This seemed the same as others by this group and did not really speak to me.

Daughter bought video It its too childish for her age and that of my other children.

This is a classic that belongs in any anime fans video library. Nausicaa is set many centuries in the future. A devastating war has left Earth a wastland and creatures called Ohmus have become the dominant species. Nausicaa, the heroine, is a young princess who can communicate with animals and even calm the Ohmu, she also believes it is possible for Humanity and the Ohmu to share the world peacefully. The movie follows Nausicaa's adventure as her tiny kingdom gets caught up in a war between two empires and she tries to restore peace and bring about some kind of balance. Nausicaa is a message movie, but it does not pound you over the head with its message as so many message movies do. Miyazaki takes a more subtle approach, which makes the movie much more enjoyable than if he'd used the 'sledgehammer' approach to getting his point across. The animation still holds up. This is an excellent example of cel animation. All of the movements are fluid and natural looking and everything is well drawn. The mecha design is great, I love how those sky battleships look! The character designs are all engaging and distinctive looking. If you are familiar with Hayao Miyazaki's style, you know what to expect. The Blu-Ray transfer is flawless. Everything is in clear focus and the details come out beautifully. Yet another great Blu-Ray experience from Disney. One feature I liked in the extras was a short documentary on the history of Nausicaa. There's also an interactive portion with a simple hidden objects game based on the worlds of Ghibli films. The English cast includes Patrick Stewart, one of the most brilliant actors of our generation. And, ironically enough, this illustrates a problem with dubbing. In this movie, Patrick Stewart is limited by having to follow another actor's performance, so it's hard for him to really put his own performance into his role. Sadly, a brilliant actor is not allowed to do his best work. If Patrick Stewart is constrained, imagine a performance from an actor who is not blessed with Patrick Stewart's talents (which, let's be honest here, most dubs do not have the best actors). Watching Nausicaa in Japanese is much more satisfying. You get to see the movie as it was meant to be seen. Don't be afraid of the subtitles, reading subtitles and watching the movie is much easier than you think. This is one of Ghibli's finest. If you are an anime fan, you owe it to yourself to see Nauisicaa.

If you get the above reference then you've been around for a while. I first was exposed to this anime when it was known by a different name. When I was older I watched the proper version of it. It's a Ghibli movie, so if you're a fan, you're most likely going to like it. And also, if you really know Ghibli movies, you'll know most Ghibli movies actually aren't targeted at kids (if you really think about it, Mononoke, Nausicaa and the like aren't exactly kid-friendly themes). Anyway, get it, enjoy it.

This movie is from the creators of Princess Mononoke, should I say more? The story flows really well and the characters are full of personality, it is true that the graphics look a little old but the quality of the plot and images are second to none. Good anime that has transcended time, and even when the story came to be as a movie by mid 80's the message it gives is still very current. I saw this movie 15 years ago and now I own it in Blue Ray and the difference in colors is impressive, even compared to the DVD version

This is a story for both male and female children and young adults. It has important messages about family and tradition, and mans relationship to nature. The animation is firist rate and it is a big story that never gets boring.

Though it is a DVD so that's not much of a surprise. I love this movie and until about a month ago, I've only been able to watch it in 240p on Google Video, but now that I have this, I can watch it the way it was meant to be watched! Amazing story, atmosphere, characters, world, music, etc. This movie truly is Miyazaki's epic masterpiece.

This is a must own film for the entire family. I have seen it over and over again and i never get bored. There is a great meaning behind this movie.

If you just want a solid action-adventure without as heavy-handed an environmental message, then Nausicaa is a solid choice, as the fantasy setting blends well with the subtle message regarding environmental protection and coexistence with nature. The film's quality is perfectly retained on the superior format, and the improved sound quality will delight entertainment buffs who have extensive sound system setups.

What can i say but a great adventure movie the whole family can enjoy. You can be easily swept away by the world that was created in thia movie and forget your own.

This is a great story for all ages. The characters are charming and Nausicaa commands your attention throughout the movie with not only her beauty but her kindness and intelligence.
