    2070 Super; 32GB RAM; 240hz; 1TB; + 1 open slot

5 star product, 4 star sales experience. I bought this laptop mainly to have a 2070 super. I wanted the "best GPU" that was affordable with 1TB of space at least. The 2070 super outperforms the 2080 Max Q and in some instances outperforms the Super MAX Q. In my eyes the only other mobile GPU that can outright outperform it is the 2080 Super but the prices for those laptops are obscene. I found the purchase experience with Bestbuy to be worse than what I am used to. 1st, no store within 250mi had any MSI laptop in stock. When I bought this laptop, I thought I could pick it up that evening. Sadly this was not the case. I was so used to being able to purchase anything and pick it up the same day, that I didn't notice their sign saying in stock in 3 weeks. After checking out and then realizing it would be 3 weeks before I could pick it up in store, I was faced with a decision. I could pay $20 to have it in 1 week or $50 to have it in 5 days. This is why I gave this review 4 stars. I was forced to pay $50 to have it delivered in 5 days.... I needed a laptop soon, this is why I chose Bestbuy to begin with. If you visit their website without signing in, in does not show whether stores have it in stock or not. Had I known before hand I would probably have bought from Amazon and another brand that had the 2070 super. The laptop overall is what you would expect. There are only two things that stand out to me. 1st is the fan loudness. Others have pointed this out in their reviews. Make no mistake these babies are loud, BUT they do their job. I am in the camp of always having my fans on. I dislike this passive fan business that has been slowly creeping on the pcindustry, where the fans are set to 0 until a certain thermal threshold is passed. I am using my own fan curve and have set my fans to always be 20% on. This is easily done within MSI's Dragon Center. 20% or so the noise is barely audible. Fans above 25% you will know the fans are on and working. The second thing I would like to mention is the power brick. It is a modest size something you expect for a laptop that is close to a desktop replacement. But that isn't the problem the problem is the length of the cord that connects from the power brick to the laptop. I feel it is wayyyyyyyyyyy toooooooo shortttttttttt. I am using a short table and this struggles to connect to my laptop. I can't imagine going to a cafe or office with high tables, you will be forced to carry or place the power brink on the same plane that your laptop is. This is a major oversight in my book. The laptop has no other negative or attention needed parts to itself. It can do office work. It can game, just loudly. I am very satisfied with my purchase but not very satisfied with the price I had to pay for it. I know that laptops are at a premium at the moment so there is really no one to blame. Had this been a year from now and I was actually buying a new 3000 series mobile GPU then sure, I would be happy to pay this price. But buying a soon to be obsolete mobile GPU for a premium price..... If the reader can wait and doesn't need a laptop then they should wait. If they cannot and must have a laptop. This MSI GE 66 Raider 10SFS is one of the better deals if you are exclusively looking for a better GPU. The model I bought has 240hz 15"monitor, 32GB of ram, 1TB of Space. It also has another open slot to add more hard drive space. And yes this is the 2070 SUPER. IT is not the max Q version which is why it is more expensive !

Amazing computer. Running everything I’ve thrown at it at max settings. Squadrons on max settings I’m getting about 90 FPS. Little noisy when maxing out, but not overwhelmingly loud, it doesn’t pick up on my streaming mic hardly at all.

This laptop run games really well and for $500 off I think it's worth getting but at normal price I wouldn't get it. Build quality is solid and heavy since it mostly metal but I think it worth the trade-off for the premium build quality.

This laptop is great. I previously bought a different brand before this but returned it for this and couldn’t be happier. Only con so far is the speakers on this laptop. They are horrible. Runs the new Assassin’s creed on ultra flawless.

Recently purchased the MSI GE66 and have to say it is amazing! Between the design, the performance, and the convenience it is most definitely worth it! I had been searching for a laptop that would provide me with what I needed and this is it!

I just bought this item last week and let me tell you - it’s a beautiful computer. Best Buy said it wouldn't ship for about a week, but it came three days later. the computer is quick, efficient, and again, beautifully made. Time to game away!

I'm going to be honest, I am a novice when it comes to buying computers and laptops. I felt very out of date when shopping for one. I did know that I was not afraid to spend more than I had in the past for a computer because I wanted it to handle some of the future gaming that will come out and to really enjoy streaming. For my day to day work, it obviously is overkill. I was able to make the choice thanks to the help of a sales rep at Best Buy. My co-workers all had their input as well and game me the specs I needed to consider. I know I have some time ahead of me to really discover what this laptop is capable of. I love the dragon center software on board that automatically adjusts your settings in relation to either gaming, streaming a movie, etc. I'm certainly happy I spent the money to enjoy this for many years.

This laptop is absolutely amazing from the outside looks of it to the specs inside. I was a little leary about this laptop because online it looks so big and bulky. I went to the local best buy store so I can see this laptop in person. It is perfect. When shopping for a laptop I am all about the looks and specs. This just happened to fit my needs. Prior to buying this computer I had a MSI Stealth Thin, I loved that laptop and was so sad to see it go however owning this laptop has definitely made up for it. Typical games I play are Call of Duty, Fortnite, and a Virtual World. I have not experienced any lag with this laptop so far. The only complain I would have is the fans can be noisy depending on what game you are running, and how much is going on in the background. However, I highly recommend this computer.

I'm a professional technical writer who hasn't upgraded from my old computer in almost seven years. I was looking for a powerful, and portable, computer for writing, basic video editing, and gaming. For the basics, this laptop is fast! I was able to get it set up and launched in a hurry, installed Adobe Premiere Pro and was editing and compiling in no time. While compiling I hopped into Destiny 2 for some Crucible to see how well the laptop would handle such stressful multitasking. Not to my surprise, the laptop handled well for the specs. The 2070 SUPER certainly helps with many straining situations on the laptop. My only complaint about the laptop is the screen build quality. There is a lot of flex in the middle of the screen that could have been resolved with a third hinge to stabilize the build.

O issues at all with the laptop, when I bought it I knew the fans would be annoying if you don’t have a headset, and your running triple A titles, other than that it runs any game like a charm. A cooling pad can help.

    Screen Hinge Issue

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

It worked fine for a few years, but the hinges finally gave out on the screen. This is an ongoing issue with MSI, and similar issues are easy to find with a search (as this affects more than just the Raider series). This damage is not from dropping the laptop—the hinges give out after some use. It's a lottery of how long they last. I am debating whether to get it replaced (the screen may be a little damaged from it) or just buy something else (a different brand). As a long-time MSI customer, I am very disappointed. I probably won't use MSI for my new PC build either. Shame.

Good laptop. Good amount of storage. Good graphics. Nothing spectacular. Battery life is pretty subpar, 2ish hours if you’re actually using it for gaming or watching videos. Try to stay near an outlet if you want to use it longer.

    Standout Gaming Laptop

The GE66 Raider has exceeded all of my expectations for a gaming laptop. The SFS model with the full 115W RTX 2070 Super blows away $3000+ laptops with 2080 Max Q cards. It also includes 32GB of RAM, a 1TB SSD, a full 1080p webcam and a 99.9Wh battery which are very uncommon upgrades for this price point. I've been playing Watch Dogs 2, GTA V, Fallout 4, Black Desert Online and more at Ultra settings with great framerates (60+ to over 100) and the 240hz display panel looks great, even if no games actually hit 240 FPS. This thing beats the desktop I built just a few years ago in almost every regard. The only criticism is the same one I had read elsewhere while researching laptops before deciding to go with this one: The CPU runs a little hot at full load, the GPU never hops above 68°C, but the CPU will hit the higher 95°C that MSI allows before thermal throttling. It doesn't feel particularly hot on the keys or your lap, but for longevity it is ideal to keep it under 90° or so. The fan noise isn't too bad on Extreme Performance mode, but once you turn on "Cooler Boost" it gets a little jet engine-y. I undervolted the CPU by around 0.130V with Throttlestop which helped keep the CPU around 90°C, though this requires acessing the Advanced BIOS settings and messing with Throttlestop or XTU, which is not necessarily the easiest thing for a casual user. I've gotten about 6 hours of battery life when not gaming and about 90 minutes while playing The Sims 4 on battery.
