The worst choice i have ever made, leaks water. Bad

I have used this Mr Coffee coffee maker several times now and have been very pleased with the results. It came with a glass carafe that can make up to 12 cups and 1 water filter disk and holder. You need to buy your own coffee filters. Several features that I like about it are: 1. It beeps when your coffee has finished brewing. 2. The Auto-Pause feature. If you’re in a hurry to try that first cup, you can remove the carafe during the brewing process and pour a cup. The brewing pauses while the carafe is not in place. When you return the carafe to the coffee maker, the brewing continues. 3. It has a 2-hour “stay warm” feature, but for safety, it automatically shuts off after 2 hrs. 4. It has a fresh brew timer that automatically starts as soon as a brew is complete. It lets you know how long ago that last pot of coffee was made. 5. I like that you can open the section for pouring water separately. It keeps any splashed water out of your coffee grounds. 6. Regular or Strong Brew options 7. The carafe has a hinged lid which makes it so much easier to use. I had one that had to be removed each time and it was a tight fit and I had to struggle with it every day. Not having a hinged lid would be a deal-breaker for me after putting up with that other carafe for so long! 8. You can make the whole pot or just 4 cups of coffee without compromising on taste. 9. Speed – It brews quickly, which is amazing since I always use the “Stronger Brew” feature. 10. Filter placement. At first I wasn’t happy about the filter placement. It sits over the coffee grounds and under the water spout. I thought moving this every time was going to be a hassle, but since it sits so easily in place, it only takes a second. But the main thing I like about it is that it lets me set the month that I bought the filter and it reminds me to replace it. Other coffee makers hide the filter, and once installed, I never thought about them again, making them pretty useless after a while. I will definitely remember to replace my filter in this coffee maker. Of course, you have the option of not using the filter at all. 11. Cleaning mode: There is a button on the machine for cleaning calcified mineral deposits. For decalcifying, you can use 20 oz of vinegar or buy the Mr Coffee “Cleaner” and follow the directions in the manual. The main thing I like about this is that it has a setting which brews part of your cleaning solution then pauses for a specified time before continuing to brew the remaining solution. Afterwards, you just brew 2 pots of fresh water to rinse out the solution from inside your coffee maker. Cons: My cons are minimal. 1. It doesn’t come with a stainless steel permanent filter. But this can actually be a plus because I was able to choose the one I wanted to buy. 2. The top lifts up instead of swinging out. Because it lifts up, I have to move it from under my kitchen cabinet every time I use it. If it swung out, I would be able to add the water and coffee grounds without moving the coffee maker. 3. I wish it would tell me when it is time to run the Decalcifying mode. I’ve had machines that do this. The manual says if you have soft water (we have a water softener), you should run it every 80 pots. For hard water, every 40 pots. I first tried it out brewing with a paper filter and 8 cups of water. The next time, I used a paper filter with 4 cups of water. Then I began using the stainless filter that I had purchased. Lastly, I set the timer so that the coffee maker would brew a pot and be waiting for me when I woke up. All results were very good. I used the “strong brew” feature for all tests. I could not tell any difference in the taste between brewing 4 cups to 12 cups. All brews tasted good. When I switched to the stainless filter, the coffee taste was even better so I will continue to use that filter instead of paper filters. My overall suggestions for using this coffee maker. 1. Place it where you don’t have to move it to fill it every time. 2. Use a permanent filter so that you don’t filter out the oils. This will give you the best flavor. 3. The best flavor come from strong brew so if I wanted a weaker cup of coffee, I would use a little less coffee instead of using “regular brew”. I would recommend this coffee maker, but I think it really should come with a permanent filter to deserve 5 stars. My other 2 cons are just related to inconvenience but the filter makes a difference in the coffee flavor, so I think that is an important feature missing from this coffee maker.

Worked well until today. Heating element went out. Thats a lot of money for something that wont last very long.

FLIP TOP BROKE AFTER A FEW MONTHS SO NOW IT IS ONLY ATTACHED BY ONE PIECE. THERE SEEMS TO BE AN ISSUE WITH WITH THE GRINDS SOMEHOW LEAKING INTO THE SURROUNDING AREAS. I HATE THIS COFFEE MAKER BUT WILL KEEP USING IT UNTIL THE TOP BREAKS COMPLETELY OFF. WILL NOT BUY AGAIN.

Basket doesn’t fit. Water condensation is present. Disappointed in purchase.

Will never purchase this again. It is was a waste of money. The coffee tastes burnt or bad. I use the same brand coffee for years. I purchased a ninja maker instead and it brews great tasting coffee

This Mr Coffee Strong Brew coffee maker make a great pot of coffee and looks great on my counter. I have had a lot of trouble with my old coffee maker, which was the type where it stores a the "pot" internally and you can pour yourself a cup at a time. It just turned out to be too much of a hassle to clean. This Mr Coffee unit offers really similar looks without the difficulty in cleaning. The strong brew strength is my preferred setting, as I don't mind if it takes a little longer for me to get that first cup in the morning. If your family has different times to start the day, the fresh brew timer is a good feature, if you're not sure what time your partner started the coffee maker in the morning and don't want the bitter stale coffee that's been sitting for over an hour.

I have spent the last week with this coffee maker using it every morning. It brews a nice cup, is programmable, and is very easy to clean. Nothing more I could ask for.

I've been using a pod coffee maker for a number of years and didn't think the Mr. Coffee coffeemaker would make any difference. I opened the package and it included the unit and a carbon filter. I read the instructions and proceeded to clean/rinse the unit for it's first brew. I used dish soap and warm water to wash the decanter, filter basket and carbon filter holder. I then ran a brew without coffee or filter to rinse the unit. The booklet said this unit brews 8 and 12 cups, but I just needed to test it, so I tried 4 cups. Elsewhere in the instructions, it states how many tablespoons of coffee to use and it was 3 for 4 cups. I added a natural 8-12 cup filter, 3 tablespoons of my local grocer's decaf and pressed the brew now button. It made just under 4 cups, which was about a mug and a half to test the unit with. I mentioned my use of pods because...wow, I forgot how much better brewed coffee tastes. Not that I don't enjoy the pods and the convenience, but a few extra steps and I get a great hot beverage with great taste. Other options on this unit are a time/brew delay, a clock so that you can utilize said delay and tell time, a strong brew selector, a clean cycle selector and a 2 hour automatic shut off. The carbon filter removes up to 97% of the chlorine in the water so your coffee just tastes better. It's stated to be good for about 30 brew cycles and then users should purchase a new one. My overall impressions are: it makes a great tasting pot of joe, the unit looks nice but it feels really light and a bit cheap. I like the control placement and it's clear what options you are running. I don't like that if you overfill the reservoir, there are two overflow openings that will spill water onto your counter-top. I would rather have had it smart enough to know how much water to use to make said amount. I guess that's why making a 4 cup for testing worked. I filled the reservoir to the 4 cup level. It just brews until it's out of water. Once it's out of water, I do like the 5 chimes that notify the user that the unit is done brewing. I'd recommend this to someone looking for a decent unit to make a great cup of coffee, but isn't looking to make a frothy coffee house drink. They make other units for that. This is just for coffee and it gives you the extra options you'll want to be successful.

I've had this same coffee maker for approx. 7 years which was significantly more expensive at the time. Happy to say, it's worked flawlessly with great reliability. Also very simple to operate with a good amount of features. I'm replacing it with this new one because the glass carafe finally cracked. This current new one is seemingly identical with one exception - the glass carafe is now clearly made of thinner glass, which gives some cause for concern, considering the older version with thicker glass is what finally broke prompting the replacement. I do have my doubts about the fragility of this new one in that regard and time will tell. If not for that, I would give it a 5 star rating. Otherwise, it's a good unit with enough features that has provided years of problem free service. Of interest, the current sale price of this entire unit costs almost the same money as it does to replace just the carafe.

Got the new 12 cup programmable coffee maker to replace an aging Keurig. it works great. Easy to use and program to have my coffee ready when I get up. It also has a few convenient features I enjoy including the washable reusable filter basket and settings for strong flavor brews. Its a solid choice for a basic coffee maker that does what I need it to with a few extra bells and whistles to make it well worth the price!

Purchased The coffee maker, Mr. coffee 12 cup coffee maker, The coffee comes out tasty. I wish it was not plastic. Easy to program. I would recommend it.

Who doesn’t love a nice hot coffee in the morning, I know I do and this Mr. Coffee delivers with a consistent brew every day. There are plenty of coffee markers out there that do fancy tricks and charge lots of money for it. But, if your not interested in any of that and just want a coffee maker that will make 12 cups of great coffee, this will do the trick. The overall build is what would be expected at this price range. It’s made almost entirely of plastic and does not have a premium feel, but it still looks pretty sleek sitting on the counter. The stainless steel finish matches pretty well with my appliances. It doesn’t come with a permanent filter, but does come with a filter to give you a cleaner brew. Using the coffee maker is dead simple, there is a button to brew and delay brew. Delay brew being you brew at a time you specify. There’s a button to select strength and then a few buttons to set the time and delay brew time. It’s super easy to use, no one will get confused with menus or knobs here. It brews pretty quickly, I brew 12 cups every morning and it gets it done in no time. The warmer keeps the pot really hot for a couple hours before it shuts off, but not too hot so it doesn’t get a burnt taste. Clean up is a breeze. The filter cup comes out easy and you just dump it and start over. Overall, if you’ve used a standard coffee maker, you’ll be right at home here, it’s nothing fancy, but it works!

This is an excellent coffee maker. I love that you can tell it to brew your coffee at a certain time. I use that all the time! It's a very attractive and high-end looking. Build quality is excellent. This will make 12 cups of coffee and has an alert to tell you when to descale for the best taste!
