4.5 Stars. You can save good money buying this rig and still get top-flight performance. It is very capable to do pretty much anything you would like to throw at it, and is very optimized for gamers. It does like to run hot out of the box, so I would recommend going into your processor management settings and dialing it back at bit on the max to about 95 or 90%. Once I did that and adjusted the user profile in Dragon Center to the silent mode, this thing was running like an absolute champ. The screen is a complete winner. Very sharp and responsive. My only real quibble about this is the keyboard, and the only reason I couldn't give it a 5 star, which, being laid out for gamers, is not really conducive for productivity. The main thing being the FN/CTRL keys being shoehorned together on the right side of the board. Have had to do some key remapping to get it laid out for my needs, particularly for volume adjustment, which I reassigned to a couple of the F keys.

Msi has given me a new perspective in gaming laptops. It has challenged me to put more on a powerful gaming beast, yea beast I say. I absolutely love the concept of it. Surely imitates the Razer blade 15 but the steel series key board is out of this world pretty cool how everything is compacted in a solid powerful gaming laptop, the touch pad is pretty responsive and outstanding. The only thing I have to go against this is that it’s loud the fan acts like if I approached a plane slowly and it’s getting louder by the second. I get it though it’s slim powerful 99.9 wat battery but sooner or later Msi will make a fix on that and hand the people what they want a powerful, cooled, quiet, slim gaming laptop or notebook but over all superb.

I've been using this laptop for the past two years to edit video and general creative use along with some light gaming. Overall great performing and durable laptop that has done what I needed it to do. 4 stars because it has occasionally shutdown with heat issues when I don't manually turn fan speed up.

MSI GS66 is a great laptop for gamers and coders. Right from the start you can feel the quality of this product. To setup the laptop, a voice assistant takes you through all the steps. The dragon center is simple to use and the keyboard looks and feels magnificent. The fan does turn on for a while when you run some applications but its not as much to make you feel annoyed (you can run it in silent mode and the fan won't start that often). In performance mode, you can select the speed of fan to make it run cooler during gaming. I installed some developer applications and it is way faster than my old i7 laptop. I had narrowed down on Razer Blade 15 and MSI GS66 but finally decided to go with GS66 as with the same configuration its a couple of hundred dollars cheaper.

Ok, I'm a computer snob. I've build 3 and 4 thousand dollar custom PCs in the past and know what makes a good computer. I'm also am a general partner at a Private Capital Firm. This being said, I wanted a laptop that I could use at my desk at work while being able to take it home and game when I was done while retaining the ability to work at home as well. Is this the perfect computer, no. There are higher spec models. But as a total package this really cant be beat. The screen is butter smooth and is bright enough for indoor work. its input lag at 3ms is good for shooters and its almost indistinguishable from a 1ms gaming monitor. The processor is a Intel I7 which I know is not AMD, but in this form factor with access to a thunderbolt port, provides enough umph for gaming and any cpu intensive work such as advanced financial modeling. The GPU is where it really shines. The 2070 allows you to play most games in high to ultra while still getting 60 fps. It also is good for Da vinci resolve. I cant really leave a fair cvomment on the keyboard and track pad because I use this docked 90% of the time. But from my brief experiance the keyboard is of a high quality and the trackpad is nice and big. The battery is 99.9 watt hours so just at the legal limit for air travel. Also this laptop can be charged via its thunderbolt port at 100w so when on the road you can keep it topped of with a good quality power bank like the zendure super tank (Also a great buy) The whole is greater than the sum of its parts here. A sold buy 9/10

TONS OF RESEARCH AND THIS WAS CLEAR WINNER

First off, let me say that it is very difficult to overstate how much research I did before making this purchase. I listened to hours and hours of YouTube reviews from countless bloggers and tech review companies. I also read until I could not stand it anymore, trying to understand every pro and con of my top candidates. I had a list of roughly 10 laptops I was considering that got reduced to my 3 top considerations: 1) Razer Blade 15 (advanced and base model) 2) ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 3) MSI GS66 Stealth *Luckily, I was also able to view the first two in person at BestBuy as well. For the Razer, they are beautiful machines. But i did not like the way the keyboard felt and you simply get less for your money. I personally feel like they are overpriced. Also the advanced and base models have odd pairings of pros/cons that makes you feel like you are losing either way. The ASUS G14 was very underwhelming (even thought they have the AMD Ryzen 9 processor). I read way too many reviews about how the keyboard lighting was terrible (literally easier to see the keys without it). Also, for gaming, the freakin response time is 14-21 ms! That is absurdly high. What the heck was Asus thinking?? That one flaw is enough to turn away any gamer. I just don't get it. Just fyi, this MSI laptop has a response time of 3 ms. Now for this laptop. My new pride and joy. Is it perfect? No. But is it amazing? Absolutely. Pros - Lightening fast, excellent graphics, awesome FPS (running up to 190 fps on Overwatch with freaking wi-fi), beautiful keyboard rgb lighting, excellent overall build, great specs for your money, best aesthetics (even over the Razer that has the gaudy green snake logo). My wife loves that it looks nothing like a gaming computer but is still very sleek and clean. Cons - I honestly don't have anything about this laptop I do not like. If I had to be super picky, I wish the screen got a little brighter. But that is only because I game in a room that is super bright. In most situations that would never be an issue, and many times I actually turn DOWN the brightness. Other than that, the speakers suck. But isn't that the case with all laptop speakers? Who the heck buys a gaming laptop and intends to use the stock speakers instead of a headset (or at very least a pair of headphones)? I am in love with this device. I think it is the best value for this price range.

I know this is a gaming laptop but I bought it as an upgrade to my old asus for streaming and video editing. It has been a while since I've gotten a new laptop so a lot of the customizations are a bit overwhelming at first... but so far this laptop exceeds my expectations. With very little bloatware, plenty of room to expand and being built with high quality standards... i would say this laptop is a great choice for the price. Like other reviews it does get hot especially when streaming, editing, etc... but i bought the chill mat from targus to go with it and the laptoo fans rarely turn on. Which, you will know because they are rather loud. Overall I would Highly recommend this product to a friend!

Moved from an everyday Lenovo Edge to this MSI GS66 Stealth. I didn't want to do a knee jerk review just because it was shiny and new. I wanted to spend some time with it to get to know the pros and cons. Cons: keyboard layout takes a little getting used to especially if you're used to the wider number pad layout. the power brick is just that. a brick. it's a throwback to the old ones. each of these are negligible. Pros: sleek design, edges aren't as smooth as I'd prefer but it looks really good. love the spectrum colored backlit keyboard. speedy. copying things over from my previous laptop went really fast. Definitely tell the difference in the SSD. video quality is above par. gaming, streaming, personal videos, etc all look better on this display apps seem to run smoother, windows explorer searches go quicker although I did have a couple freezes on my huge libraries of pics and music Monitoring: it does get pretty hot running thru League of Legends. We'll see about other games.

If your looking for a great gaming laptop with good specs that wont break the bank this is the one for you. The screen has a great refresh rate, and the hard drive is large and solid state. The fan isn't terribly loud. I did a lot of research based off of the graphics card and the processor and this was the best choice. Many review websites had this laptop on their best choice list. Memory is sufficient but I plan on doubling it soon. I cant really thing of anything wrong with this laptop or its construction. Not too fat, not that heavy, and it seems sturdy. I defiantly recommend this machine if you are looking for a GeForce RTX 2070 GPU.

I have been impressed with this laptop made by MSI. It had just the right configuration for my tastes with a 1 TB SSD, RTX 2070 card, 16 GB of RAM and this beautiful 240 Hz display. The games I have played so far have been phenomenal. Control looks amazing in all of it's ray traced glory. And Destiny 2 looks and plays amazing. Everything just kind of works out of the box. The RGB keyboard is also a nice touch. The sound on the speakers is not great, but I wasn't expecting much from laptop speakers. I usually play on a headset. If you're looking for a great gaming laptop for under $2000, look no further than the MSI GS66!

I needed a step up from my toshiba satellite - something I could use Adobe Suite in and also be able to play games with better quality than previous laptop. A lot of power with too little space - which has been the biggest complaint I'd seen when researching this laptop. Because of it the fan *is* very loud/heavy and the laptop gets really hot, but only when I play games with heavier graphics - and with headphones on it's fine. Fan is basically silent when in multiple adobe programs. Only other thing is my U key is stuck to one side...? But it works/just a weird manufacturing flaw I guess. Otherwise an awesome laptop!

I did some research laptops for a couple of weeks prior to purchasing this and decided to just go for it. I went into bestbuy, the process was nice and quick and 30 minutes later was walking out of the store with this laptop. Overall great computer, the build quality feels high quality, the computer is very powerful. The only thing that should be noted is that the fans can be quite loud under heavy use, but that’s to be expected. Definitely would recommend purchasing this laptop!

I was personally looking for a good laptop that can handle gaming, web browsing and school. I'm currently going to school for engineering and I love how fast and clear the laptop is with Zoom and Canvas. I can wait to try it with my CAD program. As for gaming it run beautifully. I mostly play Smite and LOL but I can already tell other game titles will work fine. My last laptop would not even run them. All and all I believe this laptop is a good buy for the price. Its lightweight, fast, quite and has vibrant colors. I defiantly recommend this laptop

This laptop is a Beast, thin and fairly light. Fans are a little bit on the loud side but understandable, it pack a crap ton amount of power inside. The screen is a definitely MUST HAVE, it is fast, it fairly bright colors are good and man it is a whole different experience for me from my current 100Hz Predator X34 Monitor to this 240Hz laptop. but i would recommend you to save a little bit more and go for the higher spec model to push out enough frame rate to keep up with the fast screen RTX 2070 Max-Q just wont cut it in triple A titles

I have done intensive research looking for a new laptop; and I could not be happier with my device. Ultimately it's thin, not as heavy as other gaming laptops; but provides the perfect performance and power. Not only does it give solid performance due to the RTX2070 but it also has great fps due to it's screen. I've been using this keyboard for over 3 months now and I have not regretted by purchase; would recommend to others.

I've only had this laptop for a few days but so far I love it the display it's beautiful. I appreciate the different modes you can set the display too so it's even great for watching movies and stuff in my opinion. I will say that during gaming it does get a bit warm but that is to be expected from a laptop this thin. The fans do a good job of cooling it off though. The keyboard is also by far my favorite laptop keyboard I have ever typed on and the trackpad is awesome quality. So far everything runs super smooth I have no complaints honestly.

Looking to replace an old Lenova dual graphics laptop with something I hit on this one for best bang for the money. This Best Buy model with a one TB drive and 2070q is a good deal for price to performance ratio. It can run games and not flash gaming with blinging lights and color. To control noise and heat you can change fan curves, add a laptop cooler and web search GS66 for undervolting and repasting cpu cooler if you so desire. Both Dragon Center and SteelSeries softwares have worked well for me. I'm liking this GS66 a lot so far!

Let me start by saying that if you can afford the price tag on this laptop, get it. Plain and simple. This is my baseline recommendation right up front. If you are interested in why…stay tuned. Packaging: MSI did not skimp on the packaging for sure. The laptop was double wrapped in plastic with a screen wipe between the screen and the keyboard. The wrapped laptop was braced in plastic inside a sealed heavy duty box. This box was braced inside and outer box with the use of 6 pieces of Styrofoam. Also wedged in the outer box was a box which contained the power cord. The detailed packaging was superb, and lets the buyer know that the company didn’t shy on expenses for their new investment. Computer Appearance: The physical appearance isn’t really flashy, and that is perfectly fine for me. But there are a couple features that are really worth mentioning. 1. The keyboard keys respond smoothly and effortlessly. Another aspect of the keyboard is that the letters are really profound and visible. The oversized lettering is awesome especially when the keyboard is lit up. 2. The next big thing is the headphone jack. Most headphone jacks are plastic on the outer edge… this one here is metal reinforced. This adds an additional level of sturdiness to it. 3. And the “coolest” feature is the cooling function. The cooling function would rival that of a small car. Several ports along the back for intake and 7 ports split on the 2 sides for exhaust. For such a beefy fan setup it runs surprisingly quiet. Functionality: I’m not going to rehash the specs from the product description. I have only tested internet and 1 game (World of Warcraft). But before discussing those, a couple other functioning features. The keyboard, monitor and fan all have multiple settings with which the buyer and manipulate to their optimal setting. So for the biggest concern…How does it run? It’s incredible. Surfing the web was quick and easy. Pages didn’t need time to load. And the first time I played World of Warcraft on this, it was so smooth that it was weird initially. There was no lag or anything, even in areas with lag spikes occur frequently like raids and capital cities. Compared to my previous Dell G3, this MSI GS66 Stealth is a dream.
