    Unconventional Sci-fi

Debut of little known sci-fi director Duncan Jones, this movie is an amazing movie in it's own right. Actor Sam Rockwell does an amazing job and he shines in this duel role as a believable engaging actor. It's essentially a solo act like "Castaway" was for Tom Hanks. Kevin Spacey plays a robot supporting voice actor, and interjects with his quirkiness but provides a subtle supporting role which blends in perfectly. Unlike other sci-fi movies, there are no monsters, explosions, space battles or aliens...but it's more about humans, more specifically a working man and the loneliness/alienation of space. Think "Space Odyssey: 2010". This is unlike most other sci-fi movies out there and actually throws you the plot twist in the beginning of the movie and makes you think about it for the rest of the movie along with Sam Rockwell. You feel what he feels, you think what he thinks. The cinematography is top-notch, and while not a high budget movie, it feels real and as if it's not in the distant future, but could take place a couple years from now. It's not a vibrant movie, for the moon is quite a dull and gray place, but this is exactly why this movie was done so well because it portrays the grittiness amazingly well. The musical score is amazingly eerie, but brings out the inner most emotions and compliments the movie well. Overall, this movie is an innovative, dark, psychological movie which I believe everyone (not just sci-fi fans) should see. This is probably Sam Rockwell's best performance yet. The story is deep and well drawn out, but it's not perfect. It's hard to say what's wrong with it because there's really no big flaws, but it seems like the the pacing was slightly off. Even so, overall 5/5.

    New and Original

I expected this movie to be good because I've heard good things about but when I saw the trailer I expected a completely different story than what actually happened. It's a movie that can be confusing at times but if you pay close attention it's a very easy movie to understand. It's easily one of the better movies from 2009 and is very original. Sam Rockwell is awesome as astronaut Sam Bell in Moon and probably the best acting performance of the year. It's a psychological type movie that you have to put things together a lot but I enjoy those type of movies like the machinist, secret window, donnie darko, etc. Please give this movie a shot, it deserves it. I rented it and now have to buy it, it is awesome.

    Brilliant, Bold Idea Film

In the vein of 2001: A Space Odyssey, Duncan Jones directorial debut is a fascinating look at several facets of human nature. And like Source Code, his second effort, Moon is a somber film concerned more with ideas and the characters forced to endure those ideas. Really, I can't recommend this film enough. My only reasoning for giving it 4 stars rather than 5 is because it's tone is such that you won't really want to watch it over and over again. I'll likely revisit it maybe twice a year or so. This is the sort of film to which you really have to dedicate your time. It's not a popcorn flick. It's an artistic work - well-considered, compelling without being judgmental, and introspective. Magnificent film.

    An Excellent thinker movie

I'd never heard of this movie and had reservations as to how good it would be because of that. It's a real mind bender of a movie with some interesting commentary about solitude and the value of human life. I like introspective movies like this. If you like movies like 2001, Solaris or Vanilla Sky, you'll probably like this one. It's not an action movie but the story is well thought out and Sam Rockwell does an amazing job. The score is quite good too. Nothing special but it works well to amplify the mood of the movie. I highly recommend this movie.

You dont have to be a sci-fi fan to get this movie. This movie is much deeper than that..Rockwell gives a awesome performance, I happen to be a huge fan of his work. This is an instant classic a must have in my opinion..It really gets in your head

I don't want to say much about this movie for fear of giving away just how smart this movie is and the great twists it takes. Sam Rockwell plays the main (practically only) role with an amazing amount of range. It will make you wonder why he isn't getting more lead roles.

    Thought-provoking sci-fi

With several references to the sci-fi classic, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Duncan Jones first film that takes place on a remote colony on the moon is one of the best sci-fi films I've seen in recent years. Sam Rockwell is a one-man show (with the exception of Kevin Spacey as the HAL-like A.I.) that delivers an outstanding performance playing several characters. I won't spoil anything, but you're in for one exciting, introspective, intelligent little sci-fi film.

    Alone with yourself

This move at its core is about loneliness and how, when your far away from your family and cut off you start to question your sanity and humanity. Its hard to say more with out giving away the plot, but its takes a different turn on those points that you have seen before. I truly enjoyed it.
