Disappointed...
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased the P900 a few years ago and absolutely love that camera. Was missing easy to use manual functions found on my DSLR. After studying the P1000 with RAW, Manual Ring, Extended time exposure, I decided going for a 50% higher zoom. After field testing both day and night features, I have been very disappointed. The focus quality of the P900 is not there and the quality of the images does not compare. I plan to return this when I return to town next week. Was hoping for and expecting so much more out of this camera. I guess its back to my bigger lenses with the DSLR and of course my P900!

Love it.

Day 26 of "two weeks" for repair. Disappointing.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought the P1000 for birding and general enjoyment. When you push the shutter button down half way the image is razor sharp. When you complete pushing the shutter button the image is very blurry. It was mounted on a tripod with the Nikon wired remote so there wasn't any movement. I tried it with both stabilization on and off. Sent it off to repair with Geek Squad (3 years of protection) and they have had it for 26 days with no updates and the "tracking" number doesn't even work. Very disappointed.

Good over all camera.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Is a good starter camera. Dont have to worry about having different lens. Has a good mix of more dsrl/mirrowless like settings,so you can learn how to use aperture and shutter speed modes. Has crazy zoom. I mean i can be at a outlook on a mountain and read letters off the side of planes at the airport 6 miles away. One warning though is its really unrealistic to think your going to take good photos at its max zoom of super far objects. Atmospheric conditions just don't allow for that. Anywhere between 24-700mm though it well take good sharp photos. Another warning is get the best warranty you can because no one besides nikon well work on point and shoot cameras.

Reach yes, photo quality poor
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A camera I wanted to like for shooting birds, waterfowl, animals, etc. Sadly the image quality is disappointing, especially compared to any m4/3 or dslr camera. Yes, it's all about the zoom, but as one goes up in reach, the quality of the photo drops fast. This is not a good choice for travel or hiking and certainly not one for family use and trying to shoot the kids. The small sensor does poorly in anything except full sun. Forget indoor shooting as it's a lesson in frustration due to small sensor not getting enough light. When you view any pictures at full size 100%, the poor quality is very apparent. I tried to like it, but it's only good for non moving subjects in very good light and one must accept the poor image quality. I printed a 12x16" photo and the smearing of detail is very apparent. I returned it. Lots of used P1000 cameras for sale on eBay and that's telling me people are not happy.

Very Disappointed
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Stopped working after using it on just four occasions. I am very disappointed after spending all that money, and now I'm stuck with an expensive camera that doesn't work. I must say, though, the zoom was amazing.

ALREADY AVAILABLE AT NIKON USA SITE
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Best Buy is so slow, I saw this popping up at Nikon USA for same price, I just ordered mine and shipped immediately. Still showing SOLD OUT on Best Buy's website, simply terrible, this Best Buy store is, no wonder their business is going down the tubes.
