I am new to DSLR. I am amazed at the quality of the pictures I am able to capture moving from a point and shoot camera to this DSLR. Takes great pictures on "auto", but I am enjoying exploring many of the "manual" settings!

Tons of great features. Loving the touchscreen to review and zoom in on photos to make sure the focus was perfect on macro shots. Takes great photos at a reasonable price.

Overall great camera My only complaint is after you play back whatever you recorded, the noise from camera is clearly heard. Not a deal breaker by any means, just an FYI

This camera is amazing! My first DSLR was purchased over 5 years ago and I struggled with the 800 ISO in low light. This 25500 ISO is simply amazing in low light situations. I'm still new to photography, so I'm still learning, but this makes it that much better!

I picked this camera after reading several reviews and comments. There are many packages that come with an upgraded lens or a few other options, but for basics this body had all the functionally I could hope for and has proformed beyond my expectations.

With the active 24.2 Megapixels and a good lens set this camera takes stunning photos. The macro portriat kit by Nikon is a must with this camera or any camera. I use the 50mm as well for close ups and it deliveries fantastic photos with this camera. Recently taken winter photos of Nature with my 70mm-300mm and virtually no editing on photos lighting and depth of image is almost flawless. The detail of the 85mm in the portrait kit with this camera is amazing!!!! Glad I got rid of my big body Camera to purchase the D5500.

Purchased this camera after extensive research comparing both Nikon and Canons for my girlfriend for a Christmas present. Was going to just go with the D3400, but after looking at the cameras in store the depth of the grip on the D5500 was what sold it for me as I was hesitant just to go the D5500 route just for the screen, but the depth of the grip and the feel is something that I don`t think many websites focus on yet plays a major difference.Overall though it has been a great purchase and I don`t regret it at all.

i compared this camera to the Canon T6i, and though they seem to share many features, the Nikon seemed to be more intuitive for me. I like the Nikon kit lens included with the D5500, and am getting some very nice shots. Very clear images using the super fast ISO setting. When using the longer lens (55-300mm), handheld, the VR function on the lens makes for a very stable, clean image. The size of the camera is just about perfect with the built in extended grip for making each shot without the fear of dropping the camera. I also purchased the SANDISK Extreme Plus 64GB memory card with this and am very happy with it. Write speed is unbelievably fast, and in a non scientific test at home, setting the shutter speed to 1/2000, sequential shooting, and standard .jpg images, I was able to take 108 pictures (roughly 5fps), before the camera had to slow down on writing to let the memory card catch up. The "WIFI" function is somewhat misleading though. The camera's WiFi sets itself up in infrastructure mode, it doesn't hook up to your home WiFi network. This allows your smart phone or iPad to trigger a shot, and download the .jpg images to your device. If you are shooting in Raw/jpg mode, as I do, only the jpg file will transfer to your device. To get the Raw image off your card, you either have to plug the camera into your laptop/desktop, or put the SD card into your computer. The software from Nikon gives some editing functions, but I chose Adobe Elements 15 for my editing needs. Adobe also makes LightRoom which is more professional than what I feel I need at present. You can test drive either/both of the Adobe products for free for thirty days. I am very happy with the camera, and have no second thoughts about this purchase. I can put it in Auto Mode, or play with all of the different modes and special effects (I really like the Selective Color Mode). I have barely used the video mode, but all of the effects work in video also. If you think you may use the video mode quite a bit, the Adobe Elements PREMIERE 15 handles both photo and video editing for about $150.00
