Once again NBA 2K has made a superior basketball sim title this year. I can say this from the perspective of playing both, and I am a hardcore basketball fan/gamer. EA's Live this year gets the award for best visual display, I have to admit that, but you can get a pretty picture from a nice camera, that doesn't make a great game. What NBA 2K8 lacks in the area of the player/coach models it more definitively makes up for with excellent gameplay, addtional features this year like the dunk contest and 3pt shootout (which are less complicated and more fun to me than LIVE's), an extremely deep franchise mode, and fluid player movement with great physics. The crowd reactions are on point with gameflow(appropriate cheers and boos), the commentation is much better this year. Gamewrap up lets you look at top plays, and individual highlights from EVERY player that played that game. And OMG the dunks on this game are so ILL!!! The superstars play to their ability, but other players can kill you too in any given game if left unguarded, (i.e. Radmonivic). The AI is very challenging, and tough to beat even on the lower settings. You have to run plays and play to the strength of the team you are using or get murdered by the CPU. I do get annoyed at the number of blown layups on the game and the fact that its almost impossible to draw a charge. Ref always calls blocking. Sliders on the game can help adjust this though. I am extremely satisfied with this year's version, and if next year will be any kind of improvement, I am scared of it. Must buy for die hard fans. GO CELTICS!!!!

My son just bought this PS3 game. First, it was nice to finally find a game worthy of the PS3 and our HD 1080p technology! GREAT GRAPHICS! Frankly, I don't even play the games anymore but my 16 year old is a skilled (and critical) gameplayer. He loves it and the on-line competitions. For me, I've never paid attention to other sports games he's owned. This one has me glued to the action as if it's a REAL NBA game. The action and play-by-play commentary truly create the sense of a real NBA contest. It's fun to watch!!! It must be even more of a thrill to be part of the action on the controller (if this 50 year old could master it like a teen). Still, the game is great for those on the court and those of us on the sidelines!!! You'll rarely hear ME saying this about ANY computer games: BUY IT !

I was thinking hard about either getting NBA 08, NBA LIVE 08, or 2k8. I am definitly glad I chose 2k8. The graphics are absolutly amazing. I like all the extra stuff this game has, like a very deep and complex franchise mode, dunking contest, street ball games, rookie contests, and more. But to me, graphics are the entire reason I got the PS3, and this actually got me thinking that I was watching basketball on TV. The faces are dead on. Kobe looks exactly the same on the game, and the signature moves of playes are in the game. Nash has no look passes, Allen Iverson's regular shot is a deep fade away. This game has such a great flow and has great commentary. This just has a great authentic feel and although I haven't played NBA 08 or NBA LIVE 08, the reviews aren't as good as 2k8 nor can I imagine them being a better basketball game! BUY IT!!

I purchased this game when it first came out into stores and it was a hard decision between 2k8 and Live 08. After reading others comments on this game I decided to try it out and see if they were right. To my amazement, everyone was right about the gameplay. Awesome is and understatement. My friend has NBA Live 08 and he has called me numerous times to come over and play 2k8. The controls are a little hard to get use to but after you master them it is the best basketball simulation out right now. The trademark moves from NBA stars like Steve Nash and Allen Iverson are identical to what you see on tv. It is cool to do the no look passes with Steve Nash that you see him do in actual games. All in all this is the best NBA game out right now and I would highly recommend this game to anyone in the market for a "Realistic" simulation game.

NBA Live 08 can't even compare to 2k8. They added & fixed tons of animations. They also added a 3 point contest and dunk contest this year. It is fun but a little difficult to learn. It will take some practice before you can actually do some sick dunks. You can place objects like dunking over a car, a chair, etc....My only problem with the game is cloth system. Sometimes it gets distorted and it will flip inside out but its not as often. A.I. is smarter than last years. They adjust a lot of times so you have to keep making them guess if not they can read your plays. This is a good game I give it 8.3 out of 10. If they fix the minor issues it would have been a 9 out of 10 for me.

I have been playing this game since the first day it came out, what an incredible game. Mostly everything is onpoint. In my opinion, I think this game is outdoing EA's number 1 sports game, and we all know what it is. I was playing online the other day and over 1,200 people was online. I happen to put my Madden game in and it had less than 1,000 people online. All i have to say is watch out EA because NBA 2K8 is taking over the next gen. sports world. I am addicted to this game and you will be too if you buy it.

This is the best most realistic basketball simulation on the market, hands down. Not the greatest graphics, says 1080p, more like 720p max output :-(. Overall cool game with serious replay value, and life-like gaming experience. If you are a REAL graphics hound, check out LIVE 08, not as cool of gameplay as this title though.

You have to buy this game if you love bball simulations. I bought this title soon after it came out and I am still playing it every chance I get! The games play smooth, the graphics are top notch, and the players move like you would expect in real life. It is truly a pleasure to play and enjoy! A must have for true bball fans!

I've been a NBA Live fan since the game has been out but have been disapointed for the last 2 years. This year i made the switch to 2K8 and i can honestly say i'll never play Live again. The game play is so smooth and the graphics are awesome... it's like watching a really basketball game. A PS3 must have game!!

I have played NBA2K8, NBA 2008 and NBA live 2008. NBA 2K8 is easily the best of the three. Signature player moves, great gameplay, and lots of extra game modes (dunk contests, practices, 3 on 3, franchise) make this the better buy between the threee games. It also helps to have a 50" plasma tv ;) 5 stars!!

2k has established it's foothold on the top of basketball games..again. This game is awesome! If you enjoy real sim hoops this game is for you. The game play is as close to real as I've ever seen. The online play is where you are going to spend most of your time. Stay away from Live and NBA 08.

AN An AWWWWWWWWWSOME game!!!!! You may not be used to it at first becase there are some minor changes but good cahnges to the game. if your used to 2k7 but its a good cahnge so get used to the gameplay and your start having fun.

the graphix have definetly got better and i love the dunk contest unlike live 07 u can use obstacles. the one downside is if you hold down l2 at certain times the computer will start defending for you. gr8 game get it NOW!!!!!

The last basketball game I bought was back in 1998, and now 10 years later I decided to give it a try. The game play is smooth, but it takes awhile to get used to. For instance, free throws using the SIXAXIS is a bit troublesome, but you can change that to analog stick. Managing your team's roster and chemistry makes the game very fun and competitive. Online leagues are fun only if you join a serious league. Otherwise, prepare for a LONG season. My only complaint would be the menu. Trying to navigate through the menu gets annoying and it's uncomfortable.

Really AWSOME game!! Graphics and presentations are top notch. This is a great basketball game. Be prepared for a little longer learing curve to get comfortable. Best basketball game I've ever played by far!!

I don't normally review products, and don't claim to be an expert on video games. That being said..... This game I think is good for the money. I was a little disappointed with the graphics quality compared to some others, but you get used to it. What I really don't like is the menu setup. It seems very user unfriendly. Other than that, I do find myself playing it often. Its a fun game, and for the price It's a good choice.

I read everyone elses reviews to see that everyone thought the graphics were amazing. Maybe it was just the one I bought, but I thought I was playing a PS2 game, and no, it was the PS3. It was also very choppy graphics and the crowd and players were very unrealistic. Nobody looked anything like who they really were unless the camera was far away. The crowd looked horrible and all were very choppy as well. Their faces were not smooth and there arms looked like long triangles. I was really dissappointed. I thought, after everything I heard, and played in the demo, that it was going to be a great game, but I was wrong. Maybe it was just the one I bought. I did return it to the store because of all the issues. Some of the other issues I had were when I did the slam dunk contest, I used Clyde Drexler and his pants kept showing up missing and there would be legs, cloth blowing in the wind on one side and a big blank spot near the waist.

This game is the best basketball game out. Great for repeat plays.
