    Great camera for the money

I just recieved this camera yesterday and once I charged the battery, I was off and running. I bought this camera as an upgrade from my old D70, which is only 6 megapixels and the pictures are not very large. I shot numerous photos with the D3200 on fully automatic until I read the manual, LOL! They turned out crisp and clear. We have a lot of fall color here in Michigan and the colors were true and bright. So far I love this camera. The only bad thing is none of my old NIkon F mount AF lenses work with it except in manual mode. There is no AF motor in the camera, like my old D70. The new AFS lenses will autofocus and I had to buy a new 55-200 lense so I could autofocus if I want to. Also there is no memory card in the box and the charger is very cheaply made. The lights on the charger did not work, but it did charge my battery. I read there are problems with the charger that comes with this camera. The camera body is a form of plastic, but at the hobby level and price I guess that is to be expected. My old manual NIkons were all metal. All in all, this is a great camera for the photo enthusiast. Pros will want the pro-level cameras of course. I don't have that kind of money, so I am satisfied with the performance of the D3200. Much better than my old D70.

    Great Camera

This review is for those who are new to DSLR and the beginner. This camera is great especially for the person who is looking for that family camera and needs that upgrade from the point and shoots. It produces fantastic images that are crisp and clear. You will not be let down. The only thing I don't like is that the HD record button, it is next the shutter release button, even after weeks of use I still occasionally make the mistake and hit it. The lens that comes with the kit (18-55mm) is great and should be the only one you need unless you want some reach and then I would recommend the 55-200mm or the 55-300mm for those longer reach shots, both are great lenses and produce excellent shots, make sure you get the ones with the vibration reduction VR. Lastly, this is not a cheap camera, you need to protect it and your lenses. I recommend a UV filter for all lenses minimum, a protective bag that can house your body and lenses for transport and storage, (kill 2 birds with 1 stone idea) and some sort of lens cleaner. Also you'll need to buy an SDHC card, class 6 or above. These are minimums and expect to buy them when you get the camera or later, just a heads up. They all can be bought together for a little as 60 bucks on top of the camera price, less if you know what your doing and looking for. Hope this helps whoever is expecting to buy one for personal use or planning to buy one as a gift. If your looking for a more professional review, search the web, or these reviews.

    Incredible for the Price

Lots and lots of reviews, and what I find great about a review, is when the person has a similar situation or need. So if you are a small business owner who is on a tight budget in a crazy economy and you need high quality photos but hiring a professional photographer is not likely, THIS IS THE CAMERA FOR YOU. I bought the D3200 last night drove all the way out to League City to get the last one in all of Houston (According to Best Buy), and then I purchased the SB-700, it was a lot of money for a flash but it is worth it, if you need the quality. I went to the Convention Center in Downtown Houston, and took some "walk around photos of people and exhibits". The camera did very well no focus issues, the flash was a little bright, but I was able to do some quick adjustments and move on. I have a D3100, but the D3200 is faster, mainly the focusing is faster and the metering is a lot better. I took about 200 photos got home and loaded them on the computer, and I was immediately blown away. The quality was awesome, even with those tough shots where the flash was not angled correctly or I rushed the shot. Some reviews had said the 24MP was only for cropping far away shots. Ok, here is my second wow. There were a couple of photos with a little bit of noise, so I loaded the pics in Lightroom 4 and did a little editing, I was amazed at the outcome. My 3100 was 14MP and gave me great shots, which is why I waited until the last one to buy a 3200. But with 24MP I am able to truely edit a photo to amazing quality, and remember, everything is on auto and I have had no professional training at photography. Photo editing software is all based on algorithms, like any good algorithm the more data it has to work with the better the outcome. Therefore the 24MP has more pixels (i.e., more data), and therefore if you do any amount of photo editing, the 24MP will make your editing a lot better. In conclusion for the price, hands down this is a great camera!

I finally gave up my 35mm SLR and was looking for a good camera that wouldn't bust the budget. The 3200 seemed like a nice mid-range model with lots of features, great picture quality and reasonable price. I have been using it for several weeks to take pictures under all sorts of conditions and so far every shot has surpassed by expectations. I have yet to explore all the features, but it takes wonderful pics in everything from bright light to deep shade. So far, I'm impressed.

I upgraded from my Nikon D60 to the new Nikon D3200. This camera is easy to use, very lite, great pictures and video's, love the live view and the wireless transfer of pictures to my smart phone and tablet. I reviewed Canon and Sony products plus many reviews and this is the best camera out there. Need to buy extra battery, 16 gb SD card, and WI-FI adapter. Buy this camera and you will love it

I bought this camera to replace a small one I've had for about five years. I did a lot of research before purchasing the D3200. I needed something easy enough for a beginner, but something I'd want to keep using after taking a photography class and becoming more advanced. This camera fits the bill. For the beginner, there are great modes that will allow you to happily snap away. For those who want more control over their photos and know the lingo, there are multiple settings that will allow you change shutter speed, aperture, lighting, ISO, etc. Right now, I'm in the beginner stage. I bought a great book (D3200 for Dummies) that's helped a lot. Since I have very limited knowledge of photography, it's a lot to absorb, but with the help of the book, I'm getting there. I've not yet tried the built in video camera, but love what I've seen so far.

I bought this as an entry-level DSLR, but it goes way beyond that. The photographs that I have been able to take are of excellent quality. Of course, there's a learning curve if one wants to use settings other than auto, but even with auto, the results are superb. I plan on keeping this model until I "graduate" to a full-frame DSLR, and you can bet it's going to be another Nikon!

Best picture quality of any entry level DSLR!

    Posted .

Without a doubt the Nikon D3200 is the best entry level DSLR currently available! It has a 24.2MP sensor, with amazingly low noise, and super crisp 1080p video. It's so good in fact, that the standard 18-55 Nikkor Kit lens simply can not feed enough light to this amazing APS-C sensor. It also has an audio line in, and live view that can be piped out over HDMI. Giving it everything you need for recording video. While not perfect, its the best buy for your money right now. The body does feel a little cheap, and almost a little too lite. It lacks HDR mode and a few other features you'd like to see at the $600 price point, but nothing that takes away from your ability to use the camera for just about anything! If you get this camera you're going to need some real glass to go with it! So be ready to spend at least another ~$300 or so to get something better then a kit lens. -=F.Y.I.=- The ratings I gave this camera are only in comparison to other cameras in it's class/price range.

I absolutely love this camera. This is my first dSLR camera. I have been able to take some amazing shots of nature and wildlife with this camera. I purchased an additional lens for 70-300mm and have been amazed by the quality of the pictures. I tend to use the guide to get the right settings, but I plan to take a course to learn about the manual settings. With the guide, some of my pictures look quite professional!

We got this camera as a wedding gift to ourselves. We've had it for two weeks and have taken hundreds of photos. It is fantastic. The camera has so many preset functions that anyone can use it for any purpose. I'm a beginner and this camera is so easy to use. Just go to guide and find what you want.....sunsets, portraits, action shots, low light. it doesn't matter its all there. I highly recommend it. the pictures are absolutely stunning and the quality is unbelievable.

My wife and I have this camera as a backup after my Nikon D80 went down. I have come to like this camera over time. I enjoy, after a lot of getting used to, the HiDef video this camera takes. I have never liked the incorporation of video in a DSLR but this works great. The camera is good for folks who just want a good camera and for those who want to dive a little deeper in photography.
