    I got this kit to be able to reminisce about my Photography classes from High School and to play with some of the new settings. It has not disappointed. Agreed, it isn't a $3000 D-Body, but it certainly works better than a Point and Shoot camera...for about the same price as a Point and Shoot! I do with the zoom had stabilization, but it is a beginner kit and the nicer glass costs a lot more.

    I already own the D3300 so picking up the D3500 (which is virtually identical in terms of hardware) was an easy choice to give myself two nearly identical cameras. Fit and function are typical Nikon quality. What I really liked about this kit was getting the 300mm zoom lens with the 55mm lens. Those are the two I use the most and getting them in one shot at a good price point was great (overall cost was only about $10 more than the big online monopoly but I could get this the same day rather than 3 days out). I also appreciate that the lenses are genuine Nikon (Nikkor) and not compatible brands. Not that the compatible brands are bad (I own one), but the Nikon lenses just have a slightly better feel to them. A couple notes. First, you HAVE to get a case. Nikon doesn't provide one and the Nikon cases are pretty pricey, so look for something off-brand. And second, get a second battery. Nikon batteries, in my experience, have a pretty good charge life, but once they start going they go quickly and not having a backup handy can be catastrophic.
