Customers are saying
Customers are impressed with the COOLPIX W300's camera quality, waterproof and shock-resistant design, and ease of use. Many appreciate its GPS functionality and lightweight, compact size, making it ideal for various outdoor activities. However, some users experienced issues with battery life, and the screen's performance in bright sunlight was criticized. The camera's water resistance is a frequently praised feature, though users should be mindful of potential battery issues.

ok camera
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Takes longer than I'd like to turn on. Action pictures are blurry. Not a good value for the money. Too expensive. And too big and doesn't fit in most cases.

Tough case houses cheap camera
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was swayed by this camera's ability to go to 100' without a housing, and thinking that I'd save some money that way I bought it just prior to a scuba trip. This camera takes such grainy, softly focused pictures that it's no savings at all--my phone takes better pictures so we never use this camera on land. Two years later, and I'm looking for a new camera.

Can I give 0 stars?
||Posted . Owned for more than 2 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought 1st one and thought it was my error water got in charging port while snorkeling. Was mad at myself, bought another and within 3 uses it leaked at the seal and had water damage that fried it in same place. Wasted over $600 and since it was outside of warranty couldnt get it replaced.... I use a waterlroof camera maybe 2, 3 times a year so by time I used it 3rd time... warranty expired. What a waste of money. :(

Use your Smartphone don't buy this junker....
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Possibly the worst camera I've ever owned going all the back to my first brownie. I can't believe for the money it cost how crappy of photos this camera takes. Out of focus, poor lighting capabilities I could go on and on. SAVE YOUR MONEY or use your smartphone ......they definitely take better photos than this piece of junk.

Defective Camera
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really couldn't enjoy the camera because as soon as it placed it in the water and took it out, I saw water had got in. I was devastated, I couldn't use the camera during the whole trip. I hope all the Nikon camera's aren't the same.

Perfect for underwater photo and video
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have taken some amazing underwater pictures and videos with this camera. It's size and durability, insure that I'll always have it ready, when I'm in the water. It's simple to use, and can take a beating. It's also takes amazing pictures out of the water, and has some very cool modes that produce great effects. You won't have the control that you would with a DSLR, but it's a lot easier to carry around.

Broke on Second Use and Nikon Support is Awful
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First of all I want to say that I have been a constant user of Nikon products, I had the Nikon AW130 which was with me constantly diving, hiking and being exposed to the elements. Probably one of the best cameras I have ever owned. Unfortunately, the new W300 is not on the same level as that camera. I purchased it and set it all up in m y house before a diving trip. Full battery and new sim card, it was not opened again in humidity or on the boat. The seal was properly shut. I know how to care and use this product from my use of the older version, so this is not my first time with their waterproof cameras. On the second dive I got a warning message saying 'battery overheating camera turning off'. As well as this condensation was inside the screen (remember here I had not opened this camera since sealing it at home). As per the instructions (and as I had done countless times with my AW130 with condensation), I left turned off in a dry area with the seal open for 2 days. Needless to say the camera no longer turned on and I had photos from 1 dive when I was completing 24 that week. I wish I had taken my old camera with me but, as I was so used to that one being indestructible, I thought Nikon would have taken the same care with the new version. Obviously not. The problems do not stop here however. I have submitted multiple questions to Nikon support about my problem, and I get the same response every single time 'any shock damage or water damage is not covered by the warranty'. I then respond that I am not happy with the answer to this question and, without fail, every time it is marked as resolved when it clearly is not. I refuse to accept this as my fault for water damage and, as I have seen, a number of other people have had the same problem with the new version when owning the old version before it with no problems (thus they know how to care for it). If I had messed up and caused the camera to flood I would accept the cost to repair it. As I see literally no way that this was my fault (checking seal before each use etc etc.), Nikon has been consistently wasting my time and not providing adequate answers to questions when asked. I would not be disappointed with the camera if Nikon accepted fault and had it checked out. On the other hand, they are skirting questions and not being helpful at all. I would honestly recommend different underwater cameras even if there is a slight reduction in the performance. It is not worth the hassle, stress and sheer disregard by Nikon to one of there customers. I would not wish the time I have spent on my worst enemy trying to sort this out., it has been horrible.

Jaded Twice!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought the camera once for a wedding in the Philippines and took it to the water once double checking that the latch was securely locked. Two minutes into the water the camera stops taking pictures. I go out and see that the latch somehow opened. Angry I talked to Samsung about manufacturer defects but got nothing. Begrudgingly I buy the same camera cause It was still on sale. It was fine for a year, although I never took it into water. Later, I find a crack in the hull. I never dropped the guy and honestly barely used it. Another vacation comes and I, to test it, try it in water again, and it breaks again. The camera took fine pictures, not alot of amazing features, and low light pics weren't too great but fine. But I'm quite upset this is happening again and thought I should say something to let you know that, despite all the good reviews, you might get jaded too!

Worked great until just past one year warranty
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Received this camera from Best Buy as a birthday gift in May 2016. We opted not to purchase the in-store warranty since the last camera we purchased (a Panasonic) lasted us 4 years and that's about the time for a new one (technology). Imagine our extreme disappointment while on vacation in July 2017 when this camera stopped working, naturally 2 months past the manufacturer's warranty. I contacted Nikon and sent it into their service center for repair, a week later received a call that the camera was irreparable. Called customer service and there's nothing the can do. This is my first experience with Nikon, I've always had Cannon and Panasonic in the past. I WILL NOT be a repeat customer.

Lens broke just after warranty ran out
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very disappointed in this camera. It was never dropped. And just over a year of owning it, now the lens will not work, screen says there is an error, and when the screen does come on, the picture is blurry. Disappointing.

Buyer beware!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this camera for a special birthday trip to Turks and Caicos. The main function I was looking for was it to be water proof. I had lots of snorkeling trips planned and wanted to be able to take lots of pictures in water. THIS CAMERA IS NOT WATER PROOF LIKE IT CLAIMS TO BE!!!! First day I took it in to the water and the camera flooded and didn't turn on or work for the whole trip, a complete disappointment is an understatement when you spend good money on a camera and it doesn't perform like they claim. Sadly all else I had was my phone to take pictures for the rest of my trip :-( Returned the camera with in the 14 day return policy and got my money back. Will not buy again as other reviewers have had the same problem.
