This camera is AMAZING. After much thought, I decided on the D3200 over the 3100. I was concerned about the better deal I was getting as far as the cost, but I'm glad I chose this one. It has alot more MP, upgraded parts, and there are a few more different things, such as the Live View button and where some of the buttons are located. Also, this camera just came out so it is top of the line! This is my first D-SLR ever, and I am IN LOVE. The controls are easy to understand and the book really helps a lot when trying to learn how to use aperture, ISO and shutter speeds correctly. I am a tech person so this shouldn't be too hard for me to learn, but it will take some time since this is my first professional camera. I originally was going to purchase the D3100 because I could get an extra lens, but when I walked into Best Buy, this camera was on sale for $50 cheaper than it was last week, so naturally I got it instead! I highly recommend this camera to anyone who is starting out in photography and wants a nice camera.

Easy to use guides and presets for novices yet all the manual settings for more experienced photographers. It's hard to believe this is an entry level camera. Excellent resolution yielding excellent results. 1200 shots at the NASCAR races (including reviewing taken shots) and still had plenty of battery left. I'm not sure why I bought a spare battery. Comes with very useful software for downloading and editing. I've had this camera for over a month now and I'm still in awe.

This is my first DLSR, and after many trips into shops and endless hours reading reviews it was a toss up between the Nikon and the Cannon Rebel T3i, and i picked this camera purely because i like Nikon and that was what my gut was telling me. I I think when the best thing to do when buying your first camera is to set yourself a budget and choose between Canon and Nikon. It is incredibly confusing if you don't know what you are looking for, and store assistants tend to be a little biased to the brand they prefer. I love this camera, it has a great guide for picking the best mode to have on, clear crisp pictures, so far the battery life is very good, it is comfortable to hold and not heavy. I would defiantly recommend this camera.

Why I Purchase this Camera:
I needed to take good quality pictures with lots of detail to upload onto a website. A difficult task for an amateur photographer, who did not own a camera. I was failing miserably at this task, so I enrolled in a beginner's photography class. The first day of class, I showed up with my friend's point and shoot camera, and quickly realize - I had the wrong type of camera. I needed a DSLR camera for class and for what I was trying to achieve (photography wise).
The Purchase:
With the aid of some classmates, I knew exactly which Canon camera to purchase. However, once I started to test the Canon Camera it felt really heavy and bulky. Then I tried the Nikon D3200, I had a better grip and the camera was much lighter. I asked the Best Buy employee what was the difference between the two brands of camera and there was not much difference. So I decided to go with the Nikon D3200. (No regrets).
P.S. The next day in class, everyone commented how light the camera was and I got a bit worried, but that soon faded away.
Overall performance:
I've basically worked in Manual Mode and found all the features with ease. The quality and clarity of the pictures that were taken in different scenarios were amazing. I was able to obtain excellent quality pictures with full zoom in detail (no distortions) with the standard lens the camera came with. (I'll be purchasing a macro lens soon). My Nikon D3200 stood it's ground in comparison with the other cameras in class. The only feature I was missing from everyone else was the Depth of Field Preview, which was no biggie, I was still able to obtain excellent depth of field pictures.
Conclusion:
I'm extremely happy with my camera... and I look forward to actually taking pictures from here on. The camera is easy to use and has a lot of features. I have not tried the video mode, but I'm sure it will not disappoint me. I highly recommend this camera.

So I was looking for a camera that's more than just a turn on and shoot type camera. I am going to be traveling and I wanted to take some great pictures. Very high resolution and clear pictures. I got the 55mm-200mm lens as well and HIGHLY recommend you get it. Getting this camera without it is like buying a Lexus and then just not bothering to put gas in it. There's no memory card which for the price it should be included but at the same time if you're throwing down this kind of money, $40-$60 shouldn't break you.
I use this for all sorts of things and was on the water a few weekends ago and the pictures were fantastic. The 55-200mm lens came in use as it gives you more of a chance to get the picture you want if you're moving.

Amazing dynamic range in good light and great detail. This sensor is amazing. It feels cheap as do plastic lenses, but the low weight and price-performance make it a winner. It does not work with my 20-35mm 2.8 AF-D Nikkor at all. I expected it would as a manual focus lens.
I bought a Tamron 10-24 and have taken outstanding pictures.

This is an excellent camera for people wanting to join the DSLR world and who still needs to learn and experiment the photography parameters to get high quality shots.
I bought this one as I was not sure if I would have the time and opportunities to learn all the different setup variations to become a good photo shooter. By the time I learn it all it (in 2-3 years) it would be time to get a new camera anyway and, if needed, move up on a more powerful (more features) camera.
For the price and what you get, this is a great buy!

Perfect camera for the beginner dslr user. Found it quite easy to use. Came with a decent lens, but will probably buy another lens soon. Haven't got an oppertunity to take any night pictures yet. Will see how it does soon. Compared to the cannon t3i I thought it offered more at a cheaper price. Bought an eye-fi card with it, and it's pretty simple to transfer photos.

I bought it for taking pictures while I went to Africa, I couldn't get even a simple problem for this camera, and the quality was awesome. Easy to use and the charger works without a problem (here in USA the voltage is 110V but in my country had 240V)

First time DSLR user, no previous knowledge of them and I'm in love in under a day! I did massive research before purchasing this camera and everything I read gave it rave reviews so I thought I'd give it a try! Well worth the $$! Pictures are crisp and clear and there are so many features I have yet to learn!

Wanted to step up from a super zoom point and shoot to capture great pics for all the life events leading up to my high school seniors graduation. Also wanted to get a camera that could take great pics with no flash in low light situations. This camera has met all my lofty expectations. Takes great warm pics in low light situations like at a dimly lit restaurant. Nice to have shots that aren't washed out from the flash. Have not tried going away from auto mode too much yet, but will over the next few months.

We purchased this camera for use daily and to shoot professional photos of our children. It is great, we used it all through Christmas and never had a blurred picture, even with all the children in constant motion. The camera is easy to operate and is light enough to travel with us.

I'm just getting into photography, and I'm coming off using a Sony HX100 , so I'm familiar with using the manual settings, but this camera offers much greater range. I also love being able to swap out lenses for the right shot. If you're thinking about getting into using an SLR, definitely look at this. With 24.2 megapixels, you can take huge photos that are much easier to work with in Photoshop and other digital imaging software. It also comes with a manual that shows you how to use everything, and even has a nice Guide option on the dial that will help guide you through getting the shot that you want, making learning a lot easier. The 18-55mm lens that comes with the camera is very good as well, but seeing as how it is a small lens, you will probably want to consider getting another, bigger one for better zoom, like a 55-200mm or 55-300mm (which is what I got). Overall, this is a great camera, and is definitely one a beginner to SLRs should consider.

I am an amateur photo taker, and I bought this camera to upgrade from an 8mpx Pentax DSLR (which I loved). So far I am thrilled with my Nikon D3200; it has been easy to migrate too from my previous DSLR, and the quality of photos and videos has been great. Still learning some of the features, but even someone with no previous SLR experience could use this camera, as the Auto settings are sufficient in most situations. If you are looking for something that is as easy to use as a point and click but want the functionality of an SLR this camera fits the bill.
