I am a loyal Best Buy customer, and until this evening, I had not had any disappointing purchases. I purchased the Thrustmaster T248 Racing Wheel and Magnetic Pedals for PS5. The open-box item was advertised as being in "excellent condition." The website described such an item as one that "works and looks like new" and "includes all original parts, packaging and accessories (or suitable replacement)." When I unpacked the box, the product was the opposite of what was advertised. It was filthy with debris and what appeared to be food stains on the wheel paddles that I needed to clean. The owner's manual was missing, and the gas pedal was damaged. Apparently, the quality control of a returned product in so-called "excellent condition" was poor and careless. This is not the first open-box item I purchased. I am sometimes willing to buy a used or refurbished item, as long as it's in a resellable condition and has gone through a thorough quality control process. I've had a good experience with open-box purchases at Best Buy. Unfortunately, with the Thrustmaster T248 Racing Wheel and Magnetic Pedals, someone failed to recognize that this item should never have been resold until it was cleaned, repaired, and tested to ensure it is in good working condition. I will be returning the racing wheel tomorrow.
