Coming from a previous Macbook and MSI notebook owner, the stealth combines the best of both! My last MSI was a 2014 Ghost- 6 years old and still going strong but had a broken case, and my last 2010 Macbook had a solid case with less-than-powerful hardware. I was torn between ASUS's Zephyrus line and the Razer Blade before finally pulling the trigger on this one. I got this for 2D/3D art, game development and design so I haven't tested gaming on it yet, and my review will be geared towards design. Pros: + It's all metal, murdered out, completely 'Stealth' in look. Probably the most professional 'gaming' laptop I've seen. The only plastic parts seem to be the bezel and a small strip running the front. There's minimal creaking when pressed, a bit thinner aluminum than the Macbook but still solid. The touchpad is really nice, just outclassed by the Macbook imo. + It actually does stay relatively cool and quiet while sculpting at high polycounts, texture painting, and painting on 4k+ canvases. This was something I was worried about after seeing and reading reviews. Again, not sure how it preforms gaming. + The screen is snappy and color rich- for a TN panel. I almost went with the Razer Blade and it's better panel options, but the Stealth's screen has been a dream to draw and model on. If you're going to be making printed work or color sensitive designs, I'd definitely go for something with a higher color accuracy. + Long battery life. With the right settings you can squeeze out 6 ish hours and if you can find a USB-C charger with high enough output, you can leave the huge brick at home. +The keyboard lighting is just awesome, the keyboard itself isn't bad either. Moderately 'clicky'. Very large keys compared to my Ghost. Cons: - My touchpad seems a little sensitive even on lowest sensitivity. I'm not sure if that's a defect on my model specifically or if they are all like this - Not a full keyboard. I knew this going in, and it seems to be a 'con' of all laptops this size in 2020. - The speakers are kind of bad, but the MSI Apache's are worse. All in all, I'm really happy with this laptop for my uses and recommend it to anyone who wants a 'slim and light' laptop that packs lots of power and doesn't 'look gamery', though the Razer Blade and Zephyrus-es (which I was torn between for a while) would be equally great machines.

Overall I am very satisfied with this purchase. I have only had it for a short time, but it meets and exceeds what I was expecting at this price point. I believe it is a good fit for anyone looking for quality casual gaming as well as the professional that is looking for a little more power than your typical ultra book. Key Points: 1) The quality of the build is amazing compared to other laptops that I was considering purchasing. The brushed aluminum is tasteful and sleek, but I would recommend keeping a cloth around for finger print smudges. 2) The performance exceeds my expectations and provides all of the power I need for entertainment and for projects thanks to the 2070 Max-Q. 3) I really appreciate how professional and discreet the laptop is because I do not like the look of most gaming laptops (TOO MUCH RGB). I typically take my personal laptop with me to work and public spaces, so it is nice to have something that does not draw too much attention, but I can always light up the keyboard whenever I want to feel spicy,

I have been impressed with this beast ever since opening the box. The design is subtle. With the keyboard RGB, which is stunning turned off no one could guess the beast that's inside it's shell. Originally I was choosing between this and a Razer but chose this as for a similarly spec'd machine this one is ~$200-300 cheaper. For productivity/work it stays quiet living up to it's name. The keyboard is responsive, spread out and very easy to get used to. My previous laptop was a thinkpad and although this keyboard feels lighter on the keys it still does not disappoint in terms of responsiveness. Laptop camera works great and everything looks so good on this screen. Trackpad is nice and spread out, though right-clicking on such a large pad is something to get used to. It's fine for casual things and working, but any games that require dexterity will benefit from a mouse. When gaming though it does get loud. Like really loud. But that's the price to pay to keep everything under the hood cool. The speakers aren't great especially with the fans blowing so you will want to use headphones for gaming. Granted as I don't really know any laptop with great speakers this is less of a dig on MSI and more of the market at large. Even with some of the minor points mentioned above, I would recommend this for anyone that wants an all-in-one device, looking for the sleekness of a mac, but better components, and the power of a Razer Blade but much cheaper.

This is the second MSI laptop I've used. Both have bene greta gaming machines if you're willing to pay for their capabilities. This machine is lightweight and very powerful. I was impressed by the bump in speed I got for basic tasks and I've been able to run every game I've tried at high settings without issue. The primary downside of the laptop is that it gets warm and the fan can be loud when it's trying to compensate. Still, that's a minor issue for an otherwise great machine.

This is my first gaming laptop. I had previously had a 2010 Macbook pro that was starting to die, so I was looking to upgrade to a Gaming Laptop. Pros: Build is very sturdy Display is very good 1TB SSD Lots of ports. Everything runs smoothly Easy to set up and get going immediately. Played a few older games that run extremely well on high settings with no slowdowns: Subnautica, Halo MCC, Just Cause 3 Cons: Fan be a bit loud. Adjust in settings. All in all, a really good buy.

This laptop his what I expected it to be. With the hardware that is in this laptop you will not be disappointed. PROS: I like the options for colors for the keyboard, MSI does a great job with drivers and fastest internet possible, there's 3 USB ports and to type c ports and 240hz screen is phenomenal. CONS: fans can be very loud turned up you do have the option to keep him lower end of experience no issues with temperature on lower setting. There should be at least 4 USB ports Speaker audio is trash and overpowering it vibrates the metal frame of the laptop. PC is subtle and black doesn't have full outside appearance of a gaming laptop. Integrated webcam is only 720P

Best Slim i7/RTX2070 Gaming Laptop Available Today

After researching multiple slim gaming laptops with the main requirements being a 10th gen i7 and RTX2070 inside, the top four candidates were: Razer Blade 15 Base, Lenovo Legion 7, ROG Zephyrus 15, and the MSI GS66 Stealth. I really wanted to like the ROG and even more the Lenovo, but the Razer and the MSI were the most slim plus best built. Both the Razer and the MSI had a sleek black look. But ultimately, the MSI is better bang for the buck. The MSI has a 240Hz screen compared to Razer's 144Hz screen. The MSI has the better feeling steel series keyboard with longer travel and individual rgb backlighting (the layout of the Razer kybd is better but the typing experience is way better on the MSI). The MSI has a IR webcam built in for Windows Hello and the Razer has a webcam but you cant use it for Hello. And the MSI has much better battery life with the biggest legal battery you can take on a plane. I know a lot of battery life comes down to GPU management, but if you know how to work your GPU right, you will get MUCH more life from the MSI. The fan speeds are naturally slightly quieter on the Razer, but the MSI ain't bad at all. Lastly and most importantly, the MSI is much much cheaper than the Razer, especially on sale. Customer support online for MSI isn't easy to navigate, but I'm not sure Razer's is that much easier or not. If MSI tweaks a few things on this current GS66 to improve it even more for next year, I don't know how anyone else beats it.

More than anything the screen has taken me by surprise. The responsiveness and quality is unlike any other laptop I've ever used or even seen in person. The performance is great, the laptop does get a little hot but with max fan speed its not bad. The fans do get a bit loud, but with my noise cancelling headset I don't notice anything. Overall, great buy. Very satisfied.

I looked for a computer to use for both gaming and work. Among many other similar spec laptops, I picked the MSI GS66. My main interest was heat control and screen quality since I assumed that similar CPU spec and GPU would perform pretty similar performance. So far, I played couple of popular games and I am very happy with its temperature control. I had chance to use the last year model GS65 and this GS66 is way better than its predecessor. The heat on the keyboard and palm rest areas are very satisfactory. The screen is clear and very responsive. All the games I'm playing are really smooth. The keyboard is very good and easy to use. The speaker sound quality is good but I hope that it could be more vibrant even though I mostly use headset for gaming and work. The surface of the computer is nice black metallic touch, which looks very good and stylish. Only minor thing is that it is prone to get fingerprints. But it really doesn't bother me at all. I like the new black skin both in and out comparing to the last year's gold edge. It gives more stealth looking. I haven't got a chance to use this without power supplier. But I heard that it has one of the biggest battery among its competitors. So, overall this computer is very good and well built. I'm very happy with my purchase.

Overall a great laptop. I'm a casual gamer these days, but it boots up and plays any game I've thrown at it so far including the newest COD games, PUBG, and all sorts of Blizzard gamas as well as Rainbow 6 Seige. Get a cooling pad and be in a cooler room because this thing does get pretty hot. Sometimes to the point where I felt like I needed to shut off the game and quit playing after an hour or two. I've ordered a cooling pad and am still waiting for that as well. I am getting 130+ FPS easily and often much more. I haven't had any issues with the monitor or refresh rates. When I'm not gaming, the fans seems to kick on all too often and they make noise. The noise is noticeable, but they aren't screaming either. However, when I am on calls with others for my job, they notice the buzzing of the fans so now when I am not gaming, I turn the Gaming Mode: Off and Scenario: Silent. It is nice that you can change how the fans operate. I actually use this computer more for work and I'm in the field of Data Science so I require a decent processor and GPU for that. 16gb of ram is great, but will be upgrading to 32gb (still waiting for delivery). I like the simplistic approach to the design of the laptop. It looks professional and simple, yet you can tell it is top of the line.

Really solid build quality. It's a little noisy at max load but can't be noticed when gaming with a headset or decent volume levels. I was expecting this to be worse than my last laptop due to specs, but it not only matched it's performance, but is also giving me 4 hours of battery life and is much thinner and lighter. Really great for the price.

So I've been a bit of a gamer my whole life, but I've never once touched a gaming computer. I've always wanted to hop on the PC train but I've never really put much thought into it. But I realized I was gonna need to buy a new computer for college that would last me all 4 years. So I decided to kill 2 birds with one stone and get a gaming computer. I'm the kind of guy that will research for weeks to find just what I want and let me tell you this laptop is exactly what I wanted. I got it about 4 days ago and it's a dream come true. To start off the screen is amazing! 240hz is crazy smooth. I do have a monitor already but I might just use the laptop screen. Second the keyboard is pretty sweet. It feels really nice to type with and play on. And the RGB customization is crazy cool. Third it's crazy fast. I mean I had a 300$ HP laptop before so the speed difference is incredible. And fourth it's very discreet. I wanted this for college so I didnt want a giant glowing laptop. I wanted it to be for gaming but stealthy and well the gs-66 stealth is just that. I would highly recommend this laptop to anyone that's going to college and loves video games! It's just great over all!

I received the laptop in very nice packaging. I was torn between this and a Razer Blade 15 and after reading so many reviews and seeing how others decided on this laptop I decided to do the same. For $700 cheaper than the Razer this machine meets and exceeds most of the other specs that were offered elsewhere. The display while only being 1080P is beautiful. I tested some 4K youtube videos to see how well they looked and they blew me away. The speakers are great too. its always hard to find good speakers in a gaming laptop but MSI really did a great job here. Gaming on this is amazing as to be expected from the parts inside. The keyboard took no more than 2 minutes to get used to, and has been amazing ever since. using the laptop on my lap for an awhile is no problem either, it does get warm but not too hot for this type of machine. Overall the build quality is also amazing being pretty much all metal makes for a very sturdy machine. I am so happy that I went with this laptop and look forward to using it as my main driver going forward. I'll probably also get a docking station for it to eventually replace my desktop setup.

I have had this a little over 2 weeks. I am very happy with it so far. The good Great screen Fast Great keyboard Lots of ports Sturdy, well-built Graphics card/cpu does well with AAA titles The not so good Temps were high at first until I learned how to mitigate them Let me stress this is a gaming laptop. I've seen people complain about temperatures and fans when they were just surfing the web. If you are looking to just surf the web and check e-mail this is overkill. It can run hot/be loud under load, but so can any gaming laptop in this small a form. I learned a great deal about configuring this machine from reddit and once configured properly it is quiet and cool with everday tasks. The fans are a bit louder when gaming. I play mostly Iceborne on full settings and get 90-130 fps. Temps stay somewhere in the 70c-75c range. Fans spin at about 4000-4500 rpm. When surfing the web the temps stay about 49c with one fan spinning at 2500. If you want a great gaming machine and don't mind researching a bit to configure it optimally, this is definitely the one.

This is my 2nd MSI laptop. I upgraded from an 8 year old MSI . I researched all of the laptops that Best Buy had to offer and I think GS66 was by far the better bargain as well as bang for buck. The battery life is amazing. I’m able to get 7-10hr on light use with brightness set at 50, about 4-5hr doing light gaming. The video is fantastic. I play Doom, Wolfenstein, Far Cry and other similar games. The brightness, blacks and clarity are superb. MSI Dragon Center is great for monitoring the system vitals and adjust things to my preferences. The fans aren’t at all even under demand. The only issue is since the fans pull from the bottom, when you actually put the laptop in your lap it can get warm. I easily solved the issue by using a laptop cooling fan pad. The Face ID logon is very quick. The camera could be better but I rarely use it so a non-issue for me. The keyboard is spectacular and allows for Per key customization. I love the steel series presets. I set the keyboard up as an American flag.

The GS66 exceeded my expectations on first impression. This is an extremely slick device with a very premium build quality and feel. I wouldn't say the laptop is "light" - but it's certainly very portable and feels solid. Many reviews will talk about the fans and heat and while the device does get warm during gaming sessions, and the fans can get load, I honestly don't think the fans are any different than other laptops. Gaming performance is solid and the screen is an absolute pleasure to game on. I've been enjoying numerous strategy titles like XCOM, Gears Tactics, and Cities Skylines. But fast paced games like PSO2 and Destiny 2 are equally as impressive. Overall I feel this model is the best value out there because of the 2070 Max Q and 1GB of storage.

Originally I was searching for a laptop that offered a lot of power to handle things such as running servers, virtualization, programming projects, as well as gaming -- while maintaining a "stealthy" non-bulky look like. It was also important that the laptop I picked offered the ability to expand and be upgradable. This laptop offers everything I desired right out the gate. The memory can be expanded from 16GB to 64GB, offers additional M.2 SSD storage slots for expansion, and comes boasting a wonderful Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070. The display is buttery smooth in every-day tasks as well as gaming. The battery life is fabulous and charges rather quickly too! Having a back-lit keyboard that you can customize is fantastic as well! It's always an eye catcher out in public. The fans stay quite while under load as well. If you're looking for a stealth laptop that offers the potential for upgrades in the future, this is it!

Appearance: It's perfect. At the same price, you can never find a second computer with such a thin mold and a business style, at the same time it also has a 180 ° openable body. I have also considered Razer, but it’s obviously not the best cost-effective option. Performance: Before I bought the gs66, I used a Desktop with i5-8600k and RX580. By comparison, the 10th Gen i7 with 6 cores and 12 threads is much better than the i5-8600k, although everyone is saying "AMD Yes", you know Intel is what gamers need most. 2070maxq is enough for me to play Rainbow 6 siege at 200fps and csgo at 300fps. It’s awesome to match this 240hz screen, it’s awesome to compatible with this 240hz screen Battery: 99.9Whr, the same as the battery installed on the latest MacBook Pro 16', obviously there is no way to achieve the same battery life as the MacBook, but after I set the minimum power consumption (including the screen refresh rate changed to 60fps, automatic brightness, energy saving mode and Hybrid graphics card), Windows system shows battery life can reach more than 7 hours, I think it should be no problem to reach 6 hours in extreme energy saving mode. IR camera: Like most other laptops, it is also equipped with a 720p camera, but this IR camera supports Windows Hello, this is my first time using Windows Hello, I feel the experience is really great when I unlocked my screen.

This thing is a beast compared to what I had before. Sure you could spend a lot more for a ridiculous laptop, but this thing is awesome. I went from a 5 year old Gigabyte laptop to this and that thing had a battery almost explode on me (it expanded and popped the case open)! It seems to run relatively cool and even when I'm putting it up to new games on high/ultra it still runs well and there's just a hum. I no longer have what sounds like a jet engine next to me and it's great. It is light and super solid as well. The only downside so far is I don't have any USB C devices yet so I'm down a usable USB port and can't plug in the pass through for my keyboard so I can use the XBOX dongle for a controller. I highly recommend this laptop and any other in the Stealth line if you want performance with some amazing aesthetics and comfort knowing it's probably not going to melt through your desk.

I just picked up this laptop today and the reviews I read and watched were not lying. Immediately, I check out the sharp corners of the laptop, thickness, the loudness of the fans, and weight. I previously was using the GS 65 Stealth model with the copper accents. That laptop was a bit thinner but the fans sound the same so far. This laptop has more SSD but less system memory. I wish this was a 32gb but ill take what I can get. The sharp tips might be a little annoying but ill just put tape or something to cover it. I haven't played any games yet. Just been downloading programs and personalizing it. The keyboard layout is a little different that the GS 65 but it's still good. Every time I open and close the laptop, I hear a tick sound. Not sure of that is normal but it's there. All in all. So far so good. Typing feels great and you can't go wrong with the illumination.
