So like others have said, the calibration will take some time. It took me about 2 weeks of messing with it to get it right. I settled for the settings: Premium Color, User, brightness: 1000 nits (other option is 400), Brightness Uniformity - off, Sharpness 0-2 - usually set to 1 (depending), Halo Dimming 94-98 (depending), Local Dimming to level 3, and Image enhancement to Weak. These settings wont be the brightest possible, but will have good detail and no blooming. Also, go into the windows settings to display settings and update the refresh rate to 300 on the monitor (so that it actually works). From here, it looks really good. I've noticed the refresh rate is noticeably better than my last monitor which was a similar 1440p MSI monitor with 180hz refresh rate. I didn't think I would be able to notice, but I can. Overall, on dark games like Dragon's Dogma 2 or Dead By Daylight I can see a lot more detail due to the local dimming technology. It's much better in Dead By Daylight in particular. There was initially some blooming that was noticeable in bright scenes (in Warcraft 3) due to the increased brightness over my last monitor (from 400 nits to 1000 nits), but this is mitigated once the calibration is done. No longer noticeable. If you play dark scene games like Resident Evil, Dragon's Dogma, etc... this is a great monitor. Some people are comparing this to OLED, and I would say it is like an off-brand / or diet-OLED in a way. I would take this over the risk of Burn-in due to playing mostly RTS games like Warcraft 3 or SC2. I gave this a 5/5 due to the price. For this money, there wont be a monitor that is better. The only other monitor I considered was the TCL version which is a lower refresh rate but is more expensive. I stuck with MSI and I've yet to be disappointed with them. One of my favorite companies.

The MSI MAG 274QPF X30MV 27-inch MiniLED QHD Monitor has been a solid pickup so far. Right out of the box, the picture quality looks good; sharp, bright, and definitely a step up from a standard display. You can tell there’s a lot of potential here, especially with the MiniLED backlighting and all the built-in features. That said, it does feel like a monitor you have to grow into a bit. There are a ton of settings and tweaks, and I’m pretty sure I haven’t unlocked what it can really do yet. Out of the box it’s good, but based on reviews, it seems like it can be amazing once everything is dialed in properly. It is a little pricey for what it seems like at first glance, which gave me some pause. But I suspect a lot of that value comes from fine-tuning the experience, and I just haven’t fully gotten there yet. Overall though, I’m happy with it and optimistic that once I spend more time with the settings, it’ll really shine.
