The Nikon D5300 marks my return to (D)SLR photography and I couldn't be more pleased. I have owned a number of highly rated digital point and shoot cameras from Canon and Panasonic but I have never been entirely pleased with the results they produced. This is what I was looking for; what I expected from a digital camera. The manual modes are intuitive for anyone who has used an SLR camera and the auto mode takes great photos if you just want to point and shoot. The Nikon lenses almost seem to add a layer of clarity to the photo that I have missed with the other cameras. I would recommend this model or the newer 5500 and now 5600 to anyone looking for a serious camera at a reasonable price point.

I originally got the D3500 which is good but after reading several reviews the D5300 has more to offer at the same price (sans the bag). The autofocus system is better plus there is stereo sound (and external mic input) for HD video. This is my first and probably last DSLR that I buy has it has everything that I need. Not sure how long these will last since this model has been replaced by the D5600 which cost about $200 more.

I bought this camera after speaking with my professional photographer friend. He recommended either the D7200 or D5300 if I was not as worried about shooting in really low light situations. Plus, D5300 has an option as an add-on to add low-light shooting. I decided to spend little less money and buy D5300 since it came with a two excellent lenses. So far it has been great and really easy to use! Wi-Fi was simple to set up now i get photos I select on my phone. Love it.

The Nikon D5300 is an awesome DSLR!!! I decided to purchase a newer camera to replace my Nikon D90 and this camera is fantastic!!! The Nikon D5300 delivers sharper images and it has an improved body design with a slightly larger viewfinder and a bigger, higher-resolution LCD than the D90. It also has builtin Wi-Fi and GPS capabilities, and incorporates a stereo microphone. Love it!

For the price...is worth it. Brings the instructions, I prefer to read the booklet instead of download the instructions. Easy to use and very good quality equipment. Cons. ..300 lens not VR.

This is my first DSLR and I am very happy with it's many features. I was originally looking at the mirrorless Sony but decided on the Nikon D5300 because of the many lens choices with the Nikon. The fact that I can shoot videos in HD is a plus. I also like the fact that it is WiFi enabled which allows me to view pictures on my smartphone. Photo quality is very good. I really like this camera.

Reviewed many Nikon cameras years, models, pricing and extras. I would've liked to have gotten the newer version of this, not saying it's outdated at all, but I like the lasted and greatest. best bang for money-on special sale-came with additional lens Photos are so clear! Many options to learn, has some basic editing built in Definitely a great product

The pictures are awesome and it is so easy to use. This kit even included the 300 mm lens, which is fantastic. I'm taking pictures of just about everything around the house just to use it! The battery holds a charge for a very long time and the option to use your phone to take and review pictures has been fun to play around with.

We've been very pleased with our purchase. We were able to take it out of the box and (after charging the battery) use it right away. It's very easy to use, but we definitely learned a lot of tips and tricks from the manual. And we absolutely love the WiFi feature - it's so easy to send he photos directly to our smartphones!

Upgraded from a Sony a500. Lots of new features my old camera didn't have. Still learning all the new features on this camera. Very pleased with the way it handles. The pictures come out great. Love the fact that I can take video in HD. Light weight compared to my Sony. Looking forward to taking a lot more pictures.

I have been buying Nikon dslr's for ten years now and have never had a problem of any kind. I love this little camera. I haven't tried the new wifi yet. I've been using this one for macro/close-up work and the results are fantastic. Very light compared to my D610. I love the swing out display.

This camera takes great photos and is easy to use in auto mode. I have been practicing in manual mode also after buying a Nikon D5300 user guide to walk me through the camera. The owners manual does not go into much depth. I chose the Nikon over the Canon and I am happy with my choice.

Already have a few images receiving "wows". It does take some time to get used to the menus as one-touch buttons are limited vs the D7300 step-up. However, the initial image quality and focusing are spot-on. I would highly recommend a battery grip as the battery does deplete somewhat quickly. The only other item I noticed is the build quality i.e.: solid feel isn't up to par with the Pentax I've been using, but the actual functionality is much better. So far, so good!
