Customers are saying

Customers admire the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 12GB VENTUS 3X 12GB DDR6X PCI Express 4.0 Graphics Card's impressive performance, especially at 1440p resolution, and its high frame rates, enhanced by DLSS and ray tracing capabilities. Many appreciate the card's excellent price-to-performance ratio and its relatively quiet operation. However, some users note that the power consumption might be higher than anticipated.

Ever since the GTX 470, I have only ever bought AMD cards due to their value proposition. And before this card I had the RX 6700 XT (which I kept, and put in another system of ours). I was debating getting the RX 7900 XT and could have afforded to do so. In the end I chose the RTX 4070, and although the RX 7900 XT has 15-30% more rasterization performance, it does so at 50% more power and 33% higher price. That price does include more RAM, but since I don't game at 4K ( I think it unnecessary, 1440p is enough quality for me) and I don't play games on maxed out quality modes, I don't need that much RAM. The difference in performance is more than made up by DLSS (2, not 3, I still haven't had the chance to try frame gen). The quality of DLSS Quality is 90 to 95% as good as non upscaled quality, which in a fast paced game is enough for me. And in non fast paced games, or single player games, that would be better of without DLSS, the card itself has enough performance to run those too. According to tomshardware's "Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 Review" under the section "GeForce RTX 4070: DLSS 2, DLSS3, and FSR 2 Upscaling", DLSS2 is on average 44% faster than non upscaled image. You might say that the RX 7900 XT could also have more performance with FSR 2. But I used to have the RX 6700 XT, and FSR 2 is leagues behind DLSS in terms of quality. Hardware Unboxed recently did an analysis of DLSS 2 vs FSR 2 and another video comparing DLSS 2 to Native quality. In 1440p (which is what I use) DLSS was always a better quality than FSR 2 was and in 4K FSR 2 was only able to tie with DLSS in 5 titles out of 26, there were no titles that FSR 2 was better than DLSS. When compared to Native, DLSS 2 Quality traded blows with Native resolution. In 1440p, DLSS Quality was either tied or offered better quality than native for 15 out of the 24 games tested. And in 4K, DLLS Quality was either tied or better in 14 out of the 24 games tested. I did a lot of research before making my mind and buying the RTX 4070 over the RX 7900 XT, and also over last generation offerings. The RTX 4070 offers an RTX 3080 level performance at a significantly lower price, plus it has frame generation (which I have yet to test). And when looked at against the RX 6950 XT, it only requires a 650 watt power supply (I have a 750 watt power supply), and the RX 6950 XT needs a 850 watt power supply (so would have needed to upgrade my power supply as well). After much consideration, I went with the RTX 4070. I've had this model for 6 weeks (and 2 days). I am very happy with it. It has been running amazing and often times doesn't make any noise, even when playing games. I am very happy with this purchase. Would it have been better value at $500, definitely, but still really good value at $400. I hope my analysis has helped someone else looking to buy a new graphics card as well.

Its honestly great, reviewers and reddit users make it seem way worse than it is tbh. 1440p? check. 4k? Check. Ray tracing? Check. Frame gen? Check. Runs silent and ice cold, looks incredible and fits in basically any case.

NVIDIA RTX 4070 — A Powerful First Step The RTX 4070 was my very first GPU, and I paired it with an Intel i5-13400 in my first fully built PC — a system I assembled entirely on my own. Together, they delivered incredible performance, letting me experience high-end gaming and creative work like never before. This combo was smooth, efficient, and exceeded all my expectations. Over a year later, it’s still running strong — a reminder of where it all started and how far I’ve come.

As the system & graphic requirements for newer games increases I've had upgrade core components of my self-built computer (cpu, motherboard, ram); and with the recent decrease in price of newer GPUs - $600 very reasonable - the time felt right. I bought this to replace my reliable, but 9-yr old rtx 970, and the change in most visuals was immediate and beautiful! The only reason for not giving 5 stars is due to system restart issues ive been having- likely the power requirements are more than i thought, though my PSU (750w) is one of the oldest remaining parts, so it may be time to upgrade that too.

Its a bit pricey at 600$ but the performance you get is kinda worth it. I also recommend getting something to hold th GPU up because it does sag without any support.

Expected this card to perform similarly to the rtx 3080 i had. It leaves it behind. Low heat. Power is not too bad. Fps during dying light 2 easily surpassed the 3080 and having access to dlss and frame generation makes this card work great. 1440p ultra!

This card is just stupid amazing. I mean Frame Generation is so crazy. I went from only getting 45fps in Cyberpunk with everything maxed (including RT), including the two settings set to Psycho, on my 3070, to getting 109 with the 4070 and I can't tell the difference. People will say they can, but they have to show you a screenshot of a single frame. I'm sorry, but unless people have some of the augments you can get in your body in Cyberpunk 2077, there is no way they can see a single frame when there are over 100 shown every second, so they are either just trying to being negative just to be negative, or they are just jealous because they can't afford to get it. Either way, get this card, it is crazy. It is super quiet and runs at about 41-45C idle (22C room temp) and about 65C under load, never seen it go higher then maybe 67, it's crazy, and the performance boost as I've stated is out of this world.

Incredible upgrade. Went from a GTX 1080 to this RTX 4070 and the performance only speaks for itself especially at 1440p. DLSS 3.5, Frame Generation, couldnt get better.

Amazing card. Low wattage usage. Fans nearly turn on, graphic card has a lot of horse power. 12GB is a plus which it help on those heavy load games. Had it for few weeks. Will recommend it.

DLSS 3 is a game changer

It's fast (about as fast as an 3080), has very little power draw, and DLSS 3 massively increases frame rates (which is only available on 4000 series cards), letting you run games on ultra with ray tracing set to maximum quality at 1440p while getting fps far beyond 60. It does this by using AI to generate easy to render frames between the more difficult to generate frames, effectively doubling your frame rate. If you pause and go frame by frame, the AI generated frames have slight artifacts, but at the short frame times that come with the increased fps, they're extremely hard to spot without pausing the gameplay and watching it frame by frame. Nvidia have also been updating drivers for games that support DLSS 3, removing some of the issues certain games had with the technology. TLDR: I like it.
