Customers are saying

Customers find value in the 7.1.4-Channel Soundbar System's sound quality, with many praising its amazing and spacious sound stage. The easy setup process and the impressive Dolby Atmos feature are also highly regarded. While some customers appreciate the price point, others find it to be a bit expensive. There are also concerns about connectivity issues and the HDMI ARC functionality not working as expected.

Simple hook up and dose not work via HDMI ARC, Called support spoke to someone told me to hook it up optical I have an OLED B8 , should not have to hook it up optical , After we couldnt get it to work via Hdmi , He told me to send an email to support , who just forward me the info on there site that I have read and gone through. So upset, I wanted to love this . My advice is dont do what I did and Install everything on your wall, get it to work on the floor, is my advice. Now I have holes in my wall and I'll have to find a soundbar wide enough . to cover them .

Wifi interference and poor subwoofer connection

I really wanted to like the Nakamichi soundbar. Initial setup was very straightforward. I removed my old 5.1 surround system and setup the Nakamichi with two devices (4k apple tv, xbox one x) and performed some tests with Bluetooth music followed by streaming video and a 4k bluray. This soundbar system has some issues, some are minor and some are major MINOR ISSUES 1) Pausing sources and starting them via ARC, there is almost a 20 second lag between video resume and audio. 2) The display on the soundbar is covered by a mesh grill making the output on the display very hard to read and navigate through the soundbar menus. I was expecting the menu navigation to also have some readout on the tv display or at least an option since it is connected to the display by ARC, but there is no menu output displayed on the tv. MAJOR ISSUES 3) Interference Problems created by the interaction of the soundbar and 5ghz routers make the subwoofer and internet connection unbearable Starting my apple tv, I was greeted with a warning that I might not be able to stream in 4k due to low download speeds. I proceeded. Trying a streaming movie with Dolby Atmos, I noticed the subwoofer cutting in and out. I verified that I was running the latest firmware (FW35), which appears to provide a potential solution for interference between the soundbar and multiband routers by changing the frequency that the soundbar operates (reference below). This makes it pretty clear that Nakamichi knows that this is an issue with their equipment. This seemed to help some which made me think that my audio distortions may be due to an ISP problem. I checked and I was only getting 17-25 mbps from my wifi instead of my usual 98 mbps. Troubleshooting, I discovered that the soundbar was creating problems with my google wifi. Turning off the soundbar and subwoofer, my internet connection speed immediately improved. Power cycling my mesh network (Resolution 1B in the reference) created some improvement in internet connection speeds (I was only losing 30 mbps instead of 80 mbps), but the signal to the subwoofer remained unreliable. Completely disabling my router and playing a 4k blu ray, the distortions remained, suggesting that nearby wifi networks are also creating interference. My 7+ year old, cheapo Visio soundbar surround system has never had any distortion problems in the exact same location. It is UNACCEPTABLE for a high-end system like this to have so many problems out of the box performing its basic function and operating in an environment with wifi routers. Started out AMAZING! I was so happy and showing it off to my family and friends. It’s LOUD and the Surround/Atmos is pretty great. But now, after 2 months, it keeps randomly dropping audio and becomes staticky after regaining audio. That’s no good for the price of this thing! The yes “recommendation “ is for if it was to work flawlessly without the audio drop and static.

My opinion. I didn't like it at all. It sounded like an old stereo system. I had high expectations from reading other reviews but id advise that you spend the extra money and invest in bose soundbar 700 or 900. Yea i know you have to buy things individually but if you want a Quality product, this isnt it. Im sure my preference is different but the previous reviews and the fancy labeling about this product reeled me in. No im not a Bose rep or get paid by Bose for bragging about their product. If your not a fan of Bose, cool. All im saying is that this product didnt meet my expectations from either the soundbar itself or the surround speakers. And after the disappointment i went with a brand name i know of.

Tried this out and ended up returning. Don't get me wrong it does sound decent but not $700 decent coming from my Vizio 5.1 soundbar system. It sounds more hollow but the subwoofer was a little punchier. Your results may vary.

I HATE it. I should have stuck to sonos. I guess once you have sonos everything else sounds like crap. The bass is great but it lags everywhere else. I do not recommend for the money. You be in the same boat with a $300 vizio system. Maybe even in a slighly better boat with the vizio.

I really wanted to love this system as it is a cost effective way to get Dolby Atmos without spending a ton of money. However, the Nakamichi soundbar would always revert to volume "50" when turned on, which was deafening. Customer service, which was hard to get ahold of was unable help, even after updating the firmware. I ended up returning the unit.
