good am4 motherboard, no bios update needed to use ryzen 5

I'll start by stating that I have built a few gaming computers over the past few years and I can tell you from my experience...MSI motherboards are THE WORST! The reason for buying the MSI B550 Tomahawk Max WiFi mobo was that I offered to teach one of my underprivileged students how to "build" a computer. (All money spent was my own.) We made a deal that if he can build it, then he can keep it. The student followed my guidance, did everything correctly (we had all brand new parts - CPU, mobo, monitor, RAM, etc.), and when we went to turn it on...NOTHING! The monitor would not identify. We troubleshot everything - the cables, GPU, etc. Still, no luck. I had the student take everything apart and put it all back together and...NOTHING! I eventually had to take it to a repair shop where we narrowed it down to one of two issues, either it was the RAM or the motherboard. So back to Best Buy to buy MORE RAM, (another $50) plugged the new RAM in and...NOTHING! As explained, this was a build that I spent my own money on for a student of mine and it was so disheartening as what should have taken 3-4 class periods wound up taking a few weeks. So, by the time I had a chance to return the motherboard I had gone over Best Buy's 15 day return policy and was stuck with a brand new, $170 motherboard that was DoA! BB's staff said that I could send it to MSI and they should be able to fix it so I called them, created an invoice ticket and shipped it out for another $18. In the meantime I went online and ordered an ASUS mobo which I have NEVER had issues with. (Another $100) At least we got that up and running...finally...and the student was able to take their new computer home! All that said, it wasn't just this experience with MSI. About two years ago I had purchased another MSI motherboard and recall that I had nothing but problems with that one as well, so much so that I literally tossed the thing on the ground and stomped on it into pieces! MSI has been nothing but worthless in my experience and I will NEVER purchase another motherboard from them. (***I will say they make an amazing monitor, though!) This MSI-B550 is currently at their HQ waiting to be fixed and returned so we shall see if they honor their pledge. Still, if it is fixed and they do send it back then I will have a motherboard with no need for one.

Upgraded from the x570 Gaming Edge Wifi. The wifi card supports wifi 6 which runs much faster that motherboards without it. Overall great and reliable motherboard

Solid motherboard, the build quality is pretty good and boots fast

Ss far so good, been running in my new build for about 3 weeks now...Doesn't sync with Corsair Icue...Shipped to me in large box with 2 other items with no packing material...looked like it might have been open before I received it, anti-static bag wasn't sealed, missing driver cd, warranty card, stickers, and m.2 screws....this might be a Best Buy issue more than a MSI one....

I am more than satisfied with the product, it arrived in perfect condition just in the correct time frame, I thought it was a great purchase!! Without a doubt it deserves 5 stars

Amazing quality. I’ve been using this motherboard without any issues for months now! The audio is great and the lighting on the motherboard is beautiful. The VRM heat sink is a absolute beauty of a heat sink. It works very well in cooling

Caused artifacts on screen, my guru said it was due to PCI bus not being wide enough. I will stick to upper range chips in each generation from now on... unsure why I deviated...

Solid mobo that I used to make kids PC. Has anything you would need and more. Like that it has robust cooling elements. Sleek look and great value.

Very clean looking motherboard. Has some Rgb lighting on it and can fit in almost every case.

Great value for perfomance and that should be the main selling point for the board. Easy to install. I did mess up the front PCI slots but that was a mistake on my part. Be very careful when wiring it.

This is the motherboard for my recent RGB Gaming PC build so far its working very well with the system. The one complaint I have is with the bluetooth adapter. It has very poor range, for some reason, and a lot of latency with controllers. Wifi adapter works well.

He loves how his computer runs now; faster and no pop ups!

this motherboard was a upgrade from a basic microATX i had. Has newer tech in it for gen 4 M.2 drives way faster. I think it has 6 connectors for fans and also a pump connector as well. 6 SATA ports and 2 M.2 slots
