I bought this camera because I needed a new digital camera to take to concerts and other events (instead of bringing my huge nikon). Last weekend I went to a concert and used my camera for the first time and it is amazing! The zoom is unbelievable and the quality of the audio on the videos I took were fantastic. I also love how the screen flips out so I can take pictures of myself and friends or even vlog with it.

    So glad I waited!!!

So glad I waited to get this camera and didn't get the previous model. The viewer that twists around is wonderful to have - makes taking pictures much easier, especially without a viewfinder. I took pictures of the moon the other night and could not believe how close and clear the moon looked. It was just as if I had looked at the moon with a telescope. The extra fine zoom is what made the moon so close. Can't wait to use it for more than just the almost full moon and our dogs!

Not as good as prior Nikons. Worse than disposable

I have owned multiple Nikons over the years. My s9600 died so I naturally purchased the s9900. It is much worse. The flash is a flimsy thing that requires you to push a button for it to stick up and then if you select red eye reduction mode the flash dose a slow sync. The flash does not go back down on its own so you have to fold it into the camera. It feels so fragile when doing that I am afraid it will snap in two. The camera in auto indoors picks around iso 400 and things turn out blurry. When outside, even using a flash, people look orange no matter how many times I adjust the camera. I never have this problem with the 8200 or 9600. When you goto crop photos you will see one thing prior to selecting ok but the final product does not match what you selected. Moving on to the megapixels, the prior Nikons would let you pick if you wanted 16, 12, 10, 8 or computer. The s9900 jumps from 16 to 8. 16mp takes up a ton of space on a memory card so I prefer 12 or 10 but those options no longer exist. I don't know what the top point and shoots are on the market but the s9900 is proof that nikon will release a camera every year even if the new model is considerably worse than the prior models.

    Great camera with great pictures

My wife was getting ready to go on a business cruise and needed a thin camera that would give good pictures and have an experience similar to an D SLR. This was recommended to us by one of our store employees and they did not steer us wrong. The only complaint that my wife had was that sometimes the pictures did not get taken fast enough and there was some slight blur. She had compared this with a Sony and the Sony did not fit well in the hand. We have several Nikon cameras and added this to the collection.

    Battery Defect...

I love my Nikon pro-am DSLRs but wanted something smaller for a trip a couple of months back and my (Lumix) last point-n-shoot was way long in the tooth and literally falling apart. From the time I've had my S9900, the battery refuses to charge in any kind of normal fashion using the gear which came w/the product. Plug in, either to computer or AC socket; light flashes fast, indicating maybe faulty battery according to manual. Then light goes solid and within 1/2 hour the battery has completely drained itself. Mess around with it some more, maybe it'll charge, maybe not. Have looked around on line but found no solution, can't find my receipt and don't feel like fighting for a return so will look for an alternate battery at my own cost. Frustrating that whenever I want to use the thing, I have to waste time messing with it for hours just to get it to charge (or not#. Camera has lots of features but not always found in intuitive places if you're a NIkon DSLR user. Finding burst mode, for instance, always takes me 10 min of menu-surfing and only then is it available in certain modes #maybe only just shutter-priority or M#. As others have said, the wifi button is, indeed, located so poorly that I constantly activate it by accident. Setting up the wifi/image xfer to mobile was tricky and the app is clunky. I recall it took a while to get it right, but recently was able to use it so that's good. Keep in mind the image size can be quite large so if the goal is to send pix to phone, you can only do so much depending on phone memory. The video quality is pretty good with a minipod, and I was surprised at its ability to track subjects when used hand-held. Photo image quality is sometimes iffy. I hate that, even in full-auto setting on the camera, my iPhone generally produces better colors and white balance than the S9900. Resolution doesn't seem all that great, to me, despite the unit's ability to produce pretty big file sizes. Then again I'm spoiled by DSLR image quality; I'm not sure how this unit's resolution quality measures up to similar models. Because of the battery/charging issue, the S9900 hasn't been a reliable product for me. That's disappointing and will lead me to think twice in future about small NIkon cameras. I'd give it 3 #maybe 4) stars if the charge problem weren't present, but the image quality and usability issues would never warrant a 5, from me.

    Great for Daughter

I got this for my daughter but it did not come with the AC adapter. We did not open the package when first received.....so I'm very upset. I should get all items in this box. It does everything my daughter needs but I need the adapter. This is the second camera I've bought from bb that the adapter did not come in the package.

The camera freeze at the first time I use it. Itdon't power off and the wifi disconnect several times when try to use with the nikon androide app. The flash looks fragile and it is. The only good with this camera is the size altougth it tooks great photos when work. It freeze and never focus again after the second time of use. Don't buy ! --> / Try instead the Nikon Coolpix L840 with AA batteries /

Picture quality is not sharp at all, in fact it's terrible. Also, constantly flipping out the screen each time before shooting was a major pain for a frequent user like me. I couldn't live with this camera for any longer than 24 hours before returning it.
