Ive been researching and price checking laptops extensively and finally settled on this MSI Vector 16. I've been running two high end ASUS laptops for the past 10 years, but this MSI has impressed me greatly. This system is by far the best price to performance ratio of the 50XX series laptops, no question. Easily handles whatever games I throw at it on ultra settings without much effort. If you're considering a RTX 5090 instead, you'll be paying around 1000 bucks more for a tiny unnoticeable performance boost. The laptop is thick and heavy, which certainly has its drawbacks, but I like a nice sturdy machine with a robust cooling system. My 2023 Strix is bigger (18") yet lighter and feels flimsy by comparison. Screen is vibrant and gets nice and bright. I use it in my car often, the 500 nits brightness really helps outdoors in the daytime. Speakers sound good and are loud enough. Included sound control software works pretty well Fans can get quite loud, certainly the biggest con of this device and possibly a deal breaker for some. They spin up even at idle occasionally, which seems odd. Thankfully MSI software has power controls ranging from extreme to eco-silent. I have successfully run various games on eco mode with hardly any fan noise, which I love. Power efficiency is related here, less power means less heat and fan noise. Basic tasks like web surfing it uses about 50 watts. Relatively less demanding games on max graphics like Snowrunner and Earth Defense Force 5 can run as low as 90-100 watts when capped at 60 fps, which strikes me as very power efficient. Balanced power mode is good for more demanding applications. It provides the system way more power while keeping the fan noise tolerable. Overall I'm extremely satisfied with the Vector and highly recommend it.

I was looking to get a system that was more towards the higher end. Best Buy was running a sale with this puppy at $500 off. It was $2000 for a laptop with an rtx 5080!!! It runs great! Every game I throw at it. I have PS5 pro and it outperforms it by a more than fair margin. I hqve compared some games on both and this is next level. Graphically as well as running games buttery smooth. It is pretty loud but even still its not too bad. I play with headphones 99% of the time. I will be testing PSVR2 performance on it soon.

My wife bought an Asus ROG Strix G18 RTX4080 from BestBuy. Gotta say Asus QC is much better than MSI. The MSI laptop I got not only has the issues of backlight bleeding and dead pixels but also has scratches and dents at the bottom of the laptop. When I picked up the laptop from Bestbuy, one of the product box corners was dented. I bought the MSI laptop at a discounted price of $2,274.99. There was no inventory available at the store for replacement. The store manager offered me a $25 discount for the inconvenience. I would recommend you get the Asus laptop.

I was looking for a new laptop to take with me on eSports outings, so I didn't have to keep tearing my desktop down and transporting such a heavy system. I have an Alienware M17R4 laptop already, but not with the latest graphics. I'd been keeping an eye out for the 50-series laptops to come out. When I saw this MSI Vector 16 HX AI initially being offered at BB, I jumped at the chance to purchase. Being so new, there aren't many reviews out there, but I took the chance anyway. It's an outstanding laptop to start with. I've only had it a day, but I've been putting it thru the tests. So far, wow! I'm not seeing the issue with the fan noise that one reviewer said. He'd said that it could be 60db and is quite load. I have yet to hear it spin up for be as loud as he was claiming, and it's been running heavy tests for an hour. I know most folks will look at that being a critical factor on whether they purchase or not. Maybe I've gotten used to loud laptop fans, but I'm not really noticing it at full load. It's very quiet on balanced. I wouldn't even known the fans were running if it hadn't been sitting on my lap. I can feel the air being pushed and doing its job. The casing was the guys second complaint. I would swear, mine is a metal alloy on the bottom and outer top. The keyboard deck is plastic, but it is pretty stiff and not flexible. The Intel Ultimate 9 series 2 processor I do think will be the limiting factor on speed. It's not as fast as an Intel i9 14900HX. But it's an excellent compromise to get more battery life. The NVIDIA 5080 is a beast. The initial setup didn't take too long, about an hour to finish. There was very little bloatware. While I'm not a fan of the MSI Center, it's adequate. I consider it bloatware, but what can you do? My complaints about this machine? There are a few. First off, it isn't OLED or Nano or HDR. But the screen is 240hz and is bright. I haven't noticed too much tearing yet, but I will continue testing with other demanding games to push the limits. The next is the keyboard. It does have a weird feeling to it. It's a basic keyboard, chiclet style. It only has 24 zones for RG lighting, but I would have expected per key like on my Alienware. The keyboard also feels a bit squished, but it works and I'll get used to it as time goes by. The keypad... wow.. could they have gone any smaller? That one will REALLY take some getting used to. It is functional, but I wouldn't suggest by touch. That's it... do I recommend the MSI Vector 16 HX AI? Absolutely! It's a great price compared to other similarly configured laptops. There are some compromises that you will need to consider. Is this laptop for everyone? Probably not. Each person has their own requirements and needs. This machine fit mine!

An amazing laptop for the price. I upgraded it to 64GB Crucial DDR5 RAM and it runs great. It'll play just about anything you throw at it I tested Cyberpunk 2077 and Assassin's Creed Shadows both at maximum settings path tracing included on Cyberpunk and it ran very well. Fans get a little loud, but worth it for the price point and power

Great laptop for the money if bought on sale, currently the cheapest full wattage 5080 gaming laptop. Performance is fantastic, no throttle or temp issues with CPU or GPU. Screen is great with vibrant colors. Biggest negative is the fan noise... they are loud when the system is pushed hard. Temps are never an issue, but it comes at the cost of noise for sure. One good thing about this CPU/GPU combo though is you can play most games at low power settings, so for those it stays plenty quite. Second negative is the 16GB RAM, you are going to want to upgrade that at some point. I had 96GB (2 48GB sticks) leftover from my previous laptop, and the upgrade is super simple on this laptop. Chassis is bigger than a thin or ultra-thin laptop, so keep that in mind if that's a priority, but it's a very solid chassis with great heat dissipation. I grabbed it on sale for $1899 and couldn't be happier, loving it so far, and as mentioned above, the performance is insane.

The definition of a beast gaming PC, however it comes its cons such as insufficient amount of RAM to run modern games on higher resolution with highest graphic presets. The gpu and cpu are perfect for gaming with highest visual fidelity. ANOTHER thing you must keep in mind is that the laptop is the loudest PC I've ever heard in my life. I can barely hear the game with my headsets are on.

Fans gets loud at max load. I get roughly 19k in 3dmark steel nomad, and 160 fps in furmark with no AA, and about 78-80c max during 30mins furmark. Sometimes the mechanical parts of the keys feel like theyre rubbing against each other when I type. My favorite feature is that the battery limit is hardware or firmware level, so it works even when powered off. Intel RST is enabled by default so you have to either disable it (which requires a uefi key combination they dont tell you about just to see the option to disable), or you need to download the drivers to a usb prior to installing windows. The pre installed windows comes with the driver but if you want to upgrade your ssd youll need to do either of those. 4x dlss makes most games run 200+ fps. 1-14 fps on quake II rtx. I havent tried any other raytracing games.

    Best RTX 5080 Value

Display is good, about as good as an IPS can be. Hit 23.6k in Timespy graphics benchmark with just the "Extreme Performance" preset in MSI Center. Easily sustains 175W to the 5080 after the most recent driver update and ~75W to the CPU so performance is excellent. Fans can get loud, but the large vents on the bottom mean that using a cooler like a GT500 will help a lot with keeping temperatures low. Build quality feels good even if the design does feel a bit dated compared to some of the other options like the Strix or Legion, though those are easily $500+ for the same specs. Easily the best value 5080 laptop at the moment.

This laptop is fantastic. Runs great "at the one month mark". 5080 graphics card is premium in this machine. Handles intense games like final fantasy 7 remake and Clair Obscure expedition 33 like its nothing. Strognly reccomend this MSI!

This thing is an absolute monster for this price point! Seriously I advertised this to everyone I talked to at work, and hope as many people got it as were in the market for a nice upgrade! I have decided to pair it with Crucial - 64GB, since 16Gigs is good for VRAM, but not so good for RAM, but honestly, that was to be expected. I got it specifically to keep my VR mobile, and holy crap does this thing deliver! So far every game has been running like a dream. I do stand it up like an A-frame when I game, since I don't need the screen and it seems to help with keeping it cool, although I don't think it needs my help, since those blowers generate enough force to push small objects and paper off the table at full power.

After roughly 6 months of heavy use, I'd say this laptop does nearly everything you could expect it to quite well - and I'm historically "particular" with gaming laptops. If I'm going to callout anything in particular as a con, the laptop's fans can be a significant source of noise as the device's temperature rises (but that should be expected in all honestly) 4.75 out of 5 for me!

It offers good quality at the lowest price of a 5080 laptop. However, the vulnerable plastic shell may bend or crack if you use some force, even moderate, to press or accidentally knock it by your hand, elbow or wrist. There is still some white light leakage due to IPS, but it is acceptable. All in all, if you just have a limited budget and want to enjoy the 5080 laptop. It is the current best option, but need careful daily using.
