I have had others similar to this and they all lasted longer than the all plastic coated Apple cord. All of them eventually wear out by the end that plugs into the product.

The ends that are used to plug and unplug are solid. I hope that it prooves to last a long time, not fault out like cheaper versions. Also, the snap feature is very nice because I can wrap it nicely to put into my center compartment and not leave it laying out in my car when not in use.
