticizing our devices also admit to not being able to test our devices properly and their testing data doesn’t line up with independent testing from multiple nationally recognized labs/credible professionals in the space. This is a big part of why we encourage people to look to NRTLs. Excellent air purifier for any room
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As soon as I picked up the box I knew that this thing was well built. Setup was extremely easy using the app on my iPhone. Once the setup was complete the unit ran it's initial clean up mode that can take up to an hour to complete. The controls are accessible via the touchscreen on the top of the unit and also via your smartphone. It is important to note that you can only see the filter status if you connect the molekule to your WiFi network. Connecting to WiFi also lets you use the filter subscription model that is 4 operating mode which include auto,, boost, silent and dark mode. I mainly used the purifier in dark mode and allowed the purifier to self adjust. There are 2 filters on this unit, the PECO filter and the pre-filter. They are extremely easy to access and change, As per the manufacturer recommendations the PECO filter should be changed twice yearly and the pre-filter should be changed quarterly. As per real life use I did notice an improvement in the air quality of my room. I use a different brand of air purifier in my bedroom and noticed that it did not run nearly as long as it would on auto after I had the Molekule running for a few hours. The dust level in my room also was reduced. The carry handle on the unit and its modern look will let you place this unit in any room of your house without hesitation. Even though this unit is pricier than most I would recommend it

Does the job
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We have three people in our home with some type of asthma so I wanted to try something that may help keep the air free of allergens. I've tried other air purifiers which just didn't seem to do the job. This one does. It's perfect for the downstairs open floor plan and within a day we could tell the difference in air quality. My asthma is allergy induced and I stopped having any difficulty within that day, as long as I was downstairs in the open area. It has done so well we are planning to get minis for each of the bedrooms as well. There is an app that comes with this so you can adjust settings via your phone. My main con with this unit is the noise. While not overbearing, it can be distracting so placement of the unit is very important. I should note here that we have a very quiet house and live on a very quiet street so all noise can be distracting.

Impressive
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had this purifier running for a week now and I am really impressed. I have some major allergies to dust mites, pollen, and mold. This has been one of the worst allergy seasons ever for me and I have been forced to take extra medication on a frequent basis to try to keep things under control. I am amazed and happy to say that since the purifier started running in my bedroom, I have not needed any of my extra medicines. Before the purifier, I was using them every 1-2 days. Because my room doubles as my office at the moment, I spend a lot of time in it. There seems to be a noticeable difference in the air. Although it was my understanding that the unit would cycle on and off as needed in automatic mode, it has been running nonstop. At first, it was a bit annoying. But, a week into it, I am used to it and happy to have it running. The phone app is simple to use. It allows me to turn the unit on and off plus set a schedule for the light, if it is bothersome, and I can adjust the fan speed to quiet, boost, or automatic. My favorite color is blue and the light is not that bright to me, so I do not see the need to turn it off. The unit needs the light to properly clean, so it wants it on as much as possible. The quiet speed is truly quiet. We can barely hear it. Boost is supposed to just be used when necessary, such as after a major dusting. It sounds like a plane is preparing to takeoff, so it is definitely not something I would want constantly. The automatic speed is right in the middle and definitely tolerable after a few days. Considering I am not needing my extra medicine and I feel better, it is 100% tolerable to me. The app also shows the status of the filters and makes it easy to order replacements. They are expensive, so that is the one major con for me. Setup was pretty easy except the unit had trouble connecting to my WiFi. I had to restart it a few times before it successfully connected. Once connected, it downloaded some updates and went to work. Overall, I am happy.

My Favorite Air Filter Yet
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After the High Park Fires, I became something of an air filter enthusiast (because they were the ONLY things to be able to get the smoke smell out of our house). Molekule Air is one of the best air filters I've encountered. After a day, the air quality in our house was markedly improved. It took two similar large air filters two full days to do the same thing. I moved the air filter to the basement and it did similarly well. Where normally we'd be suffering through the start of allergy season, we seem to not have those same issues right now. The Air has two filters - a HEPA-type air filter and a PECO filter... the pre-filter filters out big stuff like dust... and the PECO filter zaps everything with UV-A, breaking down tiny pollutants. Unless you set the filter to "nighttime" mode, there's a gentle blue glow from the top at all times. There's a "silent" mode (the normal operation of the air filter is pretty quiet) and there's a "boost" mode (which is about as loud as a bathroom fan). Just to test efficacy, I burnt some popcorn... a smell that has a tendency to stick around. After an hour on "high" mode, the smell was significantly reduced. Even on Boost mode, the device doesn't have a noticeable "air filter smell". The touch-interface is interesting and the app is helpful. I had a minor issue on setup that was easily corrected by way of Molekule's help documentation on their website. Overall: a very, very good air filter; maybe not the most practical purchase for the price point, but if you spend a lot of time indoors or fighting allergies or smells/fumes, this is probably a really smart purchase.

Seems to work well
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The configuration was quick and simple.basically load up the app and follow the instructions. The app is quite useful but all the functions can be controlled from the display panel on the unit. There are 3 settings, I call them quiet (slow room cleaning aka silent), auto (normal) and jet turbine (aka boost). I honestly was waiting for it to hover when I turned on boost. There is a soothing blue light that emits from the top, this can be scheduled to go dark in the settings on the app. The blue light is part of the cleaning process, so you will want it on when not a distraction. Personally it is calming enough it does not bother me in the bedroom when sleeping. There are 3 different room size setting, under 200 square feet, 200-400 and over 400. On boost over 400 takes about 30 minutes to finish. It runs for about an hour in the same room on normal/auto mode. The build of the unit is unrivaled, think premium. It really feels like it could fit in any room and not be a distraction, unless you turn on boost. The first few nights sleeping I slept better, so I am assuming that it is doing its job, but I really have no proof. The air has been so dry, relative humidity below 30%, that it is hard to tell if the air is any better than before. I'll likely post an update in a few weeks if my thoughts change at all. So far so good, the important thing is I think it is working so that is half the battle.

Kind of a Meh air cleaner
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. With all the Hype over the Molekule Air I was pretty excited about it. Not being able to use methods to test the effectiveness without lab equipment brings it into the world of how one feels it works. Filter replacement can very according to use but it is recommended at PECO-Filter: every 6 months Pre-Filter: every 3 months The good: The Molekule Air has decent looks and would fit into a lot of different places in your home without looking out of place. Sound in auto and silent mode is decent and non-distracting. (kind of like white noise). Weight is 18 lbs and the strap makes it easy to transport. The unit is easy to take apart and replace the filters. The app really isn’t needed to use the product. Using in a room of just under 300 Sq. ft. I could notice some air improvement ( I do have allergies and pollen is bad this time of year..) The light on the top can be turned off (but then the PECO-Filter is not effective) The bad: Noisy on boost mode, the size of the fan sounds like a jet when it goes into high gear. The app is pretty useless and has an average rating of two stars in Google play. The product does not connect to other home automation products. There is a smell from the filter that even after a week doesn’t go away. It isn’t overly strong but it isn’t what was expected. In a just under 600 Sq. ft. area I really haven’t noticed the difference in air quality. The filters show they are getting used so it is doing something. I have allergies and haven’t noticed any help in a large area room of just less than 600 Sq. ft A room half that size I could notice a difference. It seems to me the unit does not pass a significant amount of air through the system to do the job well.. WiFi enabled at only the 2.4 GHz band. When turning off the light you turn off the PECO-Filters effective use.

Trash
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought Molekule about a year ago, was super excited at the beginning and then all the bad things came, devices will disconnect every week or 2 weeks, taking me at least 30 minutes to reconnect all of my 7 devices, auto refill doesn't work either! My filters arrived about a week after my filter showed 0% when contacted Molekule they stated "the divide will still work, not 100% effective but will work" Really??? I didn't buy such an expensive equipment to work just ok. very disappointed in Molekule Ohhhh and the app is total trash!! don't work, wont let you know when is time to change filter etc I can go on
