Computer info transfer and set up
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Geek agent was to set up new MacBook Air, however, soon after agent left, spent 2 hours on phone with Apple “really” getting it set up. Geek agent left a lot of loose ends during our home appointment which necessitated a call to Apple because my calls to the Geek Squad resulted in no help or advice other than to make ANOTHER appointment.

problems with setting up new computer

The new computer I purchased would not accept a jack-in speaker, and neither the salesperson nor the Geek Squad guy knew this. Then I had to order a bluetooth speaker and get a second Geek Squad follow-up visit, and it took me two weeks to figure out some simple things about the new configuration the tech person set up and could have explained but didn't.

Not setup

Geek squad is terrible

We scheduled the set up but “Alex” called at 7:50pm night prior & left a voice mail that they cancelled. We called back twice but went straight to voice mail. Left a message but no call back until yesterday afternoon, after we complained to Best Buy. It has not been rescheduled.

Unacceptable

However, when I spent time on my intial order to go over a couple details that are important to us, those were not conveyed to him. I ask for the same cable routing to my TV in the wall so the wires are hidden. He was not equipped or comfortable handling the task so he did what he could and told me to call installations. I called Geek Squad because I wanted a professional job, I could have picked up the computer at the store and been in business last week if I wanted exposed wires. So I spoke to no less than 4 people to get ANOTHER installation scheduled. What added to the frustration was each time I was ask for a call back number" in case we are disconnected" and the 2 calls that dropped no one called back. I was so frustrated I called the store wanting to speak to a manager. I was told they were occupied, to leave a call back " I promise within 2 hours someone will call" that is going on 3 hours. Not a happy camper at the moment. Mostly due high expectations, low outcome. Vince Sapero

I never thought to take any pictures.

I never touched the screen so never got to learn how it worked for me. I should have tried to do this myself to get the feel of this new computer and done some searching for my other programs which didn't workout easily,

Rotten Experience

After his visit we have issues with our printer, keyboard, photos. Brusque tone. Little interaction. As of today nothing has been fixed. A new Tech is scheduled today to try to get us back up with our systems.

Geek squad failure to set new computer properly.

He was supposed to set up the computer and transfer all the information from my old one to the new one. He seemed frustrated that it would take too much time although I have VERY little on it. He couldn't transfer the information so that it would open correctly and just dumped everything into one folder and couldn't get them open correctly and said he had to leave. I was explicit when purchasing it telling the agent that I would need to be shown how to use the new one and be able to find the files. and open them. He was courteous and nice but wasn't able to do the basic work other then connecting it up and set up an appointment with another agent for weeks later. VERY DISSAPPOINTED

Geek Squad is a joke

He tried saying that it was my internet but no it was just him wanting to leave. He wasn’t even here for a whole hour. Total waste of money.
