Great value as purchased with the two lenses. The design of the camera makes it easy to switch between lenses and operate them in both automatic and manual focus and the necessary speed and light adjustments. Would recommend for a quality beginner camera.

This camera is great for photographers who already have some experience, and are looking to step up towards something more professional. There are a lot of settings and options to mess around with and it's great to help learn more about shooting. The video quality is fantastic, it's what I originally bought the camera for, and the photo quality is very high. For the package deal with the extra lense, this camera was a steal.

As a professional photographer i found this camera a bit too entry level for what my needs are but did recommend it to a friend. Its a great little camera, perfect for travel and throwing in a bag and running around. Family pics, travel pics and video. If you don't need easy to find manual settings it could be a good backup camera for mid level photogs as well. the lenses are small light and efficient and for the sale price its a great little entry to mid level camera kit.

The D5500 has lots of options that allow users to get the best shot at the right moment. In fact, you don't even have to select the right scene mode since it will do it for you. It's "Scene Recognition System" uses info from the camera’s RGB metering sensor to analyze brightness & color then it compares your shots to other similar shots and then optimizes the camera settings–basically doing all the fun stuff itself. There are 16 scene modes, 7 color modes, and lots of creative filters that you can add to the images after you've taken it. You can also shoot time lapses with fixed intervals for up to 9,999 frames to put together yourself with third party software. The D5500 is absolutely the best sub-$100 camera around.

I bought this camera to take on my honeymoon to Hawaii and it far exceeded expectations. This was my first higher end camera and after doing some research on settings for different landscape / waterfall shots, I was able to get some unreal photos. It was a perfect camera to capture our honeymoon and I got some photos good enough, that I will be posting in my house. Picture quality was amazing and the HD video feature works very nicely as well.
