Customers often highlight the PRO Z690-A DDR4 motherboard's strong performance and overclocking capabilities, along with its competitive price and user-friendly design. Many appreciate its ease of setup and the inclusion of multiple M.2 slots. However, some users point out the lack of integrated Wi-Fi and find the included instructions inadequate. A small number also reported issues with XMP profiles and the ethernet port.

The biggest issue I had with this motherboard was that there was no way to install updates because there was no driver for the network adapter. I had to use another computer to download the files from MSI's website, but the drivers simply didn't work.
I ended up tethering my phone through the USB port and sharing my phone's wifi connection, at which point I just used windows update to download the correct drivers which sure enough worked perfectly. After that, everything was normal and I've had zero issues. It works great with my 12700k.

The motherboard has a few hiccups, they're not impossible to work around, but each version of the bios that's been released has its quirks. XMP is a little buggy, leading to lockups when returning from sleep mode. Manually applying my RAM timings seemed to be okay until it wasn't, my Firefox tabs started crashing randomly and then eventually I got a BSOD.
If you're not going to use XMP, then by all means buy this. But give the platform a little more time to mature first, this is the first generation where Intel has really taken a sharp turn from their usual architecture, and it's going to take a little time to hammer out all the bugs.

Overclocks like a champ on DDR4 and runs my Samsung Bida at 3900c14 with tight sub-timings. CPU on all cores pulls almost 300w and this has no issue supplying that and staying cool. save your money and get this ( or wifi version if you need that) the only thing I wish it had was a postcode. but as of now, there is not a z690 DDR4 board with a postcode to my knowledge. don't waste your money on anything more expensive, unless you want aesthetics.

The best value for an intel 12th gen build

This board checks all the right boxes without breaking the bank. 4 nvme slots for ultra fast m.2 ssd drives, pcie 5.0 for future GPU upgrades, ddr4 ram compatibility so that you don't have to wait for ddr5 to be available or have to pay that much for it, and last but not least is the necessary z690 chipset to be able to run a 12th Gen CPU. Pair this with a 12600k or kf CPU and you will have an ultimate gaming machine for many years to come

I purchased this because it is one of the cheaper Z690 motherboards and I don't plan on upgrading to DDR5 for the foreseeable future. So far it's performed well with my Intel i7 12700KF and EVGA RTX 3080 TI.
My only complaints with this board are:
- Lack of manual & accessories: the box comes with no manual, and the online manual is very lacking. There are very few accessories such as screws, mounting brackets, etc. You pretty much get just the motherboard, the driver installation disc, and a couple of SATA cables. The packaging is very basic and feels cheap.
- BIOS: This is my first MSI board, so compared to my previous Gigabyte board, the BIOS interface seems cluttered and un-intuitive. Overclocking options are very limited.
- Audio: Small inconvenience, but the audio chipset/driver does not support audio enhancements for sound devices in Windows. I previously relied on this feature to reduce the bass of my subwoofer, but cannot use that feature with this motherboard.
Overall it's a good motherboard that will do its job. But I'm a little disappointed with the features and overall quality for this price of motherboard.

Product was awesome. Had trouble where Ethernet didn’t work but you just need to set up wireless wifi to have the drivers install. Other than that perfect mobo with 4 m.2 slots for this price is amazing. Great mobo.

Best Z690 Value

I did a lot research for Z690 before I picked this up. First off, be aware this version only takes DDR4 memory and does not include WIFI. The BIOS takes a bit to get used to but other than that, this IS the best value Z690 out there. It has plenty of VRM for overclocking. Paying for anything more from a motherboard is a bit silly unless you need more USBs or 10Gb LAN.

Decent budget board for my 12900k. Difficult to find DDR5 right now so I went with some Crucial Ballistix MAX RGB 4400 MHz DDR4 32GB CL19 instead. Enabled XMP profile and it worked without a hitch right off the bat running at 4400 MHz. Board came installed with the latest BIOS too. Haven't tried overclocking the cpu but I don't plan too. It doesn't come with WiFi 6 but you can always buy an adapter for that. I prefer the ethernet port anyhow. I'll probably just stick with this board for now since it saved me some money and with my 3090 this system is plenty fast for all my gaming needs.

It worked which was all I needed to do but I don’t believe it is worth the cost. Other better looking boards are available for not much more, or the same price. If you need something quickly and this is all that’s available then this is perfect but if you have a bit of extra money and don’t need it ASAP I’d go with something else.

The first one I got had a non working ethernet. the second one had a later bios and worked right out of the box. I had worked over a week on trying to get the first one working new bios new drivers etc, finally tech support agreed the board was bad. No complaints with the second one.

Great motherboard for mid-range use. I wish it had at least a built-in wifi card, but I do realize you have to have that with the specific version. I picked up a TP-Link Archer and it works great along with this mobo. Works perfect for medium to heavy gaming. Hasn't failed me yet!

Didnt work originally because of Static build-up, had to be discharged. Also they provide a disk including the required drivers. Make sure you have the drivers downloaded off the MSi website onto a USB otherwise your ethernet port wont work. Solid hardware though and good performance
