Somewhat lacking.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This laptop runs well enough, but except for the upgrade in the SSD and video card, is actually worse than the laptop that its replacing. The older laptop has a 10 key and more ports for plugging things in. Another problem is that the battery is so small that the included instructions say to plug the laptop into an electrical outlet when gaming. That left me questioning why its called a gaming laptop at all. Also, at the time of purchase, Best Buy had said it would install Linux for me. Days after I bought this laptop, Best Buy said it wouldn't install Linux. So I had to go elsewhere and have Linux installed. So I'm disappointed in this purchase.

Heat sink.
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Boots up fast and open apps and internet very quick. Gaming runs fast but the heat developed almost burns to touch the cooling vents. Heat problem like all laptops but seems worse even with cooling pad.

Solid laptop, solid price
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Solid laptop - got it on sale from Best Buy, and so far so good! Solid graphics and fast speed. Lots of inputs, so easily added to an external monitor. Trackpad is surprisingly large. Screen is really nice.

Great Laptop
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Laptop is great. No heat issues and no hardware/software issues. The only reason I moved on to a different MSI laptop is because I dropped mine and the damage was more than the Laptop.

Awesome gaming machine
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very happy with the performance of this laptop! Easily handles any game I want to play at high settings. I was surprised how quiet this laptop is considering how the thinner gaming laptops tend to be quite loud- instead of a bunch of whining fan noises it’s more of just a moving air type of sound. Screen is nice and bright and colors look great. My only complaint is that the CPU temps get quite hot, but that’s pretty typical of thin gaming laptops. I just adjusted the boost speeds down which helped, and it didn’t impact gaming performance in a noticeable way. Would definitely recommend this beast to anyone wanting a powerful machine that is portable.

1st Gaming Laptop & No Regrets
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Buying this laptop was the first time that I had spent so much on a computer, and just bought a laptop geared towards gaming in general. I do have to say that it was completely worth it. No matter what game I try to play, or whatever else I need to do on this laptop, it can handle it with no problem. The graphics on the games are always great too. I also really enjoy the backlight on the keyboard and how much I am able to customize it. The only issue that I have had with this laptop is getting a 3.5mm jack headset to work with this laptop. It always seem to take a bit of fiddling to get it to work. It may just be user error though.

Very Enjoyable Gaming Laptop
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been thoroughly enjoying this laptop thus far. It runs games with ease, blows through every day tasks, & is comfortable for long sessions. Here are some highlights related to the laptop: Pros: -The screen is beautiful. It is a 1080p display, but the IPS panel does an excellent job with making colors pop. The 240hz refresh rate is enjoyable compared to 144hz displays. -The GPU/CPU combo on the laptop that I purchased blows through everything I ask it to do. It can run the majority of games at ULTRA settings and certainly on HIGH. You can expect anywhere from 60-300fps on most AAA games. -Interface is friendly & dragon center helps you hone your machine to what you are trying to get at/do. -RGB individual lighting is a plus. -Design of the machine is very slick. Could easily be brought into a professional setting. -I thought the price was fair for this laptop at the time of purchase considering the 11th gen CPU, RTX GPU, & 1TB SSD. Cons: -The keyboard is a bit "mushy". It is not the kind of keyboard that you would want to write an essay on. You are probably not looking at this computer if that is your planned usage, however. -This computer runs hot, very hot. You will need to tune the set-up of the laptop to get the CPU temps where you feel comfortable. Thankfully, there are fan settings to help mitigate the high temps. Do not attempt to play this laptop on your lap or any surface that is not a table/cooling pad. -The speakers are not at all what they are cracked up to be. Use gaming headphones unless you don't mind having the volume at 100. -This thing is a fingerprint magnet. Conclusion: I have owned multiple gaming laptops through the years and this one is up there. It may have some downsides, but most/all machines do. Overall, it is a enjoyable experience using this laptop & it's processing power is fantastic. You can squeeze every bit of juice out of the 3060 & 11800H through proper optimization. You are going to have a great time with it.

A stunner, not in looks but in execution
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This machine is pleasantly surprising in every way. The first thing that comes to mind when I think of this device is the way that it exudes quality. I love the "stealth" aesthetic, first of all, and while I have to admit that this thing IS a fingerprint magnet, there's just something really slick about this device's no-nonsense look. It's also built like a tank, and is one of most solid-feeling laptops I think I have ever laid my hands on. This thing, also, for a gaming laptop, has INCREDIBLE battery life when you set it to "super battery" mode. When using it as a "normal" work laptop, I have been able to squeeze a solid 10-ish hours out of it, which is far more than I would have ever expected seeing as my old Lenovo Legion couldn't even make 4 hours with all of the battery saving features engaged, and even the supposedly power-efficient Surface Pros I'd used in the past could just barely squeak past 7 or 8. This device just seems to truly give you power when you want it (plugged in of course), and longevity when it's needed. And power it can provide. Nothing current I have tried out of my libraries on either Xbox Gamepass, Epic Game Store, or Steam ran the least bit sluggishly on anything less than high settings, and most everything ran just silky with Ultra presets on. The screen is also immaculate and nicely warm and color accurate. There is a slight bit of IPS glow in the lower corners in my model, but that's pretty much par for the course, and there is no annoying clouding or edge bleed. Your mileage may vary, but based on screens I've owned in the past from devices made by Dell and HP, this is absolutely nothing. That said, overall quality control is just top notch and I could not be happier with this to replace my last gaming computer. This computer has plenty of I/O and the only thing that it is truly lacking is an SD card reader, which is a mild bummer but I have a dongle anyway that I pretty much always carry with me in my bag if I need to add some files from a card, which in the grand scheme is RARE for me since I use cloud storage for pretty much everything these days. I highly recommend this computer to the gamer who always wants to use this for work, especially creative work, and just wants one PC to get everything done and without the need to make a spectacle of yourself.

Great Gaming Laptop, good value
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First gaming computer for our family and WOW. The graphics are great, the sound is good. The processing speed is very fast. Playing a game like No Man's Sky, unplugged. Played for a while and then the game started to lag. It was a low battery issue. Plugged it in and instantly, the frame rates were back to normal. Only issue I have had is the Blu tooth icon. It sometimes disappears and the only fix to get it back is reboot the laptop. I use a blue tooth key board and mouse, which may or may not connect. Great deal from Best Buy on this product. It has been helpful with video playing as well as gaming.

Awesome Laptop
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This laptop is solid. Performs better than a MacBook pro issued by my employer. Runs much cooler, has a variable speed fan that's fantastic. Also performs functions faster when working within multiple applications at the same time. While I am not a gamer, I day trade stocks and am a software engineer and this is the best laptop I've used by far. The only knock I would give this is that the battery life is very small compared to other laptops in this price range; but I'm OK with that given the performance is much better than laptops I've used twice this price.

Waiting to report on performance
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I decided it was an okay time to report on this purchase since this computer just now survived its first crash (whole image freeze before audio and system crash; some error having to do with video). I'm going with a four-star rating because I'm mostly happy so far, I just don't want to pretend everything is perfect. This is my first MSI laptop after a succession of ASUS machines. While this computer comes with preinstalled things, they are mostly useful and not really bloatware like ASUS crams into theirs. (It also comes with Norton--deleted that garbage quick.) Previously I had an ASUS 2-in-1 that failed part-by-part. I decided to go with a gaming laptop because my work is InDesign-intensive and I like to do some light gaming in my free time (Civ, Skyrim, PowerWash Sim mostly). I found some helpful Reddit threads on the exact settings to use to reduce fan noise, or reduce heat while gaming, etc. but have yet to implement them. I am mostly happy with how the computer runs games without any settings changes so far. InDesign acts a little strangely. Many parts of the image "stick" in place while scrolling--scrolling elsewhere or zooming in/out unsticks it but it does happen constantly. I'm going to look into fixes. I'll note that I'm going to come back and comment on this review if I ever get the chance and, if you're reading this, it would help if you did so after your own purchase, too. While shopping for this laptop, it felt hard to make progress without knowing how the computer would function after the first month--say 3, 6, 9 months down the road (a year, if at all possible, though I know tech moves out fast). Reddit does help with this a bit but I wanted to encourage others to keep it in mind. Other than these few image glitches I have been happy. Note that the audio jack is very "sticky"--once you plug in your headphones/speaker it, it may be hard to yank out. The screen has been a trade-off for me: I'm happy with the blue-light filter setting on this machine because I feel like I'm saving my eyes. On the other hand, I gave up touchscreen capability and I do miss it at times. Here's hoping that my image issues work out and I don't regret giving 4 stars. Again, I'll try to remember to report back later.
