Most if not all my games on this system either crash or don't even start. When downloading anything the system slows to a crawl and CPU usage is at a constant 50% or higher. Garbage system please avoid at all costs

A laptop at this $2200 price tag doesn't even have thunderbolt 3 which is a big disappointment. I ended up returning this laptop and bought the Lenovo Legion 7 which has the same specs, cheaper, and has thunderbolt 3.

I purchased this for architectural work and not gaming but the capabilities for virtual reality which I needed to run Enscape and it's speed make it a great laptop. The fan does get loud at times which doesn't bother me but my be an issue for some. This is a heavy duty laptop and it is not thin and lightweight so if that is what you need this may not be for you. If you need a hard core worker then I would recommend it. Also it looks super cool with the color full lights with plenty of ports as well.

    Top of the line laptop!

I bought this laptop to replace my Toshiba Satellite. Even though my old laptop was decent by most standards (Intel Core i7, 8GB of RAM, 500GB SSD), it struggled to handle the sort of heavy-duty applications I depend on. I'm not a gamer, but I do 4K video editing, photo editing, and programming. Adobe's Creative Cloud software was simply too much for my old PC to handle. Not surprisingly, the MSI GE66 tackles these applications with ease. Besides the obvious performance boost, I was also pleasantly surprised by the following features: 1. There are THREE video outputs on the back: HDMI, mini display port, and USB-C. This makes it possible to connect three extra monitors and achieve the ultimate workstation (or gaming lair, depending on your preference). 2. The RGB lights can be easily controlled using the FN key + F9. There are ten different light patterns to choose from. You can also turn the lights off to create a semblance of professionalism at the office. 3. Internet is super fast. I subscribe to gigabit internet, but my old Toshiba only delivered around 300 mb via ethernet. I'm getting about 900 now! My only complaints are very minor: 1. I miss having a nine-digit number pad on the keyboard, but I can use an external one instead. 2. The speakers are not good at all, but this is remedied with headphones. Realistically, it would be very difficult to fit high quality (i.e. big) speakers into this laptop considering the other hardware they've packed in. 3. The power brick is huge. I considered buying a second one to keep at my home office, but I cannot find them for sale anywhere. I'm sure I could order one directly from MSI at an exorbitant price. All in all, I'm very pleased with this purchase.

    Great gaming laptop

I bought this laptop in order to play games and it runs games wonderfully. Everything feels buttery smooth and the cooling works well. The fans do get loud on the highest setting while running games, so it's best to use a pair of headphones. The keyboard is very light, which I don't mind, but it may not be the best for people who like keyboards with more tactical response. The keypad is a bit hard to press, but I use a mouse so I don't use it much. From a design perspective, I'm not a huge fan of the raised armor-like design on the lid or the cyberpunk font on the keys. Those weren't the main factors I was looking for in a laptop, but it may be something to keep in mind for others. The LED bar was very cool the first day that I got it, but now I forget about it since I keep it off all the time. Still very cool though. Overall, I was looking for a laptop that would be able to run games super smoothly, and this laptop was exactly what I was looking for (amazing graphics card, good cooling). It has amazing specs for the price -- most comparable laptops I was looking at were around $3000. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a powerful laptop.

And it still runs beautifully! It handles most games wonderfully. I was a console gamer curious about PC gaming and this laptop converted me. I only ever had one issue and it wasn’t even a hardware issue (driver update problem) but other than that I love this laptop.

This laptop crushes any game you throw at it at 1080p. I can definitely get over 100fps on any game at high/very high settings. If you care more about graphics though this has averaged out to about 80+ fps with every single setting maxed out (including SSAA x4, Global illumination, and MSAA). I also do some 4k gaming on it and i can get a consistent 60fps and sometimes even more on games like Rage 2, Witcher 3, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Ghost Recon Wildlands, Assassin’s creed Odyssey. The thermals are great, It has never reached above 70C for both CPU and GPU (while using cooler boost and the overclocking feature at the dragon center) even though I average 4-5 hours per session at 4k. The per key rgb and mystic light are also very easily customizable which is a plus, takes like 5 minutes to become an expert.

This is one powerful laptop. I have owned numerous laptops over my lifetime and I have had 4 different laptops in the last six months. Finally, I realized to get the all purpose laptop for gaming, teaching, and for my full time job, this laptop does it all. I got the model with a 1 TB SSD, 32GB of RAM, and a 240 refresh screen. This is the best gaming laptop that I have experienced, it works great for video editing, and it is very fast for everyday functions. When I use the laptop for every day tasks such as web browsing, Microsoft Office, or watching Youtube, it is flawless. I highly reccomend this laptop. MSI you have a customer for life.

Loving this laptop. As an avid gamer I am always looking for something with the best specs for the best price. When my old laptop bit the dust I went looking for something better. I ended up purchasing this one as Best Buy was out of stock on most of the others that I was interested in. I hadn't heard much about MSI but took the chance anyway since the reviews were so good. I'm glad I did! The screen is beautiful and I was surprised at how many options the keyboard lighting had. It's fast, smooth and so far my games look better than before. Very happy with my purchase!

    The one-all be all... Finally!

I have been in the computer world for around 5 years fixing, replacing, selling, and searching. I think the search is finally over. At this price point (2339.69 inclu. tax 2199.99 base). One would think that any computer would work. So why? For me there were 5 reasons. I have gone through Alienware, Mac, Surface, Lenovo, and HP and I have found that each one of them had all the pieces of what I wanted, but only the GE66 has them in the right combination. I will share what I have learned: R1) Screens are Important! Mac showed me the potential of a well-designed screen. This GE66 meets or exceeds Mac in this area. My GE66 Has the 1920x1080p resolution display with a 240Hz refresh rate. The resolution SPEC may not impress some in a world where 4-8k screens are popular, but the REALITY is that a well executed display does wonders for the eyes : - You can easily read text when quickly scrolling - Small text/details is/are easily readable. Almost like anti-aliasing is on, but without any blur. This allows you to fit more on the screen -reading at any angle is easy (good for showing friends your games or for using the laptop when there is glare. - matte screen is still easily readable in direct sunlight -low screen blur in general. R2) Specs. The devil is in the details... (GPU looking at you!) -10th gen Intel Core i7 with 6 physical cores, 12 logical from hyperthreading. 2.6Ghz base clock but it changes quickly up to a max of 5Ghz (it almost never goes above 3.5GHz for normal programs/uses) It also has its own integrated graphics. -32gb DDR4 RAM (BEEF!) -1TB NVMe SSD (2 Slots) -240Hz Display @ 1920x1080 resolution - NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER GPU with 8Gb of its own GDDR6 Memory. This is important. But not for the reason you think. The 2070 SUPER can actually outperform the 2080 in laptops because the 2070 does not have the limitations that the 2080 Max-Q does. A friend of mine constantly has issues when his new Alienware M17 has to throttle itself to deal with the 2080's heat. The power draw is not alot different (2070 draws 215W while the unrestrained 2080 would draw 250W. The difference is Stat-wise between their power and performance is not huge, but these are laptops, in the (almost) same space that 35 extra Watts equivalent in heat production can negate any benefit in performance. Which brings me to my next reason... R3) Cooling. The GE 66 has vents all over the bottom to bring in air and feet tall enough so sitting on your LAP does not suffocate the device. More obvious vents on the side expel the heat. The CPU and GPU do not share many heat pipes so extra heat on one side does not throttle the other (Lenovo and Alienware did this very often to me) The drawback is that one fan works a bit harder than the other, but the heat pipes and fans seem to be designed well enough that a minute or two of spinning does a lot of winning (not sorry!). The fans are loud in a detailed game like Monster-Hunter World, but I would rather wear headphones and have a computer do what it needs to do to stay with me for a long time. (The built in sound is ok by the way, nothing crazy, but for the space they have its not bad. The base drops out @ ~200hz) R4) Keyboard. Physically: I like the short travel distance and the low noise of the keys. The backspace key can feel a bit "mushy" when pressed on the bottom-left side of it, which I do often because it is the closest point to the rest of the keys. I otherwise like the placement of the page navigation keys R5) Charm and Build quality. Build quality is solid. Aluminum body, no flex. Screen does not flex and can be operated single-handedly. I absolutely love the placement and functionality of the function (FN) key. When pressed, it darkens all keys except the ones usable in conjunction with it. These keys are then highlighted in red. The Lightbar-keyboard lighting has a certain hypnotizing quality to it. It is almost like sentient liquid light is flowing underneath the keyboard. It is almost like it is happy to be used (cheesy I know). When the key lights are turned off, the "personality" stays in the lightbar, but the white rune-like font on the keys feel crisp, clean, cool, and professional. In summary: For me the MSI-GE66 Truly befits a user of a Dragon's tool. It deserves the regal insignia it bears. It is ready to go for anything, anytime, anywhere.

This laptop packs a lot of power and I am able to play triple A games on it with little to no graphics downgrades or lag. The sleek design comes at the slight drawback of loud fans, but they do their job. I also like how I can boost the fans on command. The light display in the keyboard is a really nice touch, though I am still figuring out how to customize it. Overall I'm really satisfied with the purchase.
