Decent Card, Decent Price,
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this card to replace the GPU in a pre-built gaming system. The MSI RX 5500 XT is nothing special, but it was better than the GPU that came pre-installed, and doubled the video memory in my rig from 4GB to 8GB. This is no GTX 2070, despite having the same amount of video memory... but it gets the job done. It gives me an acceptable frame rate of 30fps on the ground and 40fps above 10,000 ft on Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 on the high end setting. If I kick that up to Ultra, it runs at 21-30fps. That is a considerable improvement over Microsoft Flight Simulator’s frame rate on the stock GPU on medium... Everything else I play from Shadow of Tomb Raider to Control can run on the highest settings at about 55fps at 1080p, but I think that limit is more a function of my monitor’s refresh rate and freesync. I would not recommend going any higher than 1080p on this card. My one complaint is the height of the card and the position of the 8-pin outlet for the power cable. Using this in a pre-built system, case size was a bit of a problem, and I needed an adapter to redirect the power cable in order to get the case the close. Probably not a problem for most users, but something to consider. Ultimately, this GPU does what I need it to, and it does it while allowing me to stick to the budget I set. (Side note: the specs recommend a 450w PSU, but on a pre-built system, AMD states that you can get away with less wattage. Personally, mine uses a 400w PSU and I have no problems even when the card draws the full 130 watt TPD. Ironically, the stock card that came in my system recommended a 550w PSU...)

Great card for 1080p gaming.
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was just needing to play games at 1080p resolution on an old in i7 3770. This card barely fit in my HP case I hadn't realized how wide (5 inches) the card was. So far this card has not let me down. I've also used it for H.265 VCE encoding and it's speed up processing times as compared to my old CPU. AMD has updated the drivers once since I've had it and I do like the ability to report bugs via the bug report option. I know there are more powerful cards out there, but for the price and my CPU capabilities, it's a fair deal in this GPU market. GPU cards never really seem to go down in price and I've been waiting since 2015 for them to do so between the Crypto mining boom and Covid disruptions. Folks will say to wait until the end of the year, but I have my doubts that card prices will fall that much on newer and more efficient lower end cards like theses. It's almost been a full year since this model came out at it's still at regular price. Hopefully with Intel getting in the market sooner than later and AMD becoming more competitive that prices will fall as they both compete with NVIDIA.

A nice upgrade, but not infallible
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This GPU is good for what it is which is a big upgrade from onboard CPU graphics processing but not incredibly powerful like some newer models. Its biggest disadvantage is the size of it, which makes installing things like, for example, a pro capture card a little more difficult, but definitely not impossible. Overall very pleased and time will tell in regards to lasting power. I should also note that I bought this on sale; not sure I would pay full price for this when there are newer models for a comparable price.
