I have kids who lose and destroy things constantly, so protection plans are a must. Nothing to spectacular, but worth the expense.

Provides extended coverage for all items I have purchased while the plan is in force instead of having to purchase plans separately, but there are fewer perks each time terms change.

I purchased a washer dryer from Best Buy on August 12th and paid for installation on August 16th. It broke down on August 25th, just two weeks after purchase. As a Best Buy Total member, I pay nearly $200 annually and believed I had up to 24 months of product protection. When I reached out to customer care, the experience was a complete nightmare. The representatives were unhelpful and dismissive, and I had to speak to four different agents with hours of frustrating back and forth, despite my membership benefits. I feel completely let down by Best Buy's service and regret trusting them with my purchase. Do not fall for this trap! If you're considering buying from them, think twice about their so-called protection plans and customer service.

Update: I regret this purchase. After owning this coffeemaker for 10 month -- Cuisinart DCC-1100BK, the Cuisinart website shows that it has been discontinued.

Last September I purchased an Apple computer from Best Buy with the Best Buy Total and Applecare included in the purchase. So when my computer stopped charging 4 months later I made an appointment with Geek Squad. The agent plugged his charging unit into the computer and it worked fine and he concluded that the charging unit that came with the computer had inadequate power (35 watt to his 65 watt). When I asked why it had functioned well for 4 months, he was at a loss for words or explanation. I then conducted my own diagnosis - used my 35 watt charger and his cable = charging. His 65 watt charger and my cable = no charge. Therefore the charging cable was faulty. I was dumbfounded that he simply jumped to a conclusion rather than even conducting the simplest of exploration of what the problem might be. So when it came to replacing a charging cable, Best Buy would't do it and referred me to Applecare with a shrug of his shoulders. Applecare was very good and I ended up ordering a replacement cable through them. But Best Buy Total, the Best Buy store and the Geek Squad all dropped the ball and failed to live up to expectations. They made great promises for service, but they have not delivered the product (Best Buy Total) that I purchased. I am very disappointed in Best Buy.
