Nakamichi — The New Leader in Advanced Sound

I was shopping for a new soundbar to complement my new 4K projector. I had purchased a Nakamichi soundbar a few years ago and loved the great sound and power! So I was delighted they had a new version with 1300 watts of power and with a 9.2.4 channel configuration. But the best part is, it has all the latest tech specs to bring every movie and music to life: Bluetooth, ULTRA 9.2 eARC, Dolby Atmos, Dolby Vision, the latest DTS…4KHDR and HDR10 and with incredible highs and lows! No need for a Sonos or a Bose…or an AVR!

My remote control to turn the system on or off does not work anymore. I called the company and tried to get some help and the person I talked too said I did not know what I was doing. My son set the system up for me he knows how to do it. Never again with Nakamichi.

Incredible Sound Quality and Sleek Design!

I recently purchased the Nakamichi Shockwafe Ultra 9.2.4 Soundbar, and it has completely transformed my home audio experience! From the moment I set it up, I was blown away by the rich, clear sound. The bass is deep without being overwhelming, and the treble is crisp and well-balanced, making both music and movie dialogue crystal clear. Setting it up was incredibly easy and the design is sleek and modern. What really impressed me was the surround sound effect. It fills the room with immersive sound, and the volume never distorts, no matter how high I crank it up. If you’re looking for a soundbar that delivers top-notch sound quality, easy setup, and a stylish look, I can’t recommend this enough! Worth every penny.

    A new Nakamichi Shockwafe fan!

I used to be a Bose fan. When I 1st hooked up my Nakamichi Shockwafe 9.2.4 Ch 1300-watt Soundbar System, I was amazed on how much the two 10-inch woofers added to my pleasure in movies and music!!! I also thought 4 surround speakers were probably unnecessary, but they are awesome. Whether it's theater-like surround sound in a movie or "All Speaker Stereo," with music, I find myself lost in the effects. My past love for Bose is gone. The: "No Highs, No Lows It Must Be Bose" saying is so true. Now I have those two 10 inchers pounding out Base like I've never heard before! I love the Shockwafe 9.2.4 system! It shakes the whole house! The only thing I can think of I would change if I could is: the wired surround speakers, plugged into the wireless Sub-Woofers. All wireless would be nice. But did I mention it only took 10 minutes to set it up? Everything you need is in the box and there's a 5-foot by 1-foot quick start guide. That's the first thing you see when you open the box. Then every question you could have is in the booklet of detailed directions. If all that is not enough, Nakamichi has the best customer service I've ever used by phone or chat! Now if I'm home, and awake, you will know it by the thumping base or crystal-clear music, you can hear from inside your car when you pull into my driveway.

    A Little Reality

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

First off, let's get real. The 9.2.4 1300 watt earc Shockwafe is NOT a sonic miracle machine. If the MP3 you're playing was originally recorded from an LP (like one MP3 I was recently listening to) and has pops and clicks in it from the LP recording, nothing short of an AI revolution can fix it. And trying to use a 9 channel surround sound system to play 2 channel digital sound isn't going to sound like you're in the middle of a live concert either. While the Shockwafe does have some settings to make 2 channel music sound pretty darn good, you do need to temper your expectations just a tad. One thing to remember: garbage in, garbage out! In addition, keep in mind this system runs on RF frequencies. Meaning if you're running a WIFI router, a wireless keyboard, a wireless mouse, and a wireless gaming joystick in close proximity to the main unit, chances are the RF will interfere in some manner. Also, you need to make sure you have a clear path between the main soundbar and the satellite woofers. Failure to heed this advice is going to lead to dropouts, pops, and other noise as well. What this thing can actually do, when set up correctly and with a good quality input, is produce amazing sound. I just got done watching the Christopher Nolan masterpiece 'Oppenhiemer' in 4k. Without giving too much away, at one point the shockwafe literally made the room shake while watching this movie. DVD's fell off the shelf under my 4k TV, and the wireless keyboard sitting on an arm on my recliner fell off and crashed to the ground. My response was very simple, "Oh My God!". And that was with the volume set to '20' on the soundbar. The rest of the movie wasn't that bad either, the voices were clear as a bell and the surround made you feel like you were in the middle of the movie scene. And don't believe what some reviews tell you about this needing to be in a cavernous living room to work either. This system is flexible enough to fit most size rooms, and still sound like a movie theatre. My satellite speakers are between 3-5' away from me, and it still sounds awesome. Don't believe the haters. This soundbar system is as good as any out there. Just don't expect literal miracles, and you'll be really happy. I know I am.

The only thing i didnt like about it is when i got my package the box looks filthy, there is a lot of holes and the tape thats holding the box has no stick to it anymore. When i opened the box theres a lot of dirt and gravel inside my speakers and i had to clean them before setting it up. Its been pretty beat up. Theres a lot of cracking noise on my surround speakers maybe because of how it got delivered? Im so disapponted.

I finally jumped the gun after months of watching reviews on this system. Let me just say, I should have done it as soon as I heard about it. The sound this system gives is phenomenal!! Literally feels like you’re at the movies. The setup is really simple as well. Took me, maybe, about an hour and that was only because I kept changing my mind on where I wanted the speakers placed. It really is an amazing system with some true power. If you’re a movie lover like myself, I say jump the gun and get it. You wont regret it.

    Best soundbar system period

Been playing with the 9.2 eARC for over 10 days now, reason I did not post a review sooner because I couldn't believe my ears. The system looks 90%+ identical to my old 9.2. The sound on the new one is crazy good. I couldn't believe what I am hearing. Took a few days to A B both systems and here are my thoughts: -It is louder, clearer and bass is at a different level -In terms of surround, it is much more immersive and directionality has improved significantly. Yes, you heard it right, I thought my old 9.2 was badass but this is a whole new level. - I went back and forth between the beginning car chase scene of Underground 6, Underworld awakening, U571 Depth Charged, Super 8 Train scene, Hellboy 2 Forest monster scene, Ford vs Ferrari and Edge of tomorrow bass scanning intro scene. Bass is incomparable with the new subs being truly something you can feel. As you go from 5-10, you can clearly hear the improvement of the fear invoking low frequencies -The old system's music playback is average at best, the new one sounds completely different, I tested it with everything from Hip Hop, bossa nova, pop, opera, jazz to classical, will say music an absolute joy to listen to and is on par with surround Although pricey, It is worth every penny as I intend to keep it for a few years like my old 9.2. Hope this helps!

    Impressive Soundbar System

This is a very solid soundbar system. It has three HDMI inputs, one HDMI eARC input, usb, optical & coax digital inputs, and a 3.5mm stereo input. It does Dolby Atmos and DTS-X, among others, and also all channel stereo which is nice to hear music from all the speakers and subs. I was really impressed with the amount of bass it puts out and how loud it can get. The surround effects are good, and I would recommend putting the side and surround speakers a little higher on the wall for best effect. It would have been nice if those speakers were truly wireless, but for the price, it is hard to beat.

Great soundbar surround system purchase and your best alternative if you don't want to pay thousands upon thousands for a full on sound high quality surround system with similar capabilities of Dolby Atmos, eArc, etc. Excellent sound to cost ratio Has a premium look unlike many other soundbars Excellent connectivity options with the HDMI inputs all running HDMI 2.2. Easy installation! Comes with everything you need including speaker brackets. Absolutely solid wireless connection between the main bar and subs. Literally no lag or dropouts.

The Soundbar Experience I’ve Waited For!

    Posted .

I’ve owned a lot of soundbars and the vast majority of them are very underwhelming. The last 3 I’ve owned (Vizo Elevate, LG S95QR & Bose 900 w/ Bass Module) were actually great and I honestly was very happy with them until…. When I first setup the Nakamichi Shockwave Ultra 9.2.4ch system I was blown away with the guides telling you exactly what settings should be selected on the devices you are connecting to the sound system. The obviously take the time to see what products work well with the soundbar and give you the proper settings to make the whole installation process simple and actually enjoyable. All I have to say is once the setup is complete and you fire that system up with your favorite music, movies or just normal TV. You will understand & hear the difference that Nakamichi is in the Soundbar audio space. Nothing comes close to overall sound profile and immersion you will feel listening to audio through the Shockwave 9.2.4!! Highly highly recommended and if your not sure, just buy it and stop wasting your time thinking about buying anything else.

The finish of the product is excellent, setup easy, sound phenomenal and aftercare amazing! See Atoms supporting content, and you are right in the middle of the action! The SSE technology gives you all the elevation effects, worth every penny. This system is also the most adjustable system to your needs since you can control the surround sound and the rear sound among center and LR channels. Their customer care team is phenomenal.

Fantastic soundbar with great sour round sound features and Dolby Atmos capabilities! I bought this soundbar system as I was looking for an out-of-the-box home theater system setup that had all the features I wanted and the Nakamichi Soundwafe 9.2.4 did NOT disappoint! My recommendation would definitely be to get familiar with the manual first as getting the customization right is key to great acoustics depending on your space. The setup is extremely easy and the subwoofers provide great bass range. Overall, I would highly recommend purchasing this home theater system. 5/5 stars.

    Fantastic System, Incredible Support

This soundsystem is incredible, but the customer support is even better! I had a mishap, where I tripped and fell into one of my subwoofers (I'm clumsy). One of the cords leading to the rear surround speakers broke off inside the port. Not only was I able to quickly get a replacement part, but Nakamichi made a video for me to show me how to replace it. I've had other questions tech related, and they always answer immediately and are very helpful. Based out of San Jose. Pretty much the only tech company now that has good customer support. The remote is awesome and makes maximizing the quality of my soundbar pretty easy. I can quickly switch between different modes depending on if I am watching a movie, music, sports, etc. It is very easy to adjust the settings of the soundbar using the remote, it's just important to read the user manual to fully understand the capabilities. One thing that's nice is that I can adjust the lip sync directly on the soundbar. I find some older shows/movies the lip sync is a bit off, and I can now fix that easily. I don't really have any complaints at this point. This system is so loud, that I've never had the volume above 30/100. I can't even imagine how loud it would be. Usually, I have the volume on 12/100, and it completely fills the room. I live on 10 acres, otherwise this soundsystem would probably be causing issues with neighbors. Definitely not an appropriate soundsystem for an apartment or houses that are close together, unless you have soundproofing.
