||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This computer is an absolute dream of a machine. The design is awesome and the photos really do not justice. Here are some thoughts: Pros: Dual channel ram - 8gb x 2 for 16gb Great screen that is bright and stunning Keyboard feels solid and im a heavy typer Speakers are amazing - cant believe how loud it gets Feels sturdy for the most part - back panel and near mouse pad feel weak Cons: Fans are loud Does get very hot under load but so far nothing too concerning Bottom line: best laptop ive ever owned. Will play everything with ease.

Great All-In-One device!
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was looking for a device that could be powerful when needed, yet was relatively light, well-built, had good battery life, and understated design. The GS66 checks all those boxes off! It can play all games extremely well, feels premium, has a large battery that with tweaked settings can give all-day battery life, and doesn't look out of place in a meeting. It even has nice features like per-key RGB keyboard and Windows Hello login. Super easy to access RAM slots and add another SSD if you need more storage. Highly recommended!

Great gamin laptop
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my 2nd gaming laptop from MSI, I can say this is yet another great laptop from MSI, I like the per-key RGB gaming keyboard by SteelSeries and very satisfy with the build quality and performance even better than and quieter than my previous GS63VR which was also very powerful and slim, I usually play FPS games and it handles everything I throw at it very well, screen is also very bright and color accurate I'm loving the 240hz screen it is very fluent and beautiful. I like the easy of upgrading RAM and adding a second SSD.

Excellent value for Money
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.purchased this for my daughter who is an avid gamer and is heavily into video editing and creating animations. This laptop has handled everything that has been thrown at it. I have on occasion stolen it from her room to play games. It has handled ALL the Assasins creed series as well as the call of duty series. The one gripe is that it does get hot but that was expected so I purchased a fan-based cooler to go with it. The screen is fantastic however it can sometimes mess with some of the older games but easy workarounds.

Great gaming laptop for the price!
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this gaming laptop because I wanted something fast with premium build and design quality. So far it has exceeded my expectations in everything I was looking for in a gaming laptop. It’s super fast, has an amazing screen, and the build and design of the laptop is top-notch. I recommend this laptop to anyone looking for a gaming laptop with great specs, but they don’t want to spend over $2000 on a laptop.

I love it. Well made, powerful, & a great display.
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this to make the switch from Mac to PC (still have my 2013 Mac Mini chugging along) but I also wanted to make the switch from console to PC, and finally dive back into Windows. I feel this laptop is probably overkill, like buying a leader bike for commuting around town, but I'm very happy with the decision so far... with the caveat being that I'm confused as how to navigate and work the darn thing but that's where the fun comes in because there are a TON of features and neat things about this bad boy. The screen is gorgeous and has a killer refresh rate and is very adjustable, the keyboard's RGB is really cool and can be customized, the features and control you have access to is so intricate, and Dragon Center seems interesting, tho again, still learning how to do it all, and as a noob it seems like it needs instructions and tutorials on just how to operate it (this review is from such viewpoint, not a pro gamer's, or even a level 80 Windows wizard). The body is sleek and solid. It's a heavy laptop, but it seems very well built. No flex on the keyboard, super great touchpad, the speakers aren't anything to brag about, but using a headset is preferred anyways. It just feels nice, and quality. We'll see how well it holds up to the torments of a curious new user and the command prompt, and write a follow up review then because I'm havin a hard time initially finding anything but amazement with it rn. Overall it's a game changer. I'm sold.

Smooth as butter
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After tons of research and comparing all the major brands, reviews, performance specs, FPS for the various games like Minecraft, Fortnite, Call of Duty, etc. This one came out on top. Latest 10th gen i7 CPU, RTX 2070 Max-Q, Killer Networking, 240 Hz screen and a 1 TB Samsung M.2 SSD with room for a second M.2 SSD. This thing is fast and smooth playing all the above games whether on WiFi 6 or LAN cable. It is light in weight and looks very nice. I definitely recommend.

Great laptop for gaming and all around!
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have always played games with an old laptop I’ve had for 5 years, and decided it was time to invest in something better. This laptop is great, you get what you pay for. Fastest running laptop I’ve ever owned. I was skeptical about how loud the fan was prior to purchasing it, but it really isn’t that bad. If you like to game and do some work on the side, this is a great choice. Looks nice and has a solid build, but the only con is it leaves fingerprints pretty easily.

Incredible Gaming Computer for an Incredible Price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My husband and I were turned on to the MSI brand by a "techie" friend. We trust his judgement, but are long time razer brand and Apple users, so let's just say that we were a little more than skeptical about the performance of an unfamiliar brand. I can't overstate how happy these laptops have made us. I use mine for mostly streaming purposes, but also play games with my husband. The performance of these machines is awesome, and they are waaaaay more affordable than a brand new gaming tower. 10/10 would buy again!!!

Great Gaming Laptop
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I recently just got this laptop for both work and for gaming. Little did I know that this is the best laptop I have so far. This beast is incredibly fast and feels really durable. I love the screen since it is really smooth and really good for gaming. The only thing you have to watch out for is that this thing is a finger print magnet. Overall I am really satisfied with the MSI GS66. This is a really good gaming laptop for it's price.

Great laptop!
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have the GS65 which has served me well for the last few years. I decided to update and get the GS66. I can say its great laptop. I do a lot of photo editing in LR with very large files (350mb photos) and normally have a library open that has close to 100 files (all 52mbs or larger) and this laptop can handle it. LR is very CPU heavy and killed the CPU fan on my old GS65 as it ran WOT when ever I edit. This bad boy didn't break a sweat. I had upgraded the GS65 to 32g RAM. This one I upgraded to 64g RAM and added a second Samsung EVO 1T SSD to keep the photo files on its own drive. (has a free slot of it and the board is not inverted so its as simple as removing the bottom cover and installed the SSD or swapping out the RAM which is nice move by MSI to make upgrading this laptop much easier then in the past) During regular usage (IE writing this review or playing on FB/youtube) I cant hear the fans. During editing when I am working the system I can hear them but by temps stay under 75c so I wont complain. The Turbo Cool (or what ever its actually called) does get loud and you will feel the air moving but it does work to get temps down. The screen is awesome but calibrate it. I noticed after editing photos they had a yellow/orange tint to them on other computers (to include my calibrated editing/print proofing screen). Its a quick tweak for those that like super accurate colors. Overall the keyboard feels super smooth, the mouse pad is wide and responsive, and the new cooling design seems to really cut down on the noise while keeping everything cool. I haven't experienced the warm finger tips yet!

Best way to get raw performance
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The gs66 really is a great laptop. Ive had it for a month now, and not only is it good for gaming, but is great for any sort of work you may need to do. The slim, low profile design is a plus because you can truly use this in a boardroom without annoying your coworkers. Gaming wise, this laptop can play any new game around 140 fps on high/ultra settings, an in addition to the 240hrz display you truly will have a great gaming experience. I've played doom eternal, wolfenstein 1, batman Arkham knight, war thunder, and some others without any issue. The only problems I have with the laptop are, this laptop will get hot if you run a game for more than 20 minutes to the point where the keys start to become warm to the touch, and your lap starts to become uncomfortable. That's just a side effect of packing so much performance into a small enclosed area. So make sure you either get a lap pad or play on a table so the laptop has addiquit cooling and you dont burn your self. Just a side note in normal use this laptop doesn't get very hot only slightly warm. The other issue I have is that you can hear the wifi card during use and get annoying after a while. Though normally the fans drown it out because it's not very loud. Overall a very good purchase. 1800 dollars really isnt that bad for a laptop of this quality and spec. Side note - if your looking at a laptop for school I would get this, has better specs than most the laptops I've seen like the xps or the spectre x360 and it's about the same price as thoughs options.

Great design!
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After spending a lot of time looking for a gaming laptop that didn’t have that “gamer” look to it, I ordered the msi GS66. It has fantastic gaming performance and great battery life. The screen also looks amazing! I can’t think of anything wrong with this laptop which is great because I’m usually very picky about laptops. It was also a lot more affordable than other brands such as razer and yet has better specs!

Bad luck or just No Good!
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Let me first begin by saying, I've done my research on this specific MSI GS66 model throughly before I purchased it. I am not a novice consumer and I am actually VERY TECH SAVVY. I have my own custom PC at home that's very highly spec'ed. I needed a laptop to work remotely as well as game for fun. I thought this laptop was going to be a dream, but right out of box it became a nightmare. I just want to advise people before buying that this laptop is at best a 6/10. There were so MANY ERRORS and problems out of the box; audio jack problems, driver issues, 3-4 keyboard RGB lighting errors, bios problems...but most seriously...hardware malfunctions. Don't get me wrong, this laptop does not BSOD and runs very smoothly. I like the 240 hertz display and the keyboard/touch pad feel snappy, but for its pricetag of nearly $2000 dollars (after taxes), it should be way better (if not perfect) right out of box. This laptop is definitely a trial by fire build because they got so many things wrong. Maybe MSI was just testing things and weren't ready to release this model. It runs very hot even after putting it on its lowest settings. You can't even put it on your lap for basic usage sometimes. Isn't it supposed to be a "lap" top? Also, the fans scream and are very loud. You can tweak and lessen them but if your gaming, you will hear them a lot no matter what you do. I managed pretty good temps (45C-79C) but my ears paid the price. Build wise, it looks very cool and is slim but it isn't all glamore. The black finish is very polished so in doing so it is a finger print magnet and please understand that I am not joking. Also, despite it being an aluminum build, this laptop creaks like walking on old flooring and feels very flimsy most of the time. There is also a brittle front plastic piece that I can see someone breaking very easily if just bump against something. But worst of all, upon receiving this laptop the hinge mechanic was solid. But after about a month, the hinge started to losen. This was only after very light sessions and barely opening and closing it often. I take care of all my gadgets and tech and I could only imagine if it were in the wrong hands. How bad would it be after a year? Cleary the build quality doesn't have longevity. This was the main reason I returned this laptop. Ultimately, I would not recommend this laptop and it's sad because I had such high hopes. Who knows? Maybe it could have just been being unlucky and my model was defective. I fixed most of the problems myself but it took SKILL, RESEARCH, KNOWHOW, and a lot of PATIENCE. I understand that it is the "new" line for MSI but there were just WAY TO MANY FLAWS and to fix the prolonging ones I would have to open it up. That would void my warranty and so I held myself back. Luckily, Best Buy customer service understood the issue and allowed me to exchange it without any negative negotiations. Unfortunately, there were no matching GS66 in stock anymore so they allowed me to get an entirely different laptop for a cheaper price, the same price, or a more expensive model. I took this as a sign to just cut ties with MSI all together and I decided to go with the Razer Blade 15 Basic model (2020). I hope I have better luck this time around and don't regret purchasing this all over again...

Incredible quality, full package laptop
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Replaced my GS65 with this beauty and have 0 regrets. Improved build quality, looks better, and performs better with the 10th gen cpu. Can comfortably play any game at max/ultra settings with great performance. More laptop for the buck compared to any Razer or Asus with the same specs. Battery is incredible. I have 0 bad things to say about this laptop. Perfect for gaming, work, or any other use.

Great compact mobile gaming machine!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The hardware and spec’s on this rig is very good for the price range. Like most gaming laptops the case gets a little hot under heavy load and the cooling fan sounds like it’s trying to take flight but again only under heavy load. Because of the compact size this is a great laptop for a college student that needs the performance for class work and some high end gaming between classes. Adjusting power profiles helps make the battery last a little longer, getting around 5-6hrs normal class work load and around 4hrs under typical gaming load or watching streaming video.

Great Laptop For Gaming!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This laptop is worth it!This computer is great for beginners as well as experienced gaming laptop owners.Previous issues that would hinder game play are fixed in this laptop. The key board lights are colorful and can be customized to your liking. The price might be a bit high but this laptop is upgrade able so you can keep it longer. The only downside is fan noise on cooler boost setting but if you have a good Msi headset it won't be heard by you or anyone you are speaking to.

Exactly what the - great looking, powerful little
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Needed to replace a 6 year old home PC for a 3 year assignment to Japan. I am not a gamer, an engineer that is an automotive enthusiast by profession and hobby that enjoys track days in my cars. I have never tried my hand at iRacing but intend to do so while on assignment overseas in lieu of actual track days since my cars will be in storage state side. Honestly, I previously had never heard of MSI or knew anything about gaming laptops. I did my research over the last month or so, narrowed it down to the Razer Blade or the GS66 as I was looking for a laptop that can handle the normal home PC tasks, not scream "I'm a gaming PC", but able to handle so iRacing in the future. The simple, clean design, price point, additional SSD (1TB vs. 512), powerful CPU/GPU were all key selling points for me. I was a bit worried about the fan noise, it does get loud, but honestly with normal surfing and typical home office tasks it is much quieter than my 5 year old Lenovo desktop. I have set the fans to max speed manually and they are indeed loud, so I assume when gaming you will indeed want a set of head phones (which I assume most people use when gaming anyway?). The Dragon center is a little buggy, but so far for the most part is working OK. Overall all great laptop, super fast shipping form Best Buy, and the GS66 is exactly what I thought it would be after doing my homework. Super happy with my purchase, albeit only 1 week in to ownership.

Great specs and build quality!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The laptop has great build quality and some amazing specs. I sold my older GS65 to upgrade to the newer GS66. Honestly i wish at this price point it came with a non maxQ 2070 but the performance is still amazing. Only downside is the front lip of the laptop is plastic while the rest of the frame and chassis is top quality metal, not sure why they went this route with the design. As far as cooling the machine runs like you would expect any gaming laptop to run and that is a little warm. Im sure you can tweak settings and fan profiles to get even better cooling.

Great Performance but bad Wifi connection
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The computer performs very well. It runs games very smoothly and it runs high frames. The graphics are extremely nice as well, giving you a great sight at what you're looking at. It does get hot near the vents on the sides, as per usual with gaming laptops. Fans do get loud, but with headphones, you will get used to it. One problem is the issue with connection to WiFi. Normal usage, such as Netflix or the internet, it is fine. When it comes to certain online games however, the ping/connection causes them to lag. It is a inconvenience but it comes and goes.
