Customers are saying

Customers consistently note the Multigroom Series 7400's excellent battery life and ease of use, along with its waterproof design and useful attachments. Many appreciate its power and water resistance, finding it convenient for showering. However, some users found the trimming performance inconsistent and the body shaver less effective than expected for a close shave.

    Gets better with practice

Set Up - The trimmer was ultra easy to set up. It was charged and ready to go right out of the box. It was simple to figure out which adjustable head to choose thanks to the pictures that show what each is used for. It has a lot of power that our cheaper trimmer did not have, and so it takes fewer passes to trim facial hair. The Bad - The first time using it was not the best experience. Even using the facial hair clip and the settings 3-7, trimming facial hair didn't come out even. There is also no way to detail small areas that you don't want to fully shave, like your mustache. My son found it difficult to do a simple beard trim to a 5:00 shadow and said it was tough to adjust to the contour of his angular face. The Good - This groomer is great for shaping beards. The body hair attachments work great! It takes only one pass to trim underarms.

    Comfortable shave but clumsy attachments

It was nice being able to shave without worrying if the blade would pull on my hairs or if I would be nicked by the blade when doing my lip area. Only problem was that the attachments did not help shave at the length I chose for them. I followed the instructions and set them for the highest to protect myself from shaving too short but when I went against the growth the hair was still chopped too short or uneven in places. The foil attachment with the edge blades also caused me to cut uneven lines in my neckline while trying to even it out. So if you are getting this shaver for the attachment possibilities I would probably keep looking as this one leaves a lot to be desired.

    Good all-around trimmer

I've had my 7400 for about 2 weeks now and used it multiple times. The various different attachments are functional, some more than others. The bodygroom shaver works well and cuts beard stubble cleanly without having to make too many passes. Nose trimmer works quite well. The body comb attachment, regardless of the length setting, requires many passes to do an adequate job. I believe the design of this attachment could be better, to allow a quicker job on body hair. I don't typically use electric shavers or trimmers in the 'wet' mode so I can't comment on it's performance under that condition. Overall, it provides adequate performance for its intended purpose. Like all rechargeable shavers (as opposed to corded units), it can be a bit lacking in power, especially when the battery is running low. Otherwise, a decent unit.

The Philips Norelco Series 7400 trimmer operates very easily and cleaning. With all the attachments included, it gives me the ability to trim any portion of my husbands beard and hair easily and quickly, with no "mistakes"! It doesn't pull the hair, running across it smoothly.

This Norelco trimmer is great. You can trim any length hair head to toe quickly and safely. The included guide combs allow for customized trimming and the best part is it all works in the shower. Must buy if you are in the market for a versatile, high quality trimmer.

This unit works alongside of another unit that I have that only trims to 5mm. I like that unit because it is rock solid and very easy to adjust, however, if I want to keep my beard longer, it's not an option. This unit allows me many more (longer) hair lengths. Things I like: Lots of accessories and a storage bag to keep everything in Built-in, rechargeable battery Think I DON'T like: The way the plastic combs attach makes them easy to bend and flex, which could result in shorter length that desired No charging stand, so unit just sits on counter with cord hanging from it (more of a personal preference based on units I've owned in the past) Overall: I'm happy with it since it ultimately gets the job done.

    Good enough without the guards

It comes with three different guards: one for beard trimming, one for body hair grooming, and one for hair trimming. I don't cut my own hair, so I did not try out the one for hair trimming. The one for beard trimming is next to useless. The one for body hair grooming is passable, but I've used better. Best use for this is without any guards, just evening up the bottom of my moustache and trimming the hairline around my ears. This is a lot to pay for that limited usefulness, though.

As I received the product during 'no-shave November' it took me a bit to test it out, but when I finally did, it was worth the wait. The packaging makes note of which attachment is designed for which parts of the body, and luckily, keeping the packaging isn't necessary, as the attachments have small 'carvings' showing you the same info. Switching out the parts is simple, with some directly attaching to the device, and others going over another attachment. Removing the hair trimmers is a little more difficult; it feels like the release mechanism could be better. The shave and trim worked well, with only slight discomfort coming from the foil screen close shave attachment, but it's no worse than any of similar design I've used in the past. Overall, I'd say the product is well worth it.

The Philips Norelco Multigroom Series 7400 Wet/dry Trimmer with 3 Guide Combs is definitely a high tech device. It gives a smooth razor type shave on my face and neck. It takes a bit of time to get used to all of the attachments, unlike the old fashioned edge clippers used by barbers to get sharp clean lines. With the attachments, you must become accustomed to figuring out how much length of hair will be cut, unlike the old fashioned clippers that have an adjustable lever to shorten or lengthen the cut of your hair. The Philips Norelco Multigroom Series 7400 Wet/dry Trimmer with 3 Guide Combs is a full body hair cutter for the entire body, which makes it more economical than purchasing multiple grooming tools to groom yourself. I like it and look forward to using all the attachments.

Let me say I was impressed with the attachments included with trimmer. And it had a very nice carry case. I charged the trimmer overnight and it was ready to go, I am a very hairy guy and it made easy work of my beard and neck line. I really liked the wet shaving capabilities. I used it on turbo mode so it was a breeze. I love the design on the nose hair trimmer. And I Have very thick hair. Overall I love the in shower safe shaving helps on those busy mornings. Some of the combs were not well built you can manage to get the job done. Bottom line if you need a trimmer give it a dance you will like it. I'm getting my dad one for christmas

    Outstanding multi-grooming tool

Let me start this review by saying that I have had and used many different types of multi-grooming, body grooming, and razors to shave the copious amounts of hair that I grow. I am a fairly hairy guy and do like to keep up good appearances, which is not always an easy task. This trimmer however makes that process much simpler and much more painless than other options. This is not my first Philips Norelco product, but it is definitely one of the best that I have used. The attachments are easy to change out and clean, the case for holding these attachments is more than large enough for the job, and the option of using it either wet or dry depending on your need is an amazing option. I would thoroughly recommend this to anyone looking for a multi-grooming trimmer.

Avoid product for beards and shaved heads

I am a middle aged male that shaves constantly. I shave my facial hair 3-4 times a week and I shave my head once a week. That being in mind, I find this product very useful. It does both wet and dry cuts which comes in handy for me. My only complaint is sometimes I still find a razor is more comfortable for me with abnormal areas on my head and face (bumps, pimples, ect) Also sometimes because of the shape of my head certain areas get a close shave than others. All in all this is a fair product if you are looking for an electric shaver or razor.

Easy to use, not so easy to read instructions

The unit fully charged within two hours. Nose hair, body shaver and guides worked perfectly. Unit came with a bag to hold all its accessories. There are no pockets within the bag so everything is jumbled all together. That makes it more likely to lose an attachment without realizing it. Also, the instructions are on a huge fold out with English on one side and Spanish on the other. You have to lay it out on your bed to read thru it all. Folding it up had a degree of difficulty; it was like the old days of trying to fold a map back up neatly. Given lack of organization inside bag and map-like instructions, only give 4 out of 5 stars.

I got this as I was sick and tired of the electric razors made for women. They only do one thing and this does a LOT. I can shave my legs and underarms, trim nose hairs (yes, women have those as well as men), trim my aunts neck- she wears her hair short and needs a neck trim between hair cuts, and if I feel really crazy come summer time, I can give myself a faddish head shave. The little bag that came with it is great for storing all the different trimming heads, otherwise I am sure the bag would be good for travel (but then where would you store all the trimming heads??). I have been using it for about 2 weeks and so far so good!

This trimmer is nice! All the included attachments and the leather carry bag gives this trimmer top notch status. It only took about 1 1/2 hour to charge fully. Its lightweight and very easy to use.

Great grooming package for traveling. Comfortable to hold but very slippery when using it in the shower. The included combing attachments are made of very thin plastic so you have to make sure you don't crush them in your bag. The attachments are easily attached and the combing attachments are adjustable. The shaver doesn't shave close enough (understandably so) and I have thin hair. It has 2 trimmer heads and I use the precision trimmer head for trimming my son's hair. It works great because it is less "scary" than the full size trimmer. Overall, I am satisfied with it.

Out of the box, this Norelco Multigroom feels pretty decent in my hand. I like being able to swap to different attachments with a quick twist. However, I was disappointed to learn that it does not come with a stand. It comes with a charging cord and all the accessories, and a bag to hold it all. Without going deep into the instructions, I grabbed the shaver attachment and tried to shave my face. It didn't do a great job and it took several passes to get all the hair. Because of the trimming teeth on both sides of the shaver, it tended to irritate me going back and forth. I then tried the trimmer with the hair comb. Unfortunately the tines of the comb don't do a great job picking up the hair so I had to make several passes. The tines of the comb also feel a little flimsy. The detail trimmer worked fine for my sideburns. I later sat down with the instructions and found out that the shaver is not to be used for your face. It is only to be used below the neck. What gives? For a device that is sold under the name of Multigroom, I would expect to have a face shaver attachment. And being a Norelco, I would expect it to have the customary 3 round floating heads for shaving. I think this product is more geared towards men that want to keep some stubble and want the choice of trimming their hair. If you want a clean shave, look elsewhere.

I used a cheap old hair buzzer for trimming my neck and body hair. It did just fine, but it could only get so close (I didn't have a close trimmer). This Philips Norelco trimmer is fantastic. It's rechargeable, which is a huge plus, no need to plug in, and it comes with a nice bag to store the trimmer and all of the attachments. The "body hair" attachment can be a little rough (it feels like it pulls hair) but it does a great job of getting close to your skin. I haven't used the hair trimmer, because I don't cut your hair, but if you shave any body hair this is a great choice. And you can use it in the shower which for me is easier than sweeping up hair on the floor.
