The MSI - MAG Z790 Tomahawk Max Wifi has been a fantastic board so far. I picked this particular board since it has all the features I needed at a good price. Installation was quick and easy, and I had no issues. Booted right to BIOS the first time on my new PC build and recognized the Intel I7-14700k with no BIOS update required. Board layout is intuitive and connecting the cables was simple. Memory sticks snapped right in, as did the GPU and the M.2 SSD. Navigating BIOS for configuration was also an easy experience, though I didn't have to change much of anything (basically just bumped up the speed of the memory). There aren't any fancy LEDs like some motherboards have, but those aren't necessary for me and that certainly doesn't detract from the quality of the board. VRM heatsinks seem to do a good job, and the RGB connectors for the fans and CPU cooler keep things looking really nice. I highly recommend this motherboard... MSI has delivered a solid product here. The MB is solid. It was really easy to set-up. The MSI software automatically showed all the drivers I needed and downloaded and installed them. One major caveat with this motherboard is if you install a video card in the expansion slot, it will downgrade the M1 SDD card to 4.0 speeds. M1 is the only slot that supports version 5.0 SSD. I bought this motherboard for version 5 support and it can't do that if you use the video slot, so the 5.0 feature is pointless for me. If I had realized this, I would have bought the cheaper version of this MB instead. There are also various configurations where if you use 1 specific port another port can't be used which is frustrating.

(For a warning Idont know much about the amd stuff so if you were looking for a nvdia review here it is) The MSI MAG Z790 TOMAHAWK MAX WIFI stands out as a performance, connectivity, and build quality. It’s amazing for a high-performance system without spending a whole lot. However, you should be aware of the lack of PCIe 5.0 M.2 support. But overall the bios is super easy to navigate and the motherboard is perfect for the 5th gen NVIDIA gpus and the 4th gen for the price.

Have been using this motherboard for awhile now. Haven't had any issues with it. I did swap the M.2 to the 2nd slot so the GPU did not have any performance loss since it is shared with slot #1. Other than that, things are great. I like the color, all the heatsinks. Great experience.

Upgraded from MSI Z590 Gaming Pro WiFi (CEC). Motherboard runs great. Mine did not require a BIOS update for the i7 14700k I paired this with. To install Windows 11 (since it requires MS Account and internet during install) I had to follow a Reddit forum and boot into recovery mode with Command Prompt and run OOBE to get to create a local administrator account as out of the box the hard wired NIC, while activity light flashing) does not get internet. Many people had issues with WiFi nor Ethernet working during install. Once I followed the OOBE method and install chipset firmware and drivers post install, I’ve not had any issues.

I've been a fan of MSI for more than a decade. Never have had any problems with their products. The IO shield is nice, and the motherboard's coloring theme is not too atrocious. This is a very solid board and more than enough for most normal use and overclocking needs. BIOS is easy to use and has some simple good features to push memory speed. Easy to diagnose issues and took a fraction of a time to get working. This is a fantastic bargain for what you get and I highly recommend this board. Looks awesome and a great performer!

I know many people are concerned with the stability issues with 13th and 14th gen Intel CPUs, I ran a i9 14900K in this for over a year and bios updates were regular and I never experienced any instability using this board. Has a ton of SATA ports for large storage builds, for gaming gives you everything you need at a good price point.

I was worried being a first time PC builder. The plugs and wires had me flustered before I even started. Once I got the parts, this motherboard helped me streamline everything. It made everything so simple, and I was able to assemble everything without a headache! If you're looking to build a rig, i highly recommend this motherboard. Its a pretty solid update on the z690 tomahawk. Read the manual for block diagram though because some of the lanes are shared or disable ports if used. There might be a Gen 5 slot 1 for an nvme but I wouldn't use it if you plan to buy next Gen GPU card. It will split the lanes between slot one and your GPU. Update the bios on board asap.

Great so far but I’ve been having issues when my monitor turns a solid green when I boot up steamvr with my Valve index plugged into the display port of my GPU, it never happened with the previous gen of Intel and msi motherboards, except for another issue where if I have my steam vr display port plugged it it skips the logo and straight to login but on occasion it would show a black screen.

Great Board had all the feature I was looking for. Unfortunately the first board was defective (LGA1700 socket was missing a pin). Happily the Best Buy staff replaced the board. Now I have a super system.

This motherboard is replacing an ASUS that started having problems with the video. So far, this motherboard is awesome. Extremely easy to install, however, LAN drivers should be installed first to make installation easier. The motherboard is well built and is extremely fast. Very good quality!

My boyfriend and I bought this part because we built a computer and we used this. No problems so far and we're very happy with it!

This motherboard did the job. Got it working with an I7 and has wifi!
