When I brought this laptop home, my wife balked at it when she saw the pulsing colors emanating from the mystic light with panoramic aurora, saying I needed something that looked a little more mature. So I immediately went and checked out a couple other more professional looking laptops: the ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 and the Razer Blade 15 with 4K OLED diplay. The Zephyrus was cute and quiet - sadly, even with the Ryzen 4900HS CPU, it could not compete with the MSI GE66 Raider. The GPU of the Zephyrus could not compete at all with the Raider's GPU - the difference was most notable when using a 4K display. There's no question that the Razer Blade's 4K OLED display is beautiful. However, I have sensitive ears, so the noise level generated by a laptop is CRITICALLY important to me. Unfortunately, the Razer Blade fan literally makes a noise that induces ringing in my ears (aka tinnitus). The Raider, on the other hand, actually has a feature to make the fan nearly completely silent. Noise level aside, the Raider also won out when it came to GPU performance once again. The 240 Hz refresh rate of the Raider looks very crisp. The machine runs quietly. However, you can overclock the CPU and GPU - and manually enable some super powerful extra fans to ensure it doesn't overheat if you want to push it to the limit! The keyboard layout of this laptop beats out the layout of every other laptop I've used - including the Macbook. That's right - there are page up/page down/home/end keys :) Finally, while I tried to convince myself that another laptop would work, I actually returned to my wife's objection around the "gimmicky" lighting as a compelling reason to use this laptop: it's just fun. (And if you're not a fan of the lights you can always disable them.)

This is an excellent gaming laptop with a lot of power, yet very manageable thermals and fan volume. High quality build, good looking display with high refresh rate, super fast performance in general. Given the power it packs and the great thermals, this notebook is surprisingly thin and light. Very slick and visually appealing design. Would definitely recommend this laptop for some serious gaming power. Only thing I can complain about is two individual but rather small areas at the very bottom edge of the screen that have some back-light bleed, but they are only ever noticeable against a black background and it's something that I can certainly live with.

Initially purchased to take during work travel so I can keep gaming but has turned into a gaming laptop for the kids until travel resumes. Pros: Fantastic graphics at highest settings and still provides great graphics even when needing to scale back. Plenty of memory to even allow for some non-gaming related work like a couple of VMs for work items. Eventually will add a second M2 drive to expand out from the 1TB of storage. Cons: Runs really hot after gaming for about an hour even with graphics scaled back some. I would highly recommend getting a lap pad that has fans built in to help control the temp a little more.

This is the first Windows laptop I've ever purchased. I'm generally a Mac user and that won't change for some things; however, I wanted a PC to use for gaming and this MSI fit the bill perfectly spec-wise. As a gamer Dad and professional I wanted something that wasn't just too purpose built to be flexible for other needs, and this laptop does not disappoint. I've only had it 3 days, but I've tried running a few games and this laptop doesn't break a sweat even at the highest game setting for Red Dead Redemption 2, Hunt & Borderlands 3. Needless to say it will run any work related apps without any issues. The display is beautiful on top of the performance, and the LED lighting is neat, though it really wasn't a major consideration. The only reason it isn't 5 stars is price. It's a decent value for what you get, but I can't help but think it could be priced a little lower. As long as the MSI reputation for build quality holds, I'll be happy. If your looking for a laptop in this price range, this one should be on your short list!

Not too much this thing can't overcome. Easy to set it up. Easy to customize the colors. Easy to use overall. Graphic power + SSD makes resource intensive games like Total War Warhammer 2 run like a hot knife through butter. On the hot note, it can run a bit warm, so I'd recommend a cooling pad - though that's beneficial too for ergonomic reasons anyway. Cooler Boost setting on the Dragon Center can help with higher run temps, but can be a bit noticeable if you're not running with headphones. I typically do for work/gaming so it's never a bother. MSI is a name in gaming laptops that doesn't disappoint and definitely did a great job with this one.

This computer is so powerful my wi-fi can't keep up! I downloaded League of Legends and it only took 20 minutes to fully download, INSANE. The colorful keyboard is an added plus because it gives the feeling that this laptop is a bang for its buck. I did a lot of research into gaming computers before picking the MSI Raider and ultimately for the price which is expensive you get great graphics and overall a great laptop that's not just for gaming. With other gaming laptops I've noticed that the price was too high for low graphics/design quality. I was looking for a laptop that exceeded my expectations and this MSI laptop did it!

This thing looks and feels amazing! Lightning fast with incredible features. Super happy with this purchase and highly recommend. Did a few benchmarks and game downloads since receiving and I'm blown away with how good the games look as well with how smooth they play. Also the lighting bar on the front is really cool. The videos I watched didnt do it justice for how good it looks in person. Overall solid machine with high end features and portability. I'd recommend to anyone looking for a gaming laptop.

Amazing performance for the price. Absolutely blown away by the performance and battery life. Nothing like having a future proof graphics card in a portable package.

I am making this purchase about 6 months after buying my last gaming laptop from a different brand. I am already blown away by the speed and power that this one is carrying. Generally I am against a lot of the pre-loaded "tools" but after diving into these I feel like I have the customizations exactly how I want them. It is much quieter than expected after looking over other reviews. My only slight disappointment is that I was expecting a little more from the speakers, although I will generally have headphones on anyway so its not all bad. Very happy with this purchase and hopeful for a longer term investment.

I've tried out several laptops before settling on this one. You can't beat the price point for what you get. It runs cool, has great graphics, and has great specs. MSI Didn't go cheap on the hardware either. The specs on Best Buys website here says the memory is 2666 but to my surprise, it's actually the 2933. This thing is blazing fast, highly recommend. This is coming from someone who returned a Razer Blade Pro 17 for this laptop. Definitely worth the exchange!

This laptop is a beast! I just purchased for my masters of architecture which it's a requirement to have a good laptop in order to run all those programs. I'm amazed of how fast this MSI can be and how amazing the graphics are. The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER it's all what an architect will dream about. Excellent product, beautiful design and amazing graphics. MSI always among the bests!!

Got this for my wife about a month ago for her birthday. The laptop is an all around solid build and is a good desktop gaming replacement for those that like the ability to easily take their gaming experience on the road. I really like the Dragon software interface that comes with MSI. Allows you to customize your settings and also put your battery into a mode that will allow it to last much longer. For gaming this laptop is used for World of Warcraft and can run that at max settings without a hiccup. Overall you get what you pay for, and this laptop delivers.

I love this computer, but honestly, it is quite flawed in a few areas, This computer has the worst battery life that I have ever experienced with a new laptop. I can have the computer on with only a web browser open, and the battery life is 30-45 minutes. I don't have that many programs on the computer either. I have adjusted several settings, and it still has poor performance. Also, the fan kicks on quite frequently, and it is very loud. The computer gets hot, even at the simplest task. The speakers aren't that great either. Besides those things, I do like this computer. However, those things are quite major issues that I deem unacceptable.

This machine is sick and in a good way. I can crank the graphics settings to max on all of my games and have zero tearing, crystal clear graphics and FPS through the roof. Honestly I have been a huge fan of MSI products since I got my first one 2 years ago and before you say well if your other one was only two years old why get a new one? Well to be honest I felt like taking a larger step up in RAM and Storage Capacity. My old one still works just fine for almost anything I need or want to run on it so now I have a backup.

This laptop is not really given justice due to the photos or the stock pictures best buy has. This is a genuinely gorgeous piece of art that has the capability of keeping you gaming for long periods of time. The power and speed behind this machine is incredible. being able to keep up with high graphics and keep it running at 120 fps is no easy task yet the sleek lightweight machine keeps it running. the only issue with the laptop that I have is that its power bank is a bit on the bulky side but the laptop in itself is without flaw

The laptop this MSI replaces was over 10 years old; its long life granted by regular upgrades and general good care. I intend to do the same with this MSI and I have no doubts it will be up for the task. I don't do tons of gaming, but still wanted a heavy-duty design and top-of-the-line specs toward this end. I expected the normal little new-computer bugs here and there, but so far (almost 2 months) there have been ZERO issues with this MSI. Runs fast and smooth as a top and cool as ice. Super impressed.

i really ;like this gaming laptop every complained bout the how loud the fan is i dont mind plus i run the system balance and still get the performace i need with the laptop plugged in ... but the .downside to gaming laptop NO ONE MENTIONS that you ONLY get the desired performace ONLY when its PLUG IN run any intense games like call of duty cold war or warzone and you see what i mean you can only achieve over 60 fps when its plugged in and on battery power you wont make it over 30 fps and the game is very choppy at this frame rate even i would have given it 5 outta 5 if i could have gotta the same results on just the battery life even if it only lasted 2 -3 hours or less
