Hit or miss charging placement with phone cover on

We have had several instants where it quits charging and flashes and we have to re-place the phone on the charger to get it to start charging again. It does charge up right or side ways as advertised when working.

Easy/Effective iPhone charger

Only downside is the need to unplug when not in use but I simply have it set on an outlet that has a switch.
