Very versatile camera with automated settings for a wide variety of circumstances and the package is a very good value. This was a significant upgrade in performance from my previous Nikon.

I researched this purchase for sometime, even watching u-tube comparisons between several cameras at this level. Some of the features I love best are the touch screen, which makes it so easy for manual settings. And the sharp detail in the pictures it takes, The focus and sharpness of this camera are the best in it's category. Also love the pivoting viewer. Helps a ton when taking pictures above other people. I've had Cannons for 20 years and just switched to Nikon. I'm very happy with this selection and found it to be an easy adjustment..

Camera feels light and it is worth the price. WiFi and Bluetooth features are helpful in transfers. So far battery life is good in spite of 500 photos taken it’s still having around 30% if battery. Overall I love this product

If you want to get started with Nikon cameras, this is the one. The screen is adjustable perfect for taking pictures from up top or down low. Amazing quality and lots of features! You’ll love playing around in manual mode or simply using its auto features to achieve an effortless perfect picture. Fair price for what you’re getting.

The Nikon D5600 makes for an excellent first camera, but if you've already invested in Nikon or if your hoping to expand with legacy glass, you're going to have to go to the next tier. (See caution below)
I was shooting at a conference when my trusty older Pentax stopped working. So, I ran out and bought the D5600 kit at Best Buy - it was on sale. The kit comes with two basic lenses that sync up beautifully with the body. Both have AutoFocus but only one has the built in image stabilization. If you have basic photo knowledge, you can be taking photos as soon as the battery is charged - it took about 2 hours to charge mine. Once you get past the basics, there will be a learning curve to get to the point where you can smoothly access the wide range of advanced features, but, once you can, the D5600 should fill most of your photographic needs. Nikon does have a more basic model (D3500), but, if you can manage the price difference, the D5600 is worth the step up.
Note of caution: the 5600 and the 3500 are designed to work with AF lenses with a motor built into the lens. Older Nikon compatible AF lenses need a motor built into the camera body. The 3500 and 5600 do not have a built in AF motor. If you've already made an investment into Nikon equipment or if you want to expand your lens collection with older lens through store sales or through Ebay, you should save for the D7500 (or the older D7200 also at an excellent price on Best Buy). The newer lenses with the built in motors are a little pricey making legacy lens very attractive. Also keep in mind, image stabilization is not built into the 5600 or 7500 or any Nikon camera. It is another feature that is built into certain higher priced lens. Again a lot of mint condition legacy lens are available if you shop around, but there will be no image stabilization. Meaning your next purchase should be a good tripod for photos where hand shake would be a concern.
I did end up returning the D5600 and getting the D7200 body only instead. It was an economic decision. At this point I can't swing the cost of all new, state of the art lenses. So, I chose some legacy glass on Ebay.
4 stars because it took some intensive research to realize I would need all new expensive lens with built in motors. Had I known that going in, I would have saved time (and a restocking fee) and gone up a level right away. But you have been forewarned, so you can make your choice and be confident tha the D5600 will take great photos.

Easy camera to learn for beginners

Got this camera for my son for Christmas. He loves taking pictures of his car and other various subjects with his cell phone but was ready to move to more professional looking pictures. He has never had a DSLR before, so I spent numerous hours researching for a good camera that was good for beginners that wouldn't break the bank. This Nikon D5600 kept popping up and had good reviews, plus I was liking the info I was getting from my research, so I decided this was the camera I was going to get. I am by no means a camera expert, nor do I know what a lot of the jargon means, but this is a great camera and my son loves it. It takes a bit to learn, but that's time wise, not difficulty wise. He has taken some pretty amazing pictures with it. He also likes that he can send pictures via bluetooth/wi-fi directly to his phone or computer.
