I really wanted to love this system as it is a cost effective way to get Dolby Atmos without spending a ton of money. However, the Nakamichi soundbar would always revert to volume "50" when turned on, which was deafening. Customer service, which was hard to get ahold of was unable help, even after updating the firmware. I ended up returning the unit.

Best sound bar system for money

I purchased this soundbar system because I wanted surround sound + dolby atmos in my living room, but I couldn't run wires to my ceiling or rear speakers as my floors are tile. I have a dedicated home theater system in another room so my comparisons are coming based on that. I was a little suspicious on the whole "virtual height surround sound idea - Specially for dolby atmos, but after listening to some Dolby atmos demos, some TV shows/movies with atmos, I was blown away. I don't know how it does it but it really does reproduce great height effects. I feel like the subwoofer is good enough for most people, but keep in mind it is nowhere near as loud and punchy as a dedicated AV receiver + subwoofer (even with bass and SB levels maxed out). I also wish there was a way to add a secondary subwoofer to the 7.1.4 system. Pros -Price for what you're getting -More HDMI inputs (3) compared to other sound bar systems on the market -All 3 HDMI ports support HDCP 2.2 4K 60HZ with HDR support -Comes with hardware to mount the sound bar to the wall. -Useful LCD display in the center of the sound bar. -Amazing atmos experience without have to mount speakers to your ceiling -Rear speakers connect directory to subwoofer -Remote is very useful; it is backlit, has lots of buttons and controls at your finger tips -Great main stage audio (Center, left, right) -Good rear surround speakers that can be mounted horizontally to a stand. Cons -This feels more like a 5.1.4 system, as the left and right surround channels aren't very noticeable IMO. The HDMI cables have to bend pretty significantly to be plug into the ports, but I guess if you mount it to the wall, it makes sense -Subwoofer could be louder, would be better if it was a front or side facing subwoofer rather than bottom facing. -No way to expand the system with more subwoofers or more speakers. -Takes way too long to switch HDMI inputs, especially compared to an AV receiver nowadays. -Takes up to 5 seconds for audio to start playing (after video is already displayed) when you switch inputs on the sound bar. Most of the cons are netpicking with my standards coming from my dedicated audio system. Overall this is a great system for those who don't have space or the infrastructure for a dedicated home theater set up.

Sad, NO sound from read speakers or subwoofer. Soundbar is great. Was told "NOT" to use Nalamichi remote. Maybe it can be corrected, but isn't that why I had B.B. install it!

One of the worst pieces of AV hardware that I have bought. Do not buy. Go with the traditional brands. Glitchy, Can’t switch inputs. Can’t detect inputs and audio is very mediocre.

This sound bar and speakers was a savior for me. It replaced an older Yamaha receiver that suddenly started shorting out even the most expensive HDMI cables. I’m not really an audio snob and I didn’t want to buy and set up a new receiver. A friend (who IS an audio snob) suggested this Nakamichi. Even though he returned his last year for reasons I can’t even begin to comprehend, he knew I would like and he was right! So easy to set up and the sound is great especially from the rear speakers. Five stars is a no-brainer for this item.

20 years ago I used to have an impressive Yamaha component setup with huge towers and an impressive center channel and rear speaker. Then I had children and I never got a chance to crank it up because it was too loud for kids or it would wake up the house. (Sleep is paramount with babies!) I eventually sold all of it and just used a small Vizio soundbar - you know, something that was just a little better than the TV speakers and that's about it. Now that my kids are staying up later than I do, I decided to enjoy my movies again. But since I am also older and no longer care about the impressive appearance of a rack system, nor do I want to mess with wires - I wanted a super simple setup. I found this soundbar from online reviews and "shootouts" For the features I wanted, the price was sweet spot and the reputation of the company convinced me to make this my choice. I had it delievered to my door sooner than the estmate and inside was everything you need. On the off chance you have any issues, they have a pretty good support forum and a top notch customer service. You can actually talk to a real person, not a bot. The best thing I can say about this is that I almost wish I future proofed myself and got the 9.2 version. I don't regret buying this one at all though.

I knew this was one of the best sound systems and I researched a lot before buying this but finally decided to buy Nakamichi itself and I am pleased with my purchase. The sound quality is amazing and was able to setup it very quickly. The greatest part about the system is it is completely wireless and it sounds great in wireless mode too but it need to be tuned based on the room. Remote has great options to finetune different settings. Love my purchase.

I have 2018 Samsung qled8 ARC is not working with this system! You can follow instructions provided by Nakamichi but it's just not working. I finished 100 times disconnecting hdmi and unplugging it from power, resetting etc. All for nothing. No Dolby, just PCI and system not responding to TV remote or no sound!

I got it on a deal during the week of Black Friday and couldn’t have chosen a better time. I did a lot of research before narrow down on the Nakamichi soundbar. I decided on the 7.2.1 because of my basement size and sound coming from the soundbar is exceptional. I set it up ALL stereo and soundbar and subwoofer producing amazing sound.

    Nakamichi Great sound, great price!

I am giving the Nakamichi 7.1 Soundbar system a 5. I arrived at this number by taking into consideration Price The cost was very reasonable so I took a chance on this system. Once I got it connected, I was amazed at the quality of sound for the price (I was looking for a Soundbar to connect to an older LG TV that still relied on an optical connection). Sound The sound was rich and full, with great speration. Setup It took about 30 minutes to setup using some existing speakers stands that I had. I will be upgrading to a new tv some time next year and can't wait to connect it using ARC, the sound should be incredible. If your on a budget this sound bar system is worth looking at and listening to when your out shopping. I think you'll be happy with this system.

Bought this system to replace my regular home theater system. I have to say I was extremely disappointed with thus sound bar, the sound was mediocre at best. Also the sub would frequently drop out. Ended up returning it. Also the lack of on screen menus makes setting up the device annoying.

I bought this soundbar looking for a Dolby Atoms capable soundbar with Height cannels. This soundbar got great reviews online so I decided to give it a try. I will say that I had a couple issues at first. Surround sound and subwoofer issues. However their customer service was very helpful. Firmware update fixed it all. With the newest firmware my soundbar sounds amazing. If you have any issues with surround sound or the subwoofer please contact them. With the newest firmware and making sure your Wifi is not on the same channel as the subwoofer you will be amazed how this sounds. I am definitely happy with my purchase. Do not be discourage by my initial issues. All I needed was a firmware update and to change my wifi router channel. It was defintely worth the troubleshooting. Plus their customer service was great. Buy this soundbar. You will not be disappointed.

I did a lot of research by reading blogs, reviews and watching videos about which sound system I wanted to pair with my 75” Samsung QLED 8K TV. I spent thousands on the TV and assumed I would have to spend thousands again for a quality Sound system to match. So happy I did the research and trusted the experts because they all pointed to the Nakamichi 7.1 Shockwafe. I was so surprised to see it was well under my anticipated budget and the sound quality is excellent! Super easy to setup, loaded with all the features I wanted in order to have immersive sound and when I had a question, their customer service was so helpful and fast to respond. I couldn’t be happier and I highly recommend getting this system.

This was my first ever full 7.1 surround system so I researched the market fairly intensely before settling on this Nakamichi Soundwafe Pro 7.1 surround system. PROS: 1) Exceptional customer service and GREAT informative support articles to setup and troubleshoot issues with the system. 2) Bluetooth (wireless) subwoofer which allows placement anywhere in the room, within reasonable Bluetooth signal range. 3) Fantastic sound quality and great range of configuration options to suit pretty much any environment. 4) Having the option of specifying a Bluetooth source means that I can pair my cellphone with the surround system and stream music through it without turning the TV on - MAJOR plus. 5) Great remote with all options on it AND it's backlit. CONS: (not major) 1) There are no stands supplied with the satellite speakers but they can be found easily online - just make sure to get stands that have cord concealment abilities. 2) Again re the satellite speakers, they must be hard wired to the subwoofer so wherever the subwoofer is located, so must the satellite speakers but this is not a major deal and the supplied cords to go from the satellite speakers to the subwoofer are very long (at least 10-15 feet each). Overall, I am extremely pleased with my Nakamichi surround sound system!

I am amazed by how great this soundbar is. I own a Vizio soundbar that I have been using for my bedroom tv. I also had a Harmon Kadon that I used with my old tv. My living room Television and the Harmon Kadon soundbar were fried by lightning strike, so I I purchased a new Samsung Q70 TV and went with this Nakamichi Sounbar due the outstanding reviews. I am so glad that I did. The Harmon Kadon was a nice Soundbar but this Nakamichi is in a league of it's own! I tried out the Atmos (there was a blue ray demo disc that came with the bar). Whoa! It sounds like you are really there, like it sounds as if it's actually raining, to where I had to look out of the window to make sure it wasn't lol. Or the 747 takeoff... like you are on the runway. The bass of this setup is outstanding. If I have another lightning strike fry my electronics I'm definitely getting another Nakamichi.

Best soundbar system I have had. Sounds great, atmos actually works. Has my dogs looking around during movies on a regular basis. The bass is incredible, super emersive and does not upset the neighbors. It is easy to set up. Really enjoy being able to save settings, makes it great for switching from TV and movies to music. The stereo to surround upconversion is really quite good. I am totally impressed with Nakamichi right now.
