Its ok of you want to fake looking like you know how to run a camera. This is a point and shoot with no control over aperture or shutter speed. Returned it. The zoom is insanely long, but buy an 80.00 point and shoot, or use your phone. Don't do this to yourself. Its also heavy and bulky, for no reason. Like I said it's a point and shoot. I replaced this with a cannon powershot 540 HS at a cheaper price point. That camera has auto features for a beginner and also has options to control aperture (though the f stop goes only from about 3 to 8, where you would reach f22 on a DSLR; and shutter speed when you want to dip into more creative shots. It's more advanced but not overwhelming. It also has a killer 50x zoom. Just don't. For the size and weight to functionality it's a hard pass. Two stars because it does what it says (even though its lame) and the zoom really is incredible.

Really clear nice pictures! Great to take pictures outdoors. And love how you can change the lighting.

Bought this camera as a replacement for the coolpix camera I own because of intermittent errror codes. Love the extreme zoom on this camera, the ability to use faster "film" speed for use in low light situations. It's easy to handle too. Really glad that I had purchased this particular. Great job Nikon for an excellent camera.
