This camera serves that purpose. It has been easy to use and takes really good pics. My children even love to use it.

Excellent starter camera kit

Everything you need plus more, came with a camera bag and extra lens. The Nikon is extremely easy to use and has lots of expandability. Nikon’s quality is top notch!

There seem to be fewer features, but for an intermediate user, they are not missed. The exposure control appears to be excellent, lenses are crisp, and I really like the SnapBridge bluetooth transfer feature. I'm looking forward to another 10 years of quality mileage out of this camera!

Takes a while for you to get the hang of it if you're a newbie. Takes great shots of moving or still objects/persons. Price is decent but worth the investment.

Great beginner camera

I'm no professional, but not a novice. Nice staring equipment for someone who wants to learn a bit more. Touch screen is great, especially for the smartphone generation. Nice weight. Only issue is connecting to my smart phone to upload photos.

It’s easy to learn and use and takes great photos in just about every condition I’ve tried it in. The extra lens in the package really helps.

It is my first Nikon as well. I have had many point and shoots over the years (Olympus, Canon, Pentax), both 35mm and digital, but wanted to get something more. I am still learning how to take better pictures. I am impressed that I was able to get a great shot of the full moon a while back. Next need to try and get a starred night shot. This camera takes amazingly crisp and sharp pictures. Have been using to take photos of grand kids, collector cars, landscapes. The two lens setup is a perfect fit to what I wanted. Nikon provides lots of online education for their products. I am now a Nikon believer. I highly recommend this two lens combo for the D5600.

Battery life is very decent, but you would definitely benefit from buying an extra battery.

With just a little practice, it is fairly easy to master and use. The zoom is amazing and the pictures are so sharp! And it's not so heavy that carrying it around is at all a problem.
