My laptop is still sitting at Best Buy. They want to know if I wanna donate it. I still have to pay for it on the credit card, but they didn’t say anything about having to pay shipping charges when they should fix it right on site like it says in the book.

Sometimes things spill so it is good to have protection.

They are difficult to communicate with. I have to allow several hours before beginning an issue, it takes that long for the first level, then transferred to second level, and occasionally, third level for them to remote in and fix a problem.

The plan is great with Best Buy, because they will take care of you if things went south

Best Buy Total Membership won't let you buy an extended warranty. They give you 24 months but only if you buy the membership for both years. They completely take away the option of buying the 5 year warranty. I tried to buy a refrigerator, but I could not buy the 5 year warranty as a Best Buy Total member. I was told I could do 2 things. 1. Check out as a guest and buy the refrigerator with the 5 year warranty, however, I would lose the membership discount of $150 which I paid for when I bought the membership. 2. I could purchase the $49 Best Buy Plus membership which doesn't include the tech support, which is one of the biggest reasons I bought the Total plan. That would give me the option of buying the 5 year warranty but I'd still lose some of the discount that came with the Total membership and waste another $50 on another useless membership. Basically, you have less benefit options and it forces you to buy into the membership for a 2nd year for more money with less coverage. You're punished for buying it. The insurance plan is less money for 5 years of coverage, but the refrigerator would also cost $150 more buying as a guest. Another issue, if you need computer support your Geek Squad coverage comes from India and you must let them take over your computer to get help, which all internet security software companies tell you not to do. If your computer needs repair, you have to pay to send it to Geek Squad who sends it to the manufacturer making it take more time and you only receive a discount on the repair. I purchased the HP's extended 3 year warranty for $49 when HP offered a large discount to buy it directly from them. My computer screen was damaged. HP sent a pre-paid shipping box the next day. My computer was repaired within 2 days and returned free of charge. They tested everything, replaced 2 worn keys and a speaker that I never even mentioned, and it didn't cost anything extra with the HP $49 warranty. I won't be buying any more memberships from Best Buy. I won't be purchasing anything else from Best Buy unless it's an incredible bargain. I definitely don't recommend Best Buy memberships, there really isn't much of a value. Just read the reviews of people who needed service and what they went through to get it.
