Just starting to use. No complaints so far. If there are problems, Im guessing it will be based on my inexperience.

If you're planning to get into photography or DSLR

I'm new in photography but I've learned so much in the past week that I've owned this camera. I've done about 8+ hours of research on how to use DSLRs and also done 4+ hours on other DSLRs around this price range and I have to say...nothing beats it in terms of value for the money. But of course, you have to understand that it also starts with your personal preference. What you're looking for may be completely different from what everyone else is looking for. For me, the 39 AF points are great and the fact that this camera doesn't have the optical filter in it means everything is sharper. You also get WIFI and GPS functionality built right in; you won't have to spend $300+ for adapters that take up room and space. This camera pretty much does it all, unless you want to spend upwards over 1k. Do research before you purchase, but if you're getting into DSLRs I recommend the Nikon D5300 or if your budget is low, go for the Nikon D3300. It's also a great camera for its price. Both comes without the optical filter and the newest exspeed 4 processor. If i had to give you some advice though, get the Nikon D5300 with the 18-140mm lens. The one that comes with this kit (18-55mm lens) is great but if you upgrade lens and get better ones, you might just leave that one in the bag somewhere. For another $200 or so, I'd get the 18-140mm that comes with the camera. I'm not saying the 18-55mm is bad though, it's a great piece of lens. If you're low on budget and you plan on using this piece of lens or if you're planning to just buy a nice prime lens, get the 18-55mm. Btw...if you're starting into DSLRs, i recommend you purchase the Nikon 35mm f/1.8 prime lens. GREAT lens for the value and it works wonders with this camera. I listed it in the related products down below. Comparison between rival models: Okay, so I was looking at this camera and its rival, the Canon Rebel T5i. Both has it's strong points and both will depend on the user's preference but I think the major selling point of the T5i is the Touch Screen. Most of us all use smartphones nowadays and we are all very used to using capacitive touch screens, so if you like that and ease of use behind that, the Canon T5i can be a strong option for you. It doesn't have 60p 1080 recording like the D5300 or the WiFi and GPS functionality either. The specs are a little bit older and weaker than the D5300 but you can compare that if you type it in google. The touch screen is a very strong feature and i REALLY wish Nikon put it in the D5300, but I guess everything has its pros and cons. I'm sure i've strayed away from the main topic quite a few times but I felt like I needed all these information when I purchased my camera. I hope this helps you, whoever read this :)

This is my first DSLR camera and I am completely satisfied with it. The photo and video quality is amazing. It is also easy to use. I have already taken some amazing photos with it and I've only had it for a few months. I would definitely suggest buying this camera if you are looking for one that is good for beginners but also has the capability to be used by more experienced photographers!

Superb camera! Worth every penny. The WiFi feature is an edge over D7100. I've never been happier with a new camera, than I am with my Nikon D5300.

The D5300 includes both an in-camera GPS and Wi-Fi which enables one to use their smartphone device as a remote to trigger the photos and view them. The combination of a small, lightweight body with the form and function of a large DSLR was the perfect blend of form and function. It was so light to carry around that I never once thought about putting it back into my bag. I highly recommend it for anyone looking for either an upgrade from an older DSLR.
